Arctic Monkeys became one of my favorite bands after this record, and it's freakin good. These are some of the best lyrics ever written, bar none. Not to mention the gorgeous bass lines. This is classic in my eyes, and is the beginning of something amazing.Circle Takes the Square As the Roots UndoI love this album to death for it's sheer intensity, and it's ambient moments. I love how the music moves to dramatically back and fourth, so it's almost as if you're on a thrill ride as you listen. The albums also has packaging that is worth the $12 alone. It's almost like treasure to the hands, but it is treasure to the ears.Flogging Molly Drunken LullabiesDave King is a genius, simply put. Flogging Molly put down some of the best sing-a-longs I've ever heard, most of them being on this album. Drunken Lullabies is the epitome of catchy music, and with a violin, mandolin, banjo, and tin whistle, there's enough variation to keep it fresh. Drunken Lullabies is their best, and may be one of the best punk albums ever created.NOFX 45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good EnoughB-Sides or not, this is NOFX's best work. There's so much variety in the 45 songs, and variety is something NOFX doesn't usually give. Catching Sheep has some excellent punk songs, while Catching Zzzzz's kicks it old-school. Definitley the band's best effort, even if all these songs were recorded randomly in the band's 20 year existence.Radiohead OK ComputerOK Computer is classic. Everyone seems to think so atleast, unless you're one of the few who find them terribly overrated. All I can say about Radiohead is that this album made them who they are now. It's also some pretty trippy music too, so... light up.Rancid Rancid (2000)This is Rancid's fastest, grittiest, and heaviest album thus far. You know right from the opening track, "Don Giovonni" that you're in for a ride. This is my favorite Rancid album simply because I can't find one bad song in it. I find it perfect in every way.Refused The Shape Of Punk To ComeSonic Youth Daydream NationDaydream Nation is one of the greatest pieces of music ever created. Not for it's amazing musical quality, but the lyrics and the intricate design of each song is what makes it stand out in the crowd. Coming from Sonic Youth, you know it's going to be weird, but this is them at their finest.Streetlight Manifesto Everything Goes NumbI have to give this a five alone for it's lyrical value. Tom Kalnoky(sp?) is a fantastic song writer when it comes to words and melody. The horns are outstanding and the guitar is dancy. Easily one of my all-time favorites. The Fall of Troy DoppelgangerThe Fall Of Troy are really a superb musical group. Being the three piece that they are, the lead-vocalist, also has the time and coordination to freaking shred on that "lead" guitar of his. Out-flipping-standing guitar riffs, and the adrenaline rush you'll learn to love, Doppelganger is an obvious choice of mine for the 5/5 rating.Thrice The Artist in the AmbulanceTiger Army Tiger ArmyTiger Army's debut is nothing short of classic. Nick 13 on vocals is amazing, and that stand-up bass is beautiful. Every single song on here deserves a listen. This album just defines Psychobilly in my opinion.4.5 superbBedouin Soundclash Sounding a MosaicDropkick Murphys Sing Loud, Sing Proud!Flogging Molly SwaggerMy second favorite FM album, but it's just short of perfect. I actually prefer a lot of these songs over the ones on Drunken Lullabies, but Swagger just has too many slower dreary songs, and that is not FM's strong point imo. But still, a definite noteworthy album.Morrissey You Are the QuarryNeutral Milk Hotel In the Aeroplane Over the SeaI got into this album through a friend and I'm glad I did. I found it to be beautifully depressing, if that makes any sense. This fell short of a five in my book due to some slight repetitivity, and the song "Communist Daughter", which blows in my opinion.NOFX Punk in DrublicThis is the NOFX album that everyone knows them for. With songs like Linoleum, Don't Call Me White, and Leave It Alone, this is the NOFX record to get if you're getting into the band. Otherwise, the vets have all heard this one 1000+ times.Rancid ...And Out Come the WolvesThis is the Rancid album that everyone knows about. Their sound really changed up to this point. It went from gritty songs to really catchy sing-a-longs. "Disorder and Disarray" pretty much explains my rating of this album.Rancid Let's GoThis is my second favorite Rancid album. Let's Go is pretty much everything you'd want from a punk album, but a few of the 23 tracks can get on my nerves. Not perfect, but close to it.Sufjan Stevens IllinoisThe Mars Volta Frances the MuteMy 4.5 rating can be justified by "Cygnus, Vismund Cygnus" alone. That is one of the most amazing songs I've ever heard. Then toss in "L'via L'viaquez" for even more beauty. But, I can't give this a five due to the last two tracks. They seem pointless in the sense that it's basically 20 minutes of nothing,The Number Twelve Looks Like You Nuclear. Sad. Nuclear.X (USA) Los Angeles4.0 excellentCircle Takes the Square Circle Takes the SquareNot as good as "As The Roots Undo", but still a worthy album. Though Houdini Logic is a good song, it still doesn't make this more than a four in my book.Dropkick Murphys The Warrior's CodeDropkick Murphys BlackoutFear Before Art DamageLars Frederiksen and the Bastards Lars Frederiksen And The BastardsThis is Lars Frederiksen's first solo album and it's excellent. The music is definitely not as good as it was with Rancid, but it's still good nonetheless. Catchy songs and some hardcore moments gives this a four.Morrissey Your ArsenalMuse AbsolutionI don't remember what led me to Muse, but I found Absolution to be a really great trip. Songs as epic as "Stockholm Syndrome" and "Hysteria" deserve repeated listens. This led me to some of their older stuff, but this is still my favorite Muse album.NOFX RibbedNOFX So Long and Thanks for All the ShoesNOFX White Trash, Two Heebs and a BeanRadiohead The BendsRancid RancidRefused Refused Are Fucking DeadThe Dillinger Escape Plan Irony Is a Dead SceneThe Fall of Troy Ghostship DemosThe Smiths The Queen Is DeadThrice VheissuTiger Army III: Ghost Tigers RiseTransplants Transplants3.5 greatAgainst Me! Keasby Nights was good with Catch 22, there was no need to re-make it, no matter how many band-fights you get into. The Mars Volta De-Loused in the ComatoriumTiger Army II: Power of Moonlite3.0 goodAgainst Me! The vocals did absolutley nothing for me, as a matter fact, nothing is really redeeming about this record. 0.5 points for the sleepyness factor.1.0 awfulThe Lashes Get ItFor The Lashes to call themselves "Indie" is ridiculous. They are just like every other cookie-cutter band out there just trying to make money.
