I was never a fan of Katy Perry, like anyone in the world has sung along with the radio a Roar or Firework in the traffic jam, but I always found her work disposable, I never stopped to listen to an entire album, all the material seemed like a collection of songs for play on the radio, but Smile is different.
Although she still bet on this "formula" pop, this album tells a story, listening to the sequence of the first 3 songs you already realize that she went through something traumatic and is trying to compose herself
Smile marks Katy Perry's journey to rediscover her smile, mixing elements of "old katy perry" with the best of current music, the album even manages to illuminate you in this very dark moment, wipe your tears and keep dancing.
Obviously it is not a perfect album, the song Smile is one of the worst songs I heard this year, but it makes up for the great video that seems made by pixar and my daughter keeps watching.
Best songs: "Resilient" aka Firework2.0 and "Teary Eyes"
Worst songs: "Smile" |
