I don't have an issue with bands changing their style. I really liked The Understanding, despite the fact that it was pretty far removed from the sexiness of Melody A.M. I don't even mind them going a bit more mainstream. But this is just so bland, so dainty, so - dare I say it - commercial! It's the type of thing you'd dance outside in the daisies on a summer's day. It's pleasant enough and it's pretty, but it's not something I'd have a serious listen to.

3 Doors Down Away from the Sun
3 Doors down are a band which try to do far too many things in one album. They are trying to incorporate soft rock with heavy riffs and it just doesn't blend. The construction of the songs is extremely transparent and I just got the feeling that different sections of the songs had been written seperately and shoddily bridged together.
They seem to change the tone, key and mood of their songs just for the sake of variation and it just has the effect of jumping around quite a lot. I feel that their ballads (When I'm gone, Here without you) and the softer songs are genuinely good songs and they need to stop sticking bits in because they feel that's what a song should have.

2.0 poor
