5.0 classic
Agalloch The Mantle
Words alone cannot describe this album, this band. I will try my best, however, to get my point across. There are so many things that Agalloch does right that makes them like no other band. The Mantle sets incredible moods and atmosphere's throughout the songs, and I often find myself lost in all the melodies present in the song. One of my favorite things to do is to put on this album, close my eyes, and just relax. I highly suggest you do this as well -- you will love it.

Metallica Master Of Puppets
Master of Puppets is what I would call the golden age of Metallica. This album has everything that I love about these guys. Every song is a solid track, and serves a purpose to the masterpiece that is Master of Puppets. Tracks such as The Thing That Should Not Be may be considered filler to some, but the mood present in the song is hauntingly amazing. The riffage in the album is top notch, as seen in songs such as Leper Messiah and Master of Puppets. Battery and Damage Inc. are thrashy, aggressive, killer songs that are good for nothing except getting pumped up and headbanging the **** out. Finally, the melodies present in Orion and Sanitarium are nothing short of spectacular. This was also, in my eyes, the peak of Hetfield's vocals. This record is proof that Kirk and Lars USED to be able to play good, as well as showing the genious of the man we call Cliff Burton.

Dream Theater Score
Dream Theater does an impressive job celebrating their 20th anniversary of making music. I definately cannot complain about the music quality. Not only does it sound good, but the band does not miss a note even in 45 minute epics (Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence). As impressive as this is, no casual Dream Theater fan can ignore the fact that there are some parts that can cause the odd feeling of boredom from these long songs. However, most of the tracks are quality, and the orchestra in the second half only adds to this, and often gives the music an epic feel. I was also disappointed at the song they chose from Train of Thought (Vacant), although it was most likely the song that went the best with the orchestra. Very solid effort from an amazing band!
