It's more or less the epitome of teen angst, and not in a good way like a My Chemical Romance album. Where MCR teaches children unworthy of living to kill themselves, Trent Reznor teaches children to take out their anger by engaging in anonymous sex. His lyrics are terrible and laced in a decor of insoluble metaphors. The production and technical abilities of his band mates keep the album mildly interesting through the first few listens, but soon get loss in a sea of repetitiveness. And to have the best song on your album be a cover (of the Johnny Cash classic, of course) is just unforgivable. I say the background members of Nine Inch Nails find a new frontman that isn't stuck in the phallic stage of development.
