I know why you're here. And, yeah, who cares. ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL is the shit. Even if the rest of the album was bad (it's not), it's good enough to carry a shitty album.
Cannibal Corpse Vile
Deftones private music

Not necessarily a classic, but an absolutely exquisite album. Flawless production, great ideas, doesn't sacrifice composition for technicality or technicality for composition, and has a substantial uplifting, beautiful aura about it.

This album absolutely kills. I am typing filler to hit the required word floor.

Night Verses Every Sound Has a Color...: Part I
This was a SUPER pleasant listen. Impressed by the creativity, energy, and fun on display. Super technical? Check. Long, drawn-out, selfish and boring? Not at all.
Nothingface Violence
Raised Fist From the North
This album slams. It's at least worth a 4 taken against the Raised Fist discography. It's Veil of Ignorance part 2 - but a little less heavy. And then simultaneously, even heavier in some instances. Very fun ride.

YAYAYAYAYAYAYA. Young me enjoyed this back in the "Dream Theater are incredible" days. Still a cool album today. Jarzombek brothers are pretty nuts.
The End (CAN) Elementary
The Faceless Planetary Duality
The Forsaken Manifest Of Hate
Super good album, considering its release date. It's almost a proto-deathcore album, but still maintains the melodeath roots. No singing or softness here, though - vocals are brutal as hell the whole time. Solos rip. Bass tone is chunky and low. Blasts abound.rThese guys never got their due.

Dr. Hook Doctor Hook
I find the compilation releases better than their actual albums, specifically the "Dr. Hook Revisited" album, but these guys are great fun. Always a perfect to put on while having a few cold ones with the boys; Dr. Hook is one of those acts everyone tends to know at least one song by and never have complaints about the ones they don't, since Hook is such a fun time even when being sappy. Almost like a prototype Barenaked Ladies in that regard. But with the Wolfman. And more drugs than Steven Page.
Ghost Brigade Isolation Songs
Gravity Noir
Great album, don't have much more to say than that. It doesn't stray too far from it's metalcore-ish roots, but pulls no punches, has some lovely moments of surprising melody, good hooks, and often contains that unique French "bop" Gorod features. All in all you won't regret your time with this one, and the track title track, Noir is a real treat. Bonus: imo the best female frontman in the metal game.
Ihlo Union
In Flames Foregone
Insomnium One for Sorrow
Into Eternity Into Eternity
Karnivool Themata
Krosis A Memoir of Free Will
Just came off listening to Infinite Circuitry which struck me as less good than this. Going to revisit this now to confirm if I'm making up stuff or not. This album stuck with me for awhile, though, and so far nothing on the new release hits as hard, at least I don't think it does.
edit: I confirm I prefer Memoir to Infinite Circuitry.
Martyr Feeding the Abscess
Osiah Loss
Remina Erebus
Symphony X Underworld
TesseracT Sonder
Rating is 3.5 strictly because Luminary is an absolutely fantastic song. Album in a whole is a "fine" listen, but nothing is remotely as good as Luminary. I do like that the album doesn't overstay its welcome like their other three releases that plod along with plenty of filler do.
The Contortionist Intrinsic
The Decemberists The King Is Dead
The Safety Fire Grind the Ocean
Wide Eyes Paradoxica
Winterfylleth The Imperious Horizon

3.0 good
Born of Osiris Through Shadows
i'm gooning and i'm not even done listening to the first song yet fuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
Chimaira Pass Out of Existence
Dark Plague The Threshold Of Death
Solid release. Nothing revolutionary here, but it's a good "blackgaze" type of album. Performance from Paradis is outstanding, but that's par for the course with him.
Osiah Kairos
Rivers of Nihil Rivers of Nihil
The Safety Fire Mouth of Swords

2.5 average
Earthside Let The Truth Speak
Harakiri for the Sky Scorched Earth
Damn. Did these guys really just write the same album again?
Kardashev Liminal Rite
This album could be outstanding - I even WANT it to be outstanding - but the production is so bafflingly poor I can't get past it. If the song writing/performances were on par or released around the same time as, let's say, Symphony X's "Paradise Lost" I'd be able to excuse it. However, the performances aren't of that caliber and this album was released a decade-and-a-half later. I struggle to rate this anything above average. Better production immediately takes this into 3.5-4 territory. Better performances would, as well, but because we're lacking synergy between band and production it can never be higher than average IMO. Who am I? A literal fucking nobody. Fair enough. Consider the aforementioned Paradise Lost or the original LOG As The Palaces Burn for examples of what I mean as far as synergy between band and production. Neither album has stellar production, but they're both certified bangers where the specific production adds to "it" - whatever "it" is.rBecause "Liminal Rite" lingers somewhere in the middle with production akin to the black head on your nose that you resign to ignoring because you can't address it otherwise, we must rate this average, even if we really, really want to like it. rPS: I'm sure you're really, really handsome and it's just that darn blemish you can't get rid of that's ruining your rizz.
Krosis Infinite Circuitry
Seems worse than memoir to me, but it's been a minute. Might have to revise this.
edit: I have confirmed I prefer Memoir to this.
Sleep Token Sundowning
The Faceless Autotheism

1.5 very poor
Sleep Token This Place Will Become Your Tomb

1.0 awful
All That Remains AntiFragile
I don't get how this band has been around 20 years, released one good album during that entire time frame, and still exists.
Between the Buried and Me The Parallax II: Future Sequence
Dog Fashion Disco Anarchists of Good Taste '18
This absolutely sucks compared to the original. Not even close, boys. Not even close.
In Flames Sounds of a Playground Fading
Raised Fist Anthems
Album is whack. Awful production, songs don't make sense, "rapcore Fist?", lyrics read like they were written by a 13 year old. Even Sound of the Republic dropkicks this sack of crap through the drywall.
Sleep Token Take Me Back to Eden
I couldn't believe how boring this album was. I thought with The Summoning, we might be getting something actually good here, but alas, it's just more of the same boring, meaningless loves songs, overproduction, no riffs, and nothing interesting happening. And... and an attempt at R&B? The ultimate Theater Kid(TM) band. I can't believe people used to make fun of Slipknot but these guys are blowing up and people think they're "deep" and "important." The NuMetal 2.0 wave has much, much better acts. These guys could be really great - they had promise on One and Two - but have not even come remotely close to delivering the goods. Meanwhile, VOLA exists.
