Now with their second album Hatebreeder released in 1999 Children of Bodom took what they started on Something Wild and perfected it. I first heard ?Bed of Razors? and was hooked from there. With melodic guitar lines, harsh vocals and catchy riffs. Janne Warmen also plays an important role with his superb skills on the keys, he and Alexi produce some amazing solos. Although never known for his writing skills. Alexi Laiho was at his peak of songwriting here in my opinion. This was most evident in their debut album Dreams of Endless war released in 2002. The harsh vocals, shredding guitar and keyboard solos but even with this Norther manage to put out an enjoyable, catchy yet brutal album. The lyrics are cold, depressing and they fit the music. Dreams of endless war is essentially a power metal album heavily influenced by Children of Bodom. Songs like Dream, Last Breath and Endless war make this a great album no matter how influenced it is by CoB.
