| I truly wish that Carach Angren could recapture the hunger they had for their first four albums. Franckensteina Strataemontanus, however, does not find them doing this. It is particularly noticeable that the high points here are mundane and mediocre, never once touching the better parts of their discography, and the lows are truly plumbing the depths of their already-stale formula from the previous album. Moments from Blood Queen and Funerary Dirge are repeated here in far worse form, and the only truly good song was The Necromancer. It isn't unlistenable, but if 1.5 is 'very poor' then that is what this record becomes by the end of its 50 minute runtime (far too long). |
