These 80’s artifacts open things up with the title track which rages like a Thrash/Punk rant on HIMS for a few minutes before letting the gang vocals take center stage, sounding as dated as you’d expect. The chops are sharp and this thing peels paint musically, but the vocals are 3rd rate croakspeak likely trying to make sense of the lyric sheet as much as we are. It’s silly fun for the small amount of 54 year-olds who are looking forward to this recycled blitzkrieg. “Circular Firing Squad” has Gene Hoglan hitting things hard for probably the 40th year in a row, but it’s empty Thrash calories….fast, brutal, forgettable. Fast Food Thrash is still fun to a degree, and this doesn’t disappoint in that regard. The riffs on this thing are fairly dynamic and well executed, but very little of it will stick in your head past the initial table dive. Sadly, even when they hit some cool subversive HEAVY riffs, like in “Woke Up to Blood”, it’s just worth a thumbs up instead of a mosh pit. Don’t hate the Slayer, hate the lame! The album continues on with one bash fest after another not concerned with upping the genre beyond old rehashed dynamics that get lamer song after song.
