Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin II
Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon
Pink Floyd are without a doubt one of the Prog rock bands or any band of the last fifty years. Well known by all, beloved by many, Dark Side of the Moon proves just how spectacular a band truely can be. Each song blends with the next so well, so relaxing, so listenable and truely awe inspiring. Money, the most well known song the band has ever released features here and incredible as ever. Other songs to listen are Brain Damage, Eclipse, Breath, Time and Great Gig in the Sky. "I'll see you on the dark side of the Moon..." So I shall.
Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Love it, love it, love it! Never a dull moment, listenable and super. The song wish you were here is just bliss and the rest just as good. Even though its prog rock it never slows or has any anoying sound effects. Stunning album.
Red Hot Chili Peppers Californication
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are an Alt/rock band that have one of the most unique sounds in and out of their genre, and continued to push the boundaries with their ninth studio album Californication. From the moment this album goes into your CD player it fails to disappoint from start to finish. Its successful blend of soulful, rocking, relaxing, funk and awe inspiring musicianship from each member of the group shows the album through as a winner and a great album. Each song has the ability to reach out and grab you, telling you to play it again, and its sound is impossible to resist. It is defined my many Red Hot Chili Peppers fans and others as their crowning achievement, their sound as it were.

Californication is such a well rounded album in so many ways and is a must for any music lover or listener of music to buy…pure and utter genius.

4.5 superb
AFI The Art of Drowning
I have to give my hate of to Hep Kat on this one. It was his full review of this album that inspired me to listen to this, as a friend of mine gave me their entire recorded history plus rarities. From the start its a fantastic album that keeps yo listening the whole way through with little to disappoint. IT combines the old fast hard punky sound Afi soemwhat lack now-a-days and combines the grown up attitude of the new and superbly. This album is the best example of Afi's maturity in song wrritting with great songs such as "The lost souls", "6 to 8", "Of greetings and goodbyes" and "wester". Musicianship is another point of merit showing more complexity for a punk band from each member to keep you entertained. Cheers Hep!
Black Sabbath Paranoid
Coheed and Cambria From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness
Dream Theater Train of Thought
Dream Theater Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory
This album is something very different and soemthing very very good. Cant say a bad word about it, musicaly it fab, lyrically its on top and for the story line, pretty damn imaginative. I like concept albums, I like the creativity and new outlook on music it can give, and this one is the best example I can think of. Its overture is amazing, sums the music up so well. Awesome, truely.
Dream Theater Images and Words
Green Day Dookie
Green day appeared almost out of nowhere with their post Nirvana underground following storming in with Dookie. The bands first major success has brought the album such high critical acclaim, lured fans to the band, and given pop punk fans a benchmark for any album of the genre. With fairly short two to three minute tracks, that album keeps you on you toes and holds you interest with ease and the rawness of Billie Joe's early vocals enhances each song. Dookie is not a just a superb album as a whole, it created classics such as Basket Case, When I come around and the excellent lyrical presence of Longview. If you have on the other hand heard American Idiot, then expect as less grown up sound. Dookie is one of those rare moments in any genre that defines it, and makes a great listen.
Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
Jack Johnson In Between Dreams
When I first heard this guy I though Eeewu icky pop! But when I took the chance to actually listen his msuic semed right up my street. Its calm, relaxing and very good to listen to. I can imagine myself every time I listen to this just sitting down watching the world go by. Its just so good. Every track is a winner not one bad song...honestly!
Joe Satriani Surfing With The Alien
Joe Satriani is truely one of the guitar greats of our time. This album is proof of just how good he is and for and intrumentalist its not the regualtion technical buggery you may be acusmtomed to. HAbing no vocals means the guitar has to work the job of the riffing and soloing, but what Satch does is add it in place of the voice, and my god its amazing! His ability to make the solos sound so emotional and powerful (rather than just fast shredding) replaces any need for vocals and in it places does a fantastic job. Each song has the wow factor to make you sit up and take notice, smile and listen in wonder. The title track, Crushing day and Satch boogie are highlights on here. Amazing, truely amazing.
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin Led Zeppelin IV
Metallica Master of Puppets
A very worthy metal album that will undoubtably be remembered through the ages as a triumph of metal. From start to finish expect high octane stuff from the boys in Metallica. Not only is it an epic of an album but its catchy, not fall out boy catchy but actually a superb catchyness. If oyu dont have this, or have never heard this, well...um...why?!

RHCP have made yet another fine album. It funks, it rocks and its just such a good all round album (both discs). John plays some grand solos, Chad behind the drums does a good job here, Flea is pulling out bass line after bass line and Anthony's lyrics and vocals add to the great sound. Storm in a teacup is just funktastic and makes my day every time! It combines the old RHCP with that of recent records and in style. Buy it, dont miss out on this!
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Electric Ladyland
Tool Lateralus
Tool are one of the bands introduced to my through the medium of Sputnik, and not once have I looked back from the decision to purchase this or any of their albums. This aint your average band, combining elements of metal and a very eeire progressive nature to their sound, they are very different to anything out there. Danny Carey is a highlight with his powerful and sometimes jaw dropping skill on the kit, joining up with some quite awesome bass lines. Vocals howerver may not be to everyones fancy I might add but good none the less. A must have for metal/prog fans.

AFI Answer That and Stay Fashionable
AFI All Hallow's E.P.
This is a really good EP. Im not a fan of the EP record as they've always seemed to me to be a waste of money, but this one was given to me so I cant complain. Its songs are well structured for a punk band, showing good signs of what was to come in their later work. If you can find this go out and get it I say. Better than A Fire Inside EP.

Children of Bodom Hatebreeder
Children of Bodom Tokyo Warhearts
Children of Bodom eh. Fast, loud, aggressive, brutal, and not any of these essences are lost in the live arena. As good as a recorded version Tokyo Warhearts is a stand out from the crowd live metal album that is a must listen for any metalheads out there. Alexi is fantastic with ripp roaring solos and some above average vocals, it makes for an entertaining listen. An excellent all round live album. Thrash and mosh about till yout hearts content.
Children of Bodom Are You Dead Yet?
Could CoB get any more brutal? Technical? To fecking right! Previous releases see a very power metal side leak through from the keys and in some of the guitar work, where as in "Are You Dead Yet?" this is toend down to a certain degree in relation to other Bodom albums. With the lack of (not in a negative way) power metal influences, comes a heavy riff pattern that will delight the heaviest of metal fans. But the crowning feature of the album is Alexi's ability to raise the bar on his scream/growl, and with tremedous forse and power. t fits in well with this much faster, brutal, thrash like Bodom that has appeared from the noise of sheer heavy fucking metal. God bless you Cob, god bless...

Who cares if they sell out here, if every band sold out like this it be brill. Its not their best but if Metallica make record like this then they are still in my good books. Just everything after this sucked (except S&M). Its good if your getting into Metallica becuase its not as thrashy and easier to swallow then previous albums.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Live in Hyde Park
The Red Hot Chili Peppers had just released their third greatest hits album and went on tour to back up their compilation. So why not hold three shows in a great big park, with a capacity of seventy thousand each night. Well that’s just what these boys did and are the only band to date to sell out Hyde Park, and all tickets were gone in four hours. Didn’t get your ticket? Well here is your chance to experience the Chillies in their live state. Each member brings energy, style, physical presence and all put together creating a kick arse show. Their on stage chemistry as a band allows them to perform almost seamlessly and to improvise solos and interludes with no errors. Each of these grand musicians brings the full range of their talents out to show case in this great live album. Performing classics and new tracks this album has a high class of entertainment value. Some stand out tracks are th Intro, Can't Stop, Parallel Universe and Give It Away. Its well worth the look in for this double album.

Dream Theater Octavarium
The new record from Dream Theater was for me a let down. Many songs on the album are rather dull, plain and just filler really. Yet on here are some real good instrumental moments. The only real songs of note are Panic Attack with the most awesome bass solo I have ever heard, and the title track, providing 24 minutes of solid music. Only those tracks, and Dream Theaters musical ability on the tracks really redeem it. For the die hard fans a must have, for those not into Dream Theater, a no no.
Green Day American Idiot
Almost timeless pop punk rockers Green day returned to form after a hiatus with their new and controversial concept album, American Idiot. Green day have set off on a different note to their last previous albums with what they consider a more "mature" sound. Billie Joes' lyrics throughout the album portray this grown up sound as well as story line. The story, a young bored disillusioned suburban boy who leaves his life for an adventure in what seems to be the bright lights of a city. When he arrives he meets various characters and has some enlightening complications. But as the album progresses he finds it not what its cracked up to be and leaves in a torrent of fury. American Idiot is fast, up beat, with a hint of political message (hence the controversy) and could be not what old Green day fans expect. Although the album is worth a shot, buy it, you could be surprised.

This album intersted me enough to buy it and after liking the Eurovision entry I was further intrigued. But its dull repetative and few well written songs. A let down in my opinion. Other than the catchy single thats all thats here to offer.

The Darkness One Way Ticket To Hell And Back
Having really enjoyed their debute album, I was very much anticipating the return of the Darkness. But the spangly catsuit waering rockers just flooped on this album. No really tracks actually offer anything to really sit up and listen to. Its just got average written all over it. Buy Permission to land over this any day.

2.0 poor
AFI Decemberunderground
Having been very used to lots of AFI (I own all their recorded history including demos and rearities) I was disappointed with the direction they took. Its not fast, not in your face but very dull boring and plain. Its a much darker less care free look on music differing from previous releases. For those of you who are fans of AFI this might not be up your street, becuase it'll just disappoint you to be brutally honest.

1.5 very poor
Angels and Airwaves We Don't Need to Whisper
Well this album really is quite awful. After listening to the album to make my own mind up I came to the conclusion that all its doubters and haters were right. From the long and over pretensius intros, to the horrible vocals its just not good at all. The intros are long and very pointless, like they have tried for a prog style, and failed miserabley. The musicianship seems to simple to warrant merit at all. And Tom Delounge, he really can't sing, its the cringe facter plus the oh dear factor. Stay away from this.
