The staying power of each of these songs, whether it be the brooding intro of Graves Of The Fathers, or the insanity that is the solo to Phobophile, or the power chords opening Orgiastic Disembowelment, or those pinched harmonics in Lichmistress, this record slaps.Death HumanLack Of Comprehension alone is worthy of a 5, but the fact is that this entire sub-30 minute record is a masterpiece. Every riff flows perfectly into the next riff, the drumming goes hard, and the bass is so well written. And the solos. Holy shit the solos slap.4.5 superbBlack Veil Brides We Stitch These WoundsThis will be a controversial score, for sure, but this record has such a place in my life, one that has been enduring ever since its release. It got me through some really rough times, and objectively the individual instruments are actually pretty sweet. The band are rather generic, and Andy's vocals are awful, but it brings the riffs, and the solos slap so hard. Death SymbolicFor the longest time, this was the hardest 5 for me ever and I wouldn't hear anyone say it wasn't the greatest album ever made. I was wrong, and this is a humble apology for that. It's a really great record, but unfortunately 1000 Eyes and Misanthrope let it down just a tiny bit, although still great tracks on their own. This album loses a .5 for that, but the rest of the songs are incredible.4.0 excellentDeath The Sound of PerseveranceDeath at their most progressive, this was where the band became a bit too drawn out and self-indulgent, although songs such as Spirit Crusher and Flesh and the Power It Holds still slap so hard. This gets the occasional spin, but really isn't any higher than a 4 for me these days.
