I honestly think this is the best album ATB has written. It's them at their most refined. If you like ATB, this is about as pure an ATB experience as you can hope to get.

Listening to the stream for the second time now and I'm very impressed. The concept itself is interesting and the whole album has a cohesive sound. Very very noisy, yet melodic, great pounding bass and pulsating rhythms. Like the someone below said, this is sex music, it's both dirty and beautiful. Inaccessible and accessible at the same time.
I like how most of the songs end with long musical interludes which expand on the melodies Trent sings. And his singing, wow, I say this the best his voice has ever sounded, and it doesn't overshadow the music either.
It's hard to choose a highlight with an album as solid as this. This album is TIGHT yet expansive, you hear something new with repeat listens. This is Trent at the very top of his game. I can't wait to purchase this album and see what other goodies the album sleeve contains.

This is a non-stop barrage of riffs I love every second of it. The occasional female backing vocals make certain sections feel epic.

Solid album. It doesn't hit the consistent highs of As The Kingdom Drowns, but it does feel like a continuation of it. "Enslavement" is probably one of the best, and most unique sounding songs they've ever produced.

Sylosis A Sign of Things to Come
I've been a huge fan of Sylosis since the first album, so I eagerly await all their new releases.

I need to listen to this new album a few more times to really let it sink in, but right now I'd
rate it a 3.0. Their weakest work imo, but still good. Any long-time fan should get some enjoyment
out of this.

Traditional Sylosis is still in here, but they're really trying to balance it with a slightly more
stripped down songwriting approach. You're still getting some ridiculous shred solos, great
melodies, and finger-twisting riffs. It's just that many of the songs have less twists and turns
than Sylosis normally writes. I think the songs 'Pariahs' and 'Judas' are the most traditional
sounding.

There's definitely much more emphasis on hooky/anthemic vocals and choruses. Which, to be fair,
Sylosis has done to varying degrees before. Think of songs like 'Leech' or 'Mercy' from their
Dormant Heart album, "I Sever" from Cycle of Suffering. Hell, the ninth track off this new album,
'Thorns' reminds me of the final track from Edge of the Earth. But rather than sprinkling this
element in two or three songs throughout the album, you've got nearly an entire album where these
moments are injected in the songs.

This definitely feels like a crossroads for them. Hopefully the future brings a better fusion of
their old approach with this new one. All that said, if this is them trying to add broader appeal
to their songs, I would say it's better than what the average metal band puts out. It's just not
as unique as what Sylosis has done on their 5 previous albums.
Sylosis The Path
I think this is solid. It veers more into the denser, darker songwriting of something like EotE. Very aggressive with on the nose lyrics, but it fits the tone.
The Agonist Five
I'm surprised to see so much negativity towards this album. It's certainly their weakest album, but it is far from bad. Any fan of theirs should find enough to enjoy. It could have benefited from cutting 3 or 4 tracks that honestly sound like B-sides.rI see a lot of complaints about Vicky's vocals. She's definitely playing things a bit looser and rougher with her harsh vocals, but I think that's deliberate. It doesn't always work, but I don't think she ever actually fails. Her cleans are spectacular, though. On the last album I felt like she was trying to do her best impression of Alissa (and nailing it), which I can understand given the fact that she was plucked from obscurity and was suddenly fronting a band (something she had never done before). I think this is her being more of herself, which might need a little more work or time to get used to.rSome of the biggest problems with the album are technical. I don't know what they were going for, but the mix doesn't sound as clear as their previous two albums. If anything this sounds closer to the mix on their first album.rI may write a full review of the album seeing as I seem to have a different opinion of it than most people rating here.
The Agonist Orphans
The Birthday Massacre Superstition
With this release they coalesced all the variations in their sound throughout the years into one album. It is the culmination of everything they've ever done and really focused on the synths over the actual instruments. But in another sense it reminds me a lot of Violet. It's definitely more "retro" sounding than their recent releases.rThe only noticeable downside is that it is missing any real heavy hitting tracks, which are generally my favorites. This album still drips with atmosphere, though.rI think it'll be a grower. I'll probably rate it higher once I hear the songs performed live.
