5.0 classic
Jason Isbell Southeastern
Straight talk, no cliches, this dude is a poet. Catchy, smart, and sometimes triggering stuff here
Lee Morgan Search for the New Land
One of my favorite jazz albums of all time. Wish Morgan and Green had recorded more together
Marvin Gaye What's Going On
This album is an anti-depressant for me. As I get older I listen to it less because I want
to and more because I need to. If the aliens come and take me tonight and ask me what my
species is capable of, I'm putting this LP on. If like me you know this album through and
through, listen to the "Detroit mix", it will spin your head
Pile Dripping
Richard and Linda Thompson I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight
Unbelievable that this isn't more widely regarded as a classic in the US. In my top 20 of
all time. Masterful songwriting, well recorded and mixed. The guitar playing is inventive
and interesting, nice full bouncy bass guitar, lots of layers of folk instruments without
sounds like a 70s folk album. The songs range across a wide spectrum of emotional color:
there are stompers, dirges, the anthemic title track... Little Beggar Girl sounds like a
shanty to my ears. And Linda Thompson's voice cuts a groove right into your brain.

4.5 superb
Brian Eno Another Green World
Freddie Hubbard Open Sesame
Could listen all day. Actually I have several times
Gene Clark No Other
I'm not a Byrds fan, didn't care for other Gene Clark albums, and GTFO out of here with this cover art. rOnly gave this a chance because I'm listenting through the Dimery book, glad I did. Damn this is good
Neil Young On the Beach
Missed this one during my Neil Young awakening because it wasn't on CD. Amazing to find this now, both of us in our 40s. Walk On, Revolution Blues, and Ambulance Blues are standouts. I'll keep going back to this one for awhile
Pile Magic Isn't Real
So happy i found this band. This and Dripping are on constant rotation in my house the last
two years

4.0 excellent
Gram Parsons Grievous Angel
Randy Newman Good Old Boys

3.5 great
Guided by Voices Surrender Your Poppy Field
It's inconsistent but hell what GBV album isn't? Even Alien Lanes has alot of stuff you've likely long forgotten about, but the bangers are strong. rThe first two tracks on this are worth investing the 20ish minutes it takes to listen to this album. Year of the Hard Hitter has a great hook. The last two are pretty solid too.
Hayden The Closer I Get
Robert Wyatt Rock Bottom
The Dictators Go Girl Crazy!
The NY Dolls were doing it better and before long the Buzzcocks would be too but still this is fun and funny proto punk. Ramones get mentioned alot with them but I hear Television just as much

2.5 average
Bob Marley and The Wailers Natty Dread
Steely Dan Pretzel Logic
