Mark Farner/N'rG For The People
For the People
MARK FARNER'S~2006 ~"For The People"

First of all...the album could not be titled better. Mark definitely relates to his fanbase and here he has written NEW CLASSIC ROCK in tunes that give us that ol' Grand Funk music from the 70's that we used to run to for comfort!!! You know the songs like "Heartbreaker" and "Mean Mistreater"....The new ones are...(dare I say it) just as electric and emotion packed with possibly more of a melodic feel due to the complex experiences and seasoning of the writer.
And remember "Hard Rock?" It's in there too!!! There are many brilliant surprises and Mark's voice is clear and stronger than ever. I would say he is gracing very well and actually getting better with time.
Regarding Patriotism...Mark still speaks out on the title tune when he asks; "What ever happened to For The People?" This tune is written and performed by a true ROCK PATRIOT. It just grabs your attention...just like his tunes; "You Know Who I Am", "This Time" and "Where Do We Go From Here" It's Rock on a Mission...what could be better?
"Nadean" is one of the singles....very catchy melody with a "FUNK'a Billy" feel to it...."You're My Girl" has a nice chorus that any woman would love to hear her man sing to her! "Symptoms" is an encouraging song that we can all relate to...the lyrics will make ya think and the tune will stick in your head.
When you hear the masterful "Girl" it just might have you reaching for your favorite slow-dance partner. Just a beautiful interpretation of sentiment and emotion. "Waiting Here For You" contains those brilliant surprises blending the voices of Native American instruments with Spiritual lyrics. And the song "Cry Baby" has great guitar work and lyrics plus that good ol' Grand Funk-like organ sound on it...This album is not to be missed. And Heaven Help Us...it's not to be over-looked.

4.0 excellent
Paul E O'Jibway Good For You
Paul Eric O'Jibway is presently touring with the MARK FARNER (Formerly of Grand Funk) Solo Band called "Nrg." And with a voice like Paul's on background and some lead....this keyboard artist and Sax musician adds a powerful boost to the N'rG intensity!

In December of 2006 Paul presented us with a tite little collection of tunes showcasing his extraordinary talent and personality. Jazz and Blues unite and delight your ears to maximum pleasure level.

The Saxxy instrumental "SMILE" starts off the CD and sets off the mood for Smiling and bopping along...then next up is a Bass dominant tune called "BIG BLUE SKY." The Sax is Razzin' all throughout this tune...great lyrics and vocals are dynamite. This song is one of my favorite's because the refrain is so catchy.

"GOOD FOR YOU" (baby) Yeah......this whole album is good for you.....Soul satisfied could of also been the title of the CD! "GOOD LOVIN' GONE BAD" has a blend of voices very complementary to the music...even though the lovin' has gone bad, the tune sweeps away the pain and stands on it's own.

"OFF MY MIND" would be a great tune to dance close with you other half.....do some dippin' too, great mood music! Now, "NO ONE LIKE YOU" has a major hook to the it.....I need to warn you...I get this song stuck in my head for a month at a time. Bop-tap-Mambo...this songs Rocks with Swingy Sax...I love it.

"SLOW MOTION" (Love Potion) another grab your 'other" and squeeze long in to the night type tune, it's a place I want to be (in the Groove) and this tune takes me there all 6:58 minutes of it! "GOOD BYE" is the final cut and a beautiful Duet with Rhonda Hughes...very soul shaking harmonies and a great closing tune for an excellent effort from Paul E O and friends!!!
