5.0 classic
156/Silence Narrative
Wow I can't believe what a HUGE step up this
album is from Irrational Pull. Thanks
to Covid they couldn't tour for that album so
they ended up writing this one shortly after.
They experiment with subtle hints of melody and
sci-fi themes while mostly exploring the feelings
of being angry, frustrated, lost, helpless, and
alone. Listening to
this album is like walking through a burning
corridor not really knowing what lurks around the
corner....such a frantic, unsettling piece of
work that has plenty of juxtaposing genres
waiting to erupt at any moment. Think Will Haven
meets Plasticbag Face Mask and Five Star Prison
Cell with a touch of Blood Youth, SikTh, and
FRCTD. Can't
believe this album dropped on such a commerical
label tbh. 44 minutes just zooms by and I can see
these boys surpassing, Vein.fm, Code Orange, and
Knocked Loose in terms of popularity in the
future.

Oh yeah I bumped this from a 4 to a 5 because I'm
in a dark place right now and this album speaks
to me.
Destrage So much. Too much.
After that last album I did not expect anything
of this calibur.....what an experimental
barnburner blurring the lines of alternative,
hard rock, pop, psychdelic, and metal.....a
middle finger to
all the by-the-numbers metalcore bands
overcrowding the genre. Now all we need is new
SikTh, Hypno5e, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo, and
Follow The White Rabbit. Oh yeah that random
cover of Vaseline thrown in there towards the end
is icing on an already delicious cake.
Stabbing Westward Chasing Ghosts
This is my new favorite Stabbing Westward album. It's a great culmination of their past work mixed with the production of The Dreaming making them sound more modern, fresh, and relevant than ever. Repeated listens uncover layers upon layers of hidden depth. 5/5
The Butterfly Effect IV
I wanted to give this a 4 because they didn't
include 5 Golden Rings on here, but I have a
feeling that will be on their next disc. After
listening to this nonstop over the weekend I can
safely(and easily) say this is their best and
most well-rounded album. I just wish it was about
10 minutes longer because it goes by sooooo fast.
Also the singles fit incredibly well within the
context of the album. In this new age of milking
the singles for what seems like years it's always
nice when they still sound fresh when sprinkled
thoughout the album. Some of the riffs on here
are colossal and every member does a great job at
bringing something fun/extraordinary to the
table. This surely isn't The Butterfly of
yesterday this is a forward thinking modernized
incarnation of them where both darkness and hope
fight for the spotlight and I freaking love it.
Ahhh
2022 the year of the comebacks.....Stabbing
Westward anyone and maybe SikTh??? ??

4.0 excellent
Banks Arcade Future Lovers
Ok this album absolutely does NOT deserve to be
review bombed. Every song on here (including the
atmospheric opener and the two interlude-esque
ones) have some sort of staying power and will
hit you in the feels if you allow it to.
Their dynamism will only get better with time.
Yeah I loved Endnote and Fever Dreams, but those
didn't resonate with me as much as this thing.
Maybe I'm just a sucker for the shoegaze(lite),
nu, alt, pop, indie, and r&b that's in this
album. Very professionally executed with plenty
of aggression sprinkled thoughout the 13 tender
cuts. Think Sleep Token/The Ansible/Mooodring
meets Pridelands, My Ticket Home, and *gasp*
eightfourseven. 4/5
Bush The Art Of Survival
This album didn't immediately click with me like
the last one did because you really do need to
sit and enjoy it as a whole much like Razorblade
Suitcase and The Science Of Things. Loving it
even more after each spin as they have really
crammed alot of cool ideas into each song.
Another big surprise for 2022 as I did not expect
an album so complete. They have expanded upon
their past offerings(as well as the sounds found
in Institute) with this release as they now sound
modern, fresh, relevant, and hungry af. 1000
Years is my new favorite Bush song.
thoughtcrimes Altered Pasts
Without Waves Comedian

3.5 great
Deadly Circus Fire Extinction
Stale production aside, this is a very decent offering from the lads. It's not as epic as The Hydra's Tailor, but it's a bit more experimental and accessible at the same time. This thing is a grower so please give it a few spins to let it sink in. Sirens is imo the best song on here so atleast give that one a listen.

1.0 awful
Muse Will of the People
Only a couple decent moments on here for me. What
a waste of time and talent. The Butterfly
Effect's new album completely destroys this as
does does Glow/To Lose A Name, by
Unjust....respectfully so of course. Also if you
want something like older Muse, but with elements
of The Crystal Method and The Prodigy check out
the self-titled 2005 album by a band called
Miocene.
