The songs blend better and every song is enjoyable. It might not have "Stairway to Heaven" on it, but there are plenty of great songs on here, like the hard rocker "Immigrant song" to the soft and subtle "That's the Way". It is definitely softer and folkier than their other albums, but in my opinion it is just as great or greater than the rest. Recommended for classic rock fans and anyone who wants to try out Led Zeppelin beyond their most popular stuff. Their second album was more speed metal/ just plain metal with thrash influences, their fourth was sorta metal with punk/hard rock mixed in, and their fifth was heavy metal with a bit of thrash and punk thrown in. But this one, my friend, is pure thrash: and good thrash at that. This baby just begins to drop in quality-and only slightly- near the very end. This album when listened to in full is excellent. I recommend all aspiring thrash metal fans to at least try this album out. Anthrax Spreading the DiseaseGreat album. Not their best, but a good debut for their then-new vocalist, Joey Belladonna. Spreading the Disease is the only Anthrax album in which he uses this style of vocal, and it may not be my favorite, but it works very well and blends/contrasts nicely with the instrumental parts. (He seems to be nearly more influenced by 70's "arena" hard rock than NWOBHM in my opinion.) The drumwork stood out here, too. There were some awkward moments-especially in the lyrics- but beyond that, I found this very enjoyable. Anthrax Sound of White NoiseA lot of people bag on this album because it has a different singer (John Bush) and has a more "Grunge" vibe to it, but I actually really enjoy it. "Black Lodge" is one of my favorite Anthrax songs of all time, and I also really like "Only" and "Room for one More". If you're one of those people who stopped listening to Anthrax because of the departure of Joey and/or their change in style, still give this one a chance. I did and I was pleasantly surprised.Goo Goo Dolls Dizzy Up The GirlThis album marks a change in the Goo Goo Doll's style. Before, they were more rock/punk oriented, but with each record, that influence slowly faded away. On this album, that punk influence is literally non-existent. But is this a dissapointment? In this case, no, as the band pulls it off well. I enjoy most of the songs on this album and even the ones that I don't particularly like hold their own. A solid pop rock album.Green Day 1039/Smoothed Out Slappy HoursI dislike Green Day for the most part, but this album is just SO CATCHY. Yes, the lyrics are a bit cheesy, but everything else is very enjoyable to me and I love nearly every song. I don't think this album should be heard with a serious mind; this album is just for having fun- and it does it's job. Iron Maiden The Number of the BeastIron Maiden Piece of MindIron Maiden Seventh Son of a Seventh SonLed Zeppelin Led ZeppelinLess Than Jake Hello RockviewI may not be the biggest ska/punk/pop-punk fan out there, but I must say I bought this album when I WAS, and I still find it thoroughly enjoyable. Great bass and the addition of trombones/saxaphones really adds an interesting layer to the whole thing. Nearly every track seems to be more on the "plain" metal side of things, and some songs even seem to have a punky or hard rock edge to them. Also, the writing on this album seemed a bit rushed. Many songs are rather bland, but some do stand out, like "Be All, End All" (One of my favorite Anthrax songs) and "Antisocial". In all, though, this shouldn't be the first album to get if you're just getting in to these guys.Anthrax Attack of the Killer B'sThis is another one of those EP's/albums that a serious-minded person will not exactly enjoy, for a good reason: these guys can be complete goofs. And it definitely shows on this EP. A word of warning: this little album is like one huge mood swing. There's serious songs, somewhat serious songs, and just plain silly ones, all mixed together somewhat haphazardly. You sort of know what to expect on first listen, but then again... not really. In many songs, Brian Fair tries to sound like James Hetfield and in one song he succeeds in a way so scarily that I paused the song and checked my iPod to see if it really was Shadows Fall and not Metallica! That song is "Venemous", and it sounds a bit TOO like early nineties Metallica for my liking; the album as a whole is also pretty scary and is boring to boot. If you really like Metallica, just listen to their OWN albums for crying out loud! For the same reasons, if you totally hate Metallica, you should definitely steer clear of this as well.1.5 very poorFall Out Boy From Under the Cork TreeKittie OracleLinkin Park Minutes to MidnightTrivium The CrusadeUnderoath Define the Great Line
