This is such a great album. The sound is unique, acoustic pop-rock with tinges of country and jazz. The songs are well structured, catchy, and emotive. A standout is Chicago--if anyone has experienced heartbreak, this song will speak to them.

This album is quite a rarity. A christian metal band inspired by the death metal music that opposes there very views. I enjoy this album because it is a good adrenaline rush. The guitarists and drummers are very good, if a bit stereotypical. The bet song on the album is probably Your Name is Defeat.

Parlour Tricks Broken Hearts/Bones
Parlour Tricks sound is a mixture of synth-indie and 60's pop. They groove with catchy riffs and funky drums, but can also contemplate with slower melodies. The instrumentation leans towards synth, but is pretty balanced between the vocals, bass, guitar, and drums. Lily Cato's vocals are dreamy and reminiscent of the sixties, which makes each song stick in the listener's head. The content of most of the album is centered on romance. This is not bad, as each song has somewhat of a purer feel towards romance. Still, the true pains of scorned or sour love do not completely come through on some songs. The overall emotional impact of the album suffers because of this, but on a whole the album is a nice balance between catchy and deep, melancholy and joy. There is much room to grow for the Parlour Tricks, and Broken Hearts/Bones is a great foundation upon which to continue to build their sound.

The Music Box Cycles
The Music Box is a progressive alternative band from Florida. Though clearly an alternative band, they bring echoey guitar, fat bass, poignant percussion, excellent dynamics, as well as soulful lyrics and vocals. Their song structures don?t follow the simple verse-chorus-verse structure, instead opting for dramatic buildups and thoughtful interludes. There is no filler here. This is a band whose passion shines through every song. The band has an excellent melodic sound which carries the listener on a journey through the emotional content of each song. The lyrical content concerns love and romance, focusing especially on the turbulent and changing nature of love lost and gained. This is an excellent debut, and listeners should look to see the band live, as well as hope for another album.

Touche Amore Is Survived By
The lyrics on this album are raw and honest, the instrumentation expansive and atmospheric without being bombastic. This is great music from Touche Amore, and makes for a cathartic experience.

August Burns Red Looks Fragile After All
This August Burns Red album is the quintessential sound that every average beginning hardcore band has when they start out. The lyrics are good, average for the genre, but good. The breakdowns are heavy, the instrumentation easy, and provides something nice, heavy, and simple to listen to

3.0 good
Avenged Sevenfold Avenged Sevenfold
I got this album thinking it would rock because I heard Critical Acclaim and Almost Easy before the album came out, and I thought they were pretty good songs. Then I got the album and listened to it. To me, the songs sound half baked and repetitive. They repeat over and over, which makes it not very interesting. The worst osng on the album is 'A Little Piece of Heaven". It is arranged well, but it sounds more like a Panic at the Disco song then Avenged Sevenfold. All the guitar solos were good, just everything else sucked.
Black Tide Light From Above
This album is almost perfect. Great cathy songs and amazing solos, but it all feels too perfect. This isn't a new genre sound here. It is merely recycled guns n roses, metallia, and iron maiden. but i still enjoy it, despite the unoriginality of the sound.

blink-182 Dude Ranch
Texas in July I Am
This band is competent. All of their instruments and vocals sound good. But the actual riffs are about as uninspired as they get. The song Reflections sounds alright until it attempts to be BTBAMesque with an epic solo and it just fails because the solo notes are poorly chosen, especially on the sweeps. The solo sounds like a bad videogame soundtrack.
