A.A.L. (Against All Logic) 2017-2019
Aphex Twin Drukqs
4.3 - Points off for being bloated as hell, but points added for having amazing tracks like Vordhosbn, Jynweythek
and Mt Saint Michel. |
Aphex Twin Come To Daddy
Highlights are obviously Flim and IZ-US, the rest is not too shabby, Bucephalus has some amazing drum programming.
Arca KiCk i

Charli XCX Brat

Has a purpose, serves it well, points for being ahead of the synthwave explosion that dominated the mid-2010s.
Crystal Castles Crystal Castles II
Daft Punk Random Access Memories
Daft Punk always followed their heart, and I commend them for that.
Depeche Mode Violator
4.3 - Album is growing on me. Policy of Truth and Blue Dress are amazing.
Depeche Mode Black Celebration
As with most DP albums, Gores ballads are sandwiched inbetween the foundational tracks and I always think they drag the album down. Black Celebration, Fly on the Windscreen, Stripped, Dressed in Black and New Dress are enough to warrant this atleast a 4.3 though.
Digitalism Idealism
Extrawelt Extra Welt Hits 2005 - 2020

One of the most misunderstood electronic albums, this is a great album if you understand whats its for, this is music stripped to its essentials, becoming one with the rhythm and letting go of the need to control your body, put this on your speaker and dance to it.

The robots seem a bit more depressed here, there is some underlying emptiness in these tracks, still bangs though.

Shinichi Atobe Heat

Alot of music that tries to be unique comes off as forced, this on the other hand sounds completely natural and like her true voice.

The Avalanches Since I Left You
The Future Sound of London Lifeforms
The Human League Dare!
The Knife Deep Cuts
Some obvious classics but the basic ass production leaves alot to be desired.
The Knife Shaking the Habitual
The Knife did a 180, took a risky approach in both sound and structure, a rebirth like that will result in alot of tedious experimentation and alot of brilliance.
Thievery Corporation The Mirror Conspiracy
Tiga Sexor
u-Ziq Lunatic Harness
Underworld dubnobasswithmyheadman
Great melodies and hooky, great synthwork, super well produced but... a little safe maybe, I cant really think of any moments that wow me or that I want to go back to, and way too long, STITI will always be my favourite.
Whitehouse Bird Seed
3.5 great
Alva Noto Transform
Andreas Tilliander World Industries
Andy Stott Faith in Strangers
Arca KicK iii
Arca is a genius at what she does but she often stumbles into the problem of demanding alot from you without giving
you much fun while listening, there is alot of cool ideas here but its so close to giving me a headache too. Wish she
wouldnt be afraid to strip back and lighten up a bit. Sometimes music is the silence inbetween the notes. |
Astral Projection Trust in Trance
Autechre Draft 7.30
Avicii True
Barker Stochastic Drift
Barker Utility
Disclosure Settle
A bit too safe and accessible but not too daring which makes it quite dull after a few listens, you get some clean and solid garage, house beats and alot of great features and thats about it. Help Me Lose My Mind will always be nostalgic to me though.
Dorian Electra Flamboyant
FKA Twigs LP1
Giant Claw Mirror Guide
Goldfrapp Black Cherry
Honey is sweet and drips slowly, but I cant have an entire jar of it at once. Black Cherry is a heartbreaking and wonderful song though full of regret and nostalgia.
Hudson Mohawke Butter
Huerco S Plonk
Iglooghost Tidal Memory Exo
Jessy Lanza Pull My Hair Back
Lotic Heterocetera
Magdalena Bay Mercurial World
Mat Zo Damage Control
Max Cooper Yearning for the Infinite
Perpetual Motion is the standout track here. I just think the rest sounds a little run of the mill glitch-wise and not engaging enough.
Mount Kimbie Crooks & Lovers
Superb production but ultimately nothing more than that, I understand this albums importance and influence
though.
Edit: Growing on me. |
NOISIA Outer Edges
Oneohtrix Point Never Garden of Delete
Forgoes the brevity of Replica in an attempt to be unique, I find myself coming back to only a handful of songs. Ezra, Sticky Drama and Animals are the highlights.
Plastikman Sheet One
Plasticine is a banger but acid techno tends to drag in album format.
Portishead Dummy
Rustie Glass Swords
Surph is ultimately the only thing I will come back to here, points for overall uniqueness though.
Ryoji Ikeda Supercodex
Second Woman S/W
Cool stuff but a bit cold and underdeveloped, hope to see these guys expand on these experiments more.
Sophie Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides
Suzanne Ciani Seven Waves
Teebs Ardour
The Bug London Zoo
The Flashbulb Kirlian Selections
Kirlian Isles II is one of my favourite songs of 2021 but the album as a whole is pretty much just decent. Benn
Jordan has an awesome Youtube channel though that you should check out! |
The Prodigy Music For The Jilted Generation
Voodoo People, Poison and Speedway are amazing and forever classic but the rest is quite dated.
upsammy Germ in a Population of Buildings
Vitalic Ok Cowboy
3.0 good
Actress Splazsh
Quite inconsistent, some gems like Hubble, Always Human and Purrple Splazsh but also quite a few
disappointments. |
Airhead & James Blake Pembroke
Amnesia Scanner Tearless
Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works Volume II
Number 3, 7, 19 are great, but definitely my least listened to AFX album.
Deadmau5 For Lack of a Better Name
Yes, this album was important for developing my taste back in 2010 but as a whole its very underdeveloped, it
has very little actual material. |
Djrum Portrait with Firewood
Holly Herndon Platform
Iglooghost Neo Wax Bloom
So much going on and so dense that it basically becomes impossible for any song to stick to your memory, alot of white noise metaphorically speaking.
Kornel Kovacs Hotel Koko
Motor City Drum Ensemble Dj-Kicks
NOISIA Split The Atom
Skrillex Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites
In retrospect... I mean, it certainly has its stand out tunes, unfortunately the mixing and sound selection is quite
atrocious. It may have sounded like something new at the time but really he just took already existing ideas and sounds
from artists like Justice, Noisia, Deadmau5 and Rusko that sound way better than this. Not to mention that it spawned
the demonic child that is brostep. I cant give it an average because it definitely jumps out the speaker even though it
does so mostly in a kind of annoying fashion. |
Steve Aoki Wonderland
This album is hilariously bad, the only reason I dont rate it awful is because its also hilariously fun.
