The album is about as good as a bunch of musical maestros in their 40s can produce.. labrie's vocals are certainly not of the same quality as they were in the days of Images and Words, but he has countered that with exposing the potential in the lower ranges of this voice.. I remember seeing the score dvd and seeing how labrie struggled with metropolis, and at least with the tour of this new album, he won't be struggling that much! I think the best thing about DT are still their live shows (although being a loserly asian kid i have only been to one of them) and this album would sound absolutely awesome in a live show.. DT albums are must-haves for any musician i think.. maybe its just me cos i play the keyboard and ruddess is my god.. but no matter.. the album is definitely worth a buy and a listen to..Lacuna Coil ComaliesMudvayne L.D. 50Muse Origin of SymmetryNightwish Once"Once i had a dream, and this is it" surely the best nighwish album ever, absolutely classic.. tuomas' work on the orchestration was flawless, and tarja's vocals seem much better taking a back seat.. this is the dream album for all goth kids for sure... with tastefully composed melodies, and tarja's solid vocals to back it up... undoubtedly the best album I bought in recent years.. still listening to it a great deal.. its a pity tarja left the band.. but her influence in the band was beginning to wane anyways.. this album marked the perfect balance that should be present in all goth bands.Nightwish Century ChildPorcupine Tree In AbsentiaSymphony X V: The New Mythology SuiteSymphony X Paradise Lost4.0 excellentDream Theater Train of ThoughtDream Theater ScoreEpica Consign to OblivionEvergrey The Inner CircleHeaven Shall Burn Iconoclast (Part 1: The Final Resistance)HIM Love MetalKillswitch Engage The End of HeartacheNightwish Dark Passion PlayOpeth Ghost ReveriesA very impressive album. Perfect interchange between the clean vocals and death grunts makes it surprisingly easy on the ears.. This was the first opeth album i bought for myself.. and i followed this up by buying damnation, and that album was nothing compared to this one.. Grand conjuration is a superb track, as with the opening Ghost of perdition and the baying of the hounds.. the only disappointing track was isolation years.. which didnt seem to fit in with the whole concept of the album.. still, this album made opeth one of the most R-E-S-P-E-C-T bands ever.. looking forward to another album as good as this one..Shadows Fall Threads of LifeWithin Temptation Mother EarthWithin Temptation The Silent Force3.5 greatFear Factory DemanufactureKillswitch Engage As Daylight DiesNicely produced album.. i have yet to get used to the new american metal thing though.. where tracks are really short and certainly not along enough to develop a certain theme/ idea fully.. i suppose its a ploy for people to buy their albums huh anyway favorite track- eye of the storm.. the rest of the songs were above average, although some particularly stood out.. like unbroken and my curse... i'd pay a deal to watch them live though.. too bad i'm a loserly asain kid who will never get to Lacuna Coil KarmacodeMeshuggah Catch ThirtythreeMetallica MetallicaMudvayne All Access to All ThingsMudvayne Lost and FoundNightwish Highest HopesPagan's Mind Enigmatic: CallingStratovarius Elements Pt.2Stratovarius DestinyTool 10,000 Days1.5 very poorWithin Temptation The Heart of Everything
