5.0 classic
Marilyn Manson Antichrist Superstar
Pink Floyd The Wall
Theatrical, well produced and era defining, the wall has stood the test of time for being relatable in many different ways and levels. The best forms of art are those that inspire us to interpret it through our own lens. Some might see this as a basic commentary on fascism and the war, others might see it as Lord Roger taking over and babbling about his life, but I think there is a lot more to it. We all have our own wall that we've built over the years to protect ourselves further after each painful interaction. Musically the wall is also one of the best concept albums out there, not only does it feel whole through the lyrics, the music and riffs make it feel like a single long song. The wall is a masterpiece, that part is undeniable, wether you appreciate it or not is a question of taste!

I Am Giant The Horrifying truth
Who knew Kiwis had solid rock bands?! I Am Giant'd debut album is filled with stadium rock anthems that stick in your head. The riffs are catchy, the hooks always present and choruses are huge. Overall the album is extremely well produced almost to a fault. rI discovered this band through their acoustic rendition of Let It Go and it's well worth the view. rWorthy tracks:r- And We'll Defyr- Nightvision
Marilyn Manson Mechanical Animals
Plini Handmade Cities
Syncatto Coloratura
Paco de Lucia meets Plini... This EP (or single) is much better produced than the previous installments of Syncatto and is highly encouraging. Syncatto has been delivering more and more intricate projects that not only sounds better but also offer more depth.rIn this case, we get a new take on prog-metal. Taking inspiration from Polyphia and Plini without trying too hard to be them and actually offering something different is music to my ears. Flamenco is a logical genre to experiment with and djentify. rWhile this is by no means the best prog-metal album out there, I do think it hints to a bright future for Syncatto and was a delight to jam to
The Dear Hunter Act IV: Rebirth in Reprise
Wax Tailor Tales of the Forgotten Melodies

3.5 great
Banks III
tight production and more depth are what makes this album stick out in Banks' discography. I'm a big fan of the GodLess and Gimme which both manage to shine by their execution rather than their originality both in themes and genres. I particularly like the use of the scotch snap (if you've never heard of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7cG9QIvIWo&ab_channel=AdamNeely) on Gimme which really flows.rOverall I think III shows a lot of maturity in its depth and tight production. It's well worth the listen and a great album. We know Banks has a ton of potential and she has confirmed it on this album. Unfortunately I don't feel like the hooks are memorable enough to make this a lasting track list or something you will revert back to automatically.
Sunsquabi Odyssey
Wax Tailor Hope & Sorrow
Not necessarily his best work but there is so much to dig into in this album. The tracks with Charlotte Savary are full of sweet melancholy (To Dry Up is on of my highlights of album), the hip-hop-influenced tracks bring contrast and more depth without being too generic.

3.0 good
Gramatik The Age of Reason
"Age of reason" carries its writing context heavily. As an album put together on the road, there is something to find for everyone. I find myself drawn back to the non-collab tracks here (with the groovy bangers: "Pardon my French", "Expect Us", "you don't understand") which feel a bit less formulaic and more coherent than the rest of the album.rThe production level while still high is not as good as I would have expected from Gramatik. The collabs are lacklusters in many cases. "Get a grip", "Obviously" could be a solid tracks but the absence of variation make me want to move on to the next after 2min. There is frequently a striking difference in the structure of the tracks with collaborators which is surprising as I expect Gramatik remained mainly in charge.rLong story short, "Age of reason" contains some tracks that can make it into a compilation and was probably a ton of fun live (context matters) but won't into posterity as a great album.
