A solid offering to what would eventually turn into the Vermilion-D Alice Syndrome project. |

A collection of songs from various Studio Ghibli films performed by a handful of melodeath/metalcore bands (Disarmonia Mundi and Blood Stain Child being the more notable names of the bunch). The concept is certainly interesting, and the music ain't too shabby either. Some covers work out better than others (my personal favorite being Disarmonia Mundi's rendition of "Kimi wo Nosete" from Castle in the Sky) and it works better in smaller doses, but for the concept alone, it's definitely worth at least a curious peek.
Also, if you ever wanted to hear a melodeath cover of "Take Me Home, Country Roads", this album has it. It's just fun. |

| Mostly more of the same from the first Princess Ghibli compilation, with some slight differences. Just about every band from Princess Ghibli I returns along with two new bands in Rise to Fall and The Stranded (although The Stranded being new is a bit of a stretch considering it's just a Disarmonia Mundi side project). There's also more of an electronic influence here that's not limited to Blood Stain Child being on the album, which can be hit or miss for some. And lastly, there doesn't seem to be as many highs as on the previous compilation, but there's still a decent cover here and there. Overall, it's only really worth it if you liked the first Princess Ghibli. |
