5.0 classic
Greyhaven Empty Black
Greyhaven This Bright and Beautiful World
Invent Animate Heavener (Definitive)
Invent Animate Heavener
Phenomenal performances from everyone, great production, solid pacing, and deep atmosphere
make this (so far) the best album of the year. Sorry Periphery
Ithaca They Fear Us
Jeff Buckley Grace
Karmanjakah A Book About Itself
Karmanjakah Ancient Skills
Imagine unironically giving this a 2.5. This shit slaps.
Thornhill Heroine
Void of Vision Chronicles I: Lust
Some smashing and mashing. I like it I guess, good stuff

4.5 superb
A Lot Like Birds Conversation Piece
Darko (US) Starfire
Only song I'm not feeling 100% is Green Machine, but other than that this is phenomenal. Fantastic follow-up to Oni.
Darko (US) Oni
Turns out I love crazy alien noises! Who would've known? Legit used to hate deathcore, this album actually got me into it. Some solid stuff here, especially the softer stuff
Drewsif Stalin's Musical Endeavors Anhedonia
ERRA Augment
Greyhaven Stereo Grief
First two songs are absolutely insane. Other three are amazing as well. From a song consistency standpoint, pretty much as good as Empty Black
Greyhaven Keep It Quiet
Invent Animate The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was
Leprous Pitfalls
Loathe (UK) I Let It In And It Took Everything
Nuclear Power Trio A Clear and Present Rager
Thornhill Butterfly
Thornhill Bodies
Void of Vision Chronicles II: Heaven

4.0 excellent
Bleed from Within Shrine
Blue October Spinning the Truth Around (Part II)
Liked this more than Part 1, has many more songs I go back to. Personal highlights for me are All
I See is You, Sobriety, and Slow Down. Very solid stuff
Cane Hill Cane Hill
Some insane riffs throughout. Especially for a first body of work, great stuff. That guitar intro in "Sunday School" is beyond amazing
Darko (US) Dethmask, Pt. 2
Darko (US) Darko

Can't wait for pizzamachine to have another W and give this a 5
Dayseeker Dark Sun
Can totally understand the backlash of the album, especially from the more metalcore fans (me being one of them). However, I found this album thoroughly enjoyable. From the synths, to the great vocals, to the occasional instrumentals, this albums creates some amazing atmosphere at times, especially with the final song. That being said, I do with the album in general had a little more variation, and I think the instrumentals are a little too underutilized (for example, the final song had the most instrumentals, and it is phenomenal). Overall, a solid album, highly recommend if you're either looking for something different or are a fan of pop.
Diamond Construct Angel Killer Zero
Virtually every time Pikazilla hates something, I am guaranteed to like it (bro seriously gave rHeavener a 1.5).
Dreamwake Virtual Reality
Gold Necklace Gold Necklace
Greyhaven Cult America
Maybe a little rough around the edges and not
as good as their future work, but still a
surprisingly good start for these guys. Overall
solid performances all round, and they only get
better in future releases. Also really heavy on
the social commentary, which is nice. First
two, She, and The Absolute American are
personal favorites.
Holding Absence The Noble Art of Self-Destruction
Knocked Loose You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
CANNOT wait for Pikazilla to give another good 2024 album a 1.5
Leprous Aphelion
Moodring Your Light Fades Away
Nuclear Power Trio Wet Ass Plutonium
Periphery Periphery IV: Hail Stan
Periphery Periphery V: Djent Is Not a Genre
Saving this for when it comes out so I don't have to come back. Plus it deserves a 4 just for the title tbh
Royal Coda To Only a Few at First
Royal Coda Compassion
Sleep Token This Place Will Become Your Tomb
Sleep Token Take Me Back to Eden
The definition of having variety and consistency. Outclasses anything before this. Also love the
Dead Space moon album cover. Casual Sleep Token W.
Sleep Token Two
Spiritbox The Fear of Fear
Not a single song misses, will probably go to a 4.5
Stolas Allomaternal
ten56. Downer
TesseracT War of Being
Thornhill The Dark Pool
Thornhill The Dark Pool (Isolated Vocals)
Thornhill The Dark Pool (Instrumentals)
thrown Extended Pain
To The Grave Director’s Cuts
Vexes Imagine What We Could Destroy / If Only Given Time
Void of Vision Chronicles III: Underworld
Producer: How many electronics do you want?rVoid of Vision: YES

3.5 great
Alpha Wolf Half Living Things
Robert Garland giving this a 3.7 is unfathomably based. Surprised it was that high.
Avenged Sevenfold Life Is But A Dream...
HOLY SHIT THIS IS ACTUALLY GOOD??? I hated the singles, given the insanely bad vocals, but the rest of the album is not half bad. The vocals are significantly better, especially on Cosmic, and the use of orchestral elements helps to pace the album out. Biggest surprise of 2023 in terms of quality, in a good way.
Blue October Spinning the Truth Around (Part I)
Bring Me The Horizon POST HUMAN: NeX GEn
Unironically gave this a one before I even listened to it since I thought I'd hate it like with Amo and Survival Horror but this is actually quite good! liMOusIne is just a moodring/deftones ripoff (like the riff is almost the same as the opening of SYNC.wav by Moodring), but its still good. Some of the vocal effects/synths are NOT it, but they still get the job done. TLDR: It had some issues, but it's much better than I though it would be.
Cane Hill A Piece of Me I Never Let You Find
Darko (US) Dethmask, Pt. 1
Fox Lake New World Heat
Many of the songs sound pretty similar tbh, but MAN these guys do not lack energy. Some good breakdowns and features throughout.
Karnivool Asymmetry
Moodring Stargazer
Northlane Obsidian
Silent Planet Superbloom
Sleep Token Sundowning
Sleep Token One
The Devil Wears Prada Color Decay
Thornhill 13
Veil of Maya [m]other
Got some awesome stuff, SUPER heavy. Clean vocals feel a little out of place, with [re]connect being the only song that does them well. Overall solid shit

3.0 good
Bring Me The Horizon Sempiternal
Northlane Mirror's Edge

2.5 average
Architects The Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit
This isn't necessarily a bad album, but I think it greatly suffers overall. I think that the singles are pretty good, especially "deep fake", but the rest of the album save for the closer is lacking in energy and creativity. Significant amounts of this album sound so similar it hurts, and overall it just doesn't hit as hard as For Those That Wish to Exist. Hope they can turn it around with a future album, since I think this sounds does indeed have potential, especially if they delve into their heavier elements.rOverall, not a *bad* album by any means, but not super interesting given many other releases this year (Thornhill, TDWP, Northlane, etc.).
Architects For Those That Wish to Exist
Bad Omens The Death of Peace of Mind
Overall decent album. Some songs are a little to forgettable/formulaic, however the rest of them are very versatile. Very good atmosphere all-around, with solid production and mixing. Good performances in general help complement it.rFavorite songs: ARTIFICIAL SUICIDE, IDWY$, THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MINDrLeast favorite songs: Nowhere to Go, bad decisions, Just Pretend
Currents The Death We Seek
Similar song structures and lengths hinder this record from making a lasting impact. Loved new Invent Animate, however this lacks the emotional power, riffs, breakdowns, and especially ambiance that made that record my favorite of this year. Not a bad record by any means, but just nothing particularly good about it.

2.0 poor
The Callous Daoboys Celebrity Therapist

1.5 very poor
Bring Me The Horizon amo
Bring Me The Horizon POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR
Parkway Drive Darker Still
Overall a pretty mediocre album. Some parts are exciting, such as the fast-paced "Soul
Bleach", and the triumphant "Imperial Heretic", but the rest of the album (including these
songs, actually) suffer from to say the least atrocious lyrics and vocal delivery.
Wtf.................. Some parts are vocally interesting, such as some brutal deliveries on
"Soul Bleach", but overall it's just insanely cringe. It's even sadder that the instrumentals
aren't *terrible* per say, but overall are still unoriginal and bland at times. Overall,
don't bother unless you're looking to laugh at the absolutely CRINGE vocals. And don't even
get me started on "If a God Can Bleed".......
