This is solid... some good songs like "Erase Me" and a few others like "Drown With Me" with
it's crushing ending breakdown... and then some really really bad and lazy ones like "Soul
Decay" which uses a riff from earlier in the song as it's big breakdown moment, and "Fake
Your Own Death" which literally uses the exact same section for 90% of the song.

as the other guy said it would be cool if they did something a bit more unique, or made the new metal sound their own a bit more. Something about this feels a bit TOO derivative

As I Lay Dying Shaped by Fire
Asking Alexandria Asking Alexandria
Bad Omens Finding God Before God Finds Me
Beartooth Below
Bleed from Within Shrine
All the songs on this album are solid. Solid choruses, solid verses, and a lot of solid
breakdowns. Despite attempts to differentiate each song from each other, such as the sort of
black metal-ish influence in "flesh and stone", this album still suffers from many of the
songs sounding extremely similar. The singles manage to differentiate themselves somewhat.
With "Stand down" having one chorus and "I am damnation" having and extremely memorable
riff. Unfortunately many of the non-singles on this album just blend into each other.Their
last record had the same issue. This band is clearly very capable in terms of both
songwriting and their technicality but the sameness of these songs show they still have a
long way to go before they release anything incredible. Hopefully in a couple of records
they'll release something that taps into more of their potential. And again, by no means are
any of these songs bad. They're mostly good standard songs for them. But there's nothing
here truly impressive or worth listening to on repeat. It's a solid standard metalcore
record, but not one I'll likely listen to again fully anytime soon. Although I'll probably
still spin "stand down" quite often, as in my opinion that is by far the best song on the
record.
