How does this have so few ratings? Very
underrated.

Edit: OK this just gets better and better with
further listens. It's so fucking catchy and fun
while not losing any complexity or uniqueness.
Failure Fantastic Planet
Glass Beach plastic death
Won't lie I am a bit high rn, but I think this is my album of the decade.

Edut: OK listened again completely sober. Definitely still a behemoth of an album full of
lush soundscapes and incredibly fun and engaging tracks all around. Absolutely a step up
from their last album. The only real negative is, as others have mentioned, its disjointed
nature. The most apt metaphor I can think of is, instead of building a tall skyscraper,
they decided to build 12 or 13 smaller, but architecturally similar buildings to hold the
same amount of, or perhaps even more, people. For me, an album being a fully spun web of
ultra connected songs is sort of the ultimate bonus, the thing that turns 4.5s into 5s.

Therefore, 9.49/10

Holy FUCK. How did I not listen to this Metric ralbum till now. It's far and away their best. rIt's all I could ever want from a Metric album. rEdit: Listening to music rn while rsimultaneously crying my eyes out about life. rCurrently relistening to this and something rjust clicked with my current emotional state. rGiving it a tentative 5.

The Receiving End of Sirens Between the Heart and the Synapse
A masterpiece by all definitions. Between the
Heart flows perfectly throughout, one song to
the next, from start to finish, while sounding
great at all times. And not only that, but
each song stands out and works individually,
with each giving a different message and
feeling while still working in conjunction
with the album's main idea and theme.

BTHATS shines in its lyrical work, being among
the best I have ever seen. I always appreciate
deep lyrics from an objective standpoint even
if I can't relate to them, but this album hits
differently. I relate to it on a fundamental
and personal level. The album also shines in
its harmonies. The three vocalists work so
well together that they sound like one
cohesive whole. The instrumentation and
production is also on point, with both
perfectly accentuating the themes of the songs
and albums.

10/10
Tides of Man Empire Theory
Honestly one of the best pieces of music I have ever experienced in my life. Every song is an incredible work of art with technical, emotional, and lyrical depth, while still managing to be catchy, melodic, and just generally satisfying. The album is a cohesive, consistent masterpiece start to finish with no notable weak points imo.

I very much dig the more subdued, melancholic
feel that is prevalent throughout this whole
album. It is/was very much a grower for me
though.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the album on my
first listen, there were no "standout" tracks
for me, which made it slightly difficult to
connect with the record as much as their
previous ones. However, upon further listens I
was able to connect with most of the tracklist
very well. Bad Translation, Long Division, and
Water With Hands are particular standouts for
me as of now.

Overall, I love the direction Failure has taken
with their sound and the vibe of this album.

The Dear Hunter The Color Spectrum
An ambitious effort that somehow manages to
greatly succeed in what it set out to
accomplish. Each EP deeply embodies the color
associated with it. Black is dark and gritty,
red is angry and grungy, orange is bluesy,
yellow is bright and poppy, green is down to
earth and folksy, blue is soft and mellow,
indigo is electronic (electricity), violet is
dramatic and orchestraic, and white is close to
standard Dear Hunter.
The thing I find most impressive though, is
that it still flows decently well as an LP. 36
songs from 9 different color EPs, and together
it genuinely sounds like the aural equivalent
of seeing a rainbow rather than feeling like a
music mish mosh mixtape. On top of that, a lot
of the songs actually stand out on their own,
which is already difficult to do with a normal
concept album, let alone in something as
restrictive as this.
My favorites are definitely the Black and
Violet EPs. Those EPs are close to 5/5 each.

Queens of the Stone Age Era Vulgaris
Era Vulgaris is rad asf and gets too much hate. Nuff said. While it may not be QOTSA's "best" outing, it is undeniably fun with a lot of experimentation. The grimy, industrial sound throughout adds a unique flavor to QOTSA's discography not found elsewhere in their catalog. Most of the tracks also hold their own individually with a nice mix of catchiness and eccentricity. Era Vulgaris is a twisted beauty deserving of far more love from QOTSA fans than it gets. r3.9/5

Pretty damn good so far. I always expect to be

pleasantly surprised that it wasn't the case
this time. This album appears to be right up my
alley. I look forward to finishing this 24

Edit: Definitely hear a lot of Deftones and
Thrice in this, as others have said. Which
honestly is a good thing, since Deftones and
Thrice both rule. It doesn't sound like a rip
off at all, moreso just heavily inspired.

Just from first listen, I can immediately say this could have been something really special. But something about the production appears to take away the "punch" this almost has on me. No lasting impact.

Nothing More The Stories We Tell Ourselves
The Stories We Tell Ourselves is kinda painful to listen to, personally. I say this as someone who absolutely loves their self-titled to pieces (with it being a 4.5-5 for me) and also loves The Few Not Fleeting (4-4.5). Stories isn't a "bad" album, but when I compare it to Nothing More's prior outings it falls flat on its face into a pit of spikes (exaggeration but). It has its moments, but, for the most part, it is lacking a lot of the the lyrical creativity, musical punch, and raw emotion of self-titled and Fleeting.
Nothing More Spirits
From the singles, I am cautiously optimistic r(I'll edit this when it fully releases). I rdidn't care for Stand in the Fire, but Tired of rWinning and Spirits were great. YDKWLM was also rdecently good. It also seems like it won't have rany filler (looking at you Stories), which is rnice. Definitely won't be a self titled or rFleeting, but it might just edge out Stories.rIt's finally out so gonna review it lol.rOk so I'm not done with my formal review yet, rbut I just gotta say something. Spirits is rdefinitely NOT better than Self-titled or rFleeting. It isn't even close. It barely rmanages to edge out Stories if I'm being rperfectly honest. I say this as a huge ass rNothing More fan. Some people here are rmassively overeating this. There are a ton of rannoying things. The effects are intrusive, the rlyrical work is probably the weakest on this, rJonny's vocals are drowned out sometimes, and rthe shouts of the song titles are annoying asf r(like "face it" and "call out the fake"). It ralso isn't the cohesive and fully realized reffort that Self-titled was. That said, the rspoken sections adopted from Stories is much rbetter used on here, and at the end of the day rit's still a Nothing More album. It still rsounds great, and their energy and heaviness rdefinitely hits a peak here sometimes. It is a rgreat album and has been growing nicely, but rffs let's be real.

Basically Stadium Arcadium Disc 3. Similar sound to that with not much innovation. Unlimited Love has some awesome songs like Aquatic Mouth Dance and The Heavy Wing, but it also has some major misses like Poster Child and Not the One (which were ironically both singles). About half the album consists of awesome songs, and the other half is either filler or duds. Although even the best songs on this album still don't come close to competing with the best songs off BTW and Californication. I'd say the current Sputnik average of 3.2 is pretty accurate.

10 Years was in my top bands before this
released. I wasn't really following new
releases back then, but in early 2021 I found
out this dropped. The saddest part is that I
was actually excited to give this a listen.
What can I say about it that hasn't already
been said. It's bland, souless, and has nothing
to offer. Even f@#$ing Feeding The Wolves had
at least 2 worthwhile songs on it. Suffice to
say, after this
travesty of an album, 10 Years is no longer in

I don't care what anyone says. This is just Chevelle except without anything that makes Chevelle awesome. No Pete so no unique, captivating vocals. No badass riffs. No cryptic, interesting lyrics. Just generic alt metal that rips off of what other bands did much better years prior while at the same time trying to act like more than that. Scratch that, cause this shit doesn't even sound good as bland background noise. Nothing worthwhile here and, frankly, below mediocre.

I just arbitrarily decided to write this up for this one. I remember my father playing Daughtry in the car, not allowing me to change it, with me helpless to do anything but sit back and writhe in pain.
