Long story short: this is an awesome cd by a criminally underappreciated band. Download 'Like Broken Glass', if you don't love it and immediately want to buy the whole album then you probably have some kind of aversion to things that are awesome.

Good, even great, but not the immediate classic most people are making it out to be IMHO. When I first listened to the album, it passed in one ear and out the other, there were just too many disparate ideas to absorb. On repeated listens, the album is more coherent, but compared to previous Mastodon tunes like Iron Tusk and Crusher Destroyer, which are built around solid repetitive riffs which stick in your mind, the 'all over the place' aspect of this CD is somewhat detrimental to its overall impact.

I thought the ham-fisted racket made by the Kaiser Chiefs was as bad as British indie could get. Then I heard this band. The songs are uninspired and bland enough, but the whole thing is made completely unlistenable by Alex Pennie yapping away like a barking poodle in the background of EVERY SINGLE TRACK. If you have functioning hearing and an IQ that goes into double figures, you'll avoid this car wreck of a CD.
