Some of the riffs that should've been fun just fell flat due to their rather bland style of production. Breakdowns are pretty cookie-cutter, it feels like I've heard them all before.Bodysnatcher This Heavy VoidPredictable and uninspired. Great if you want an album that's just heavy, as that's the only thing kind of going for this album. If I Were You Radiant DarkThis is just a less impressive version of Invent Animate?a GreyviewNorthlane AlienWhile it may be a "fresh" sound for the band, this album lazily borrows from industrial and djent styles without adding anything unique to it. Alien ends up clumsily following in the footsteps of the wave of industrial and "nu" metalcore albums of recent. Somehow the synthesized sounds have a more memorable presence than the actual instruments they are playing. The Ghost Inside The Ghost InsideWage War Deadweight2.0 poorAsking Alexandria Like a House on FireAtena Drowning Regret & Lungs Filled with WaterA lazy combination of the latest trends in the scene - nu "metalcore" and djent riffs - leads to an album that isn't all that unique or interesting. The vocalist is clearly still learning how to properly scream, evidenced by how frequently he sounds like a pterodactyl, along with sounding almost bored when doing the weird spoken word/rapping. There are almost some cool atmospheric parts, but the mediocrity of everything else destroys any momentum that is generated. The Amity Affliction Everyone Loves You... Once You Leave ThemDerivative riffs, uninspired drumming, repetitive lyrics and themes, and an unwavering adherence to standard song structure lead to an album that is forgettable and easy to pass up on. There is still that weird, unnatural sound to Ahren's vocals in the choruses, though his singing is a bit more interesting in the verses. Joel really shines on the latter half of this album, but is dragged down by the apparent lack of talent of the rest of the band.Wage War Pressure
