5.0 classic
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti The Doldrums
Downright insane how great this is at some points, his best easily
At the Drive-In Relationship of Command
Possibly the greatest album ever made, it doesn't get better than this.
Big Blood Big Blood and The Bleedin' Hearts
Bjork Post
This has mostly been my favorite Bjork album. Its definitely her magnum opus album. Easily my favorite art pop album of all time. I love it
Boards of Canada Geogaddi
My all-time favorite electronic album. Ever since I first heard it, its always been in my collection. Genius and some really amazing dark shit.
Bob Dylan Highway 61 Revisited
Brand New The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me
Cannibal Ox The Cold Vein
Beats 10/10 Lyrics 10/10rOx Out the Cage is a very personal song
Charles Hamilton Well Isn't This Awkward
Simply an immaculate project, he has a lot of other good ones but this one stands out
CKY Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild
Another CKY album I've loved since I was really little. This one appeals to new listeners more than the previous 2.
DMX Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood
Sadly the last truly outstanding DMX album. Of course it's my favorite. Every track is produced by Swizz beats. Best rapper of all time
DMX It's Dark and Hell Is Hot
DMX isn't credited enough for his genius. Perfected the genre and will be always be the best
Elliott Smith Elliott Smith
Doesn't this just make you want to do heroin? He must have been doing something right
Goodie Mob Soul Food
Beats: 10/10 Lyrics: 10/10 this album has it all, check it out
HIM Razorblade Romance
So obviously the best in HIM's discography. The music is so good on my copy...
Insane Clown Posse The Amazing Jeckel Brothers
Of course this is The Insane Clown Posse magnum opus.
Joanna Newsom The Milk-Eyed Mender
Joanna Newsom Ys
Judee Sill Judee Sill
Judee Sill Heart Food
Underrated artist, a more energetic tracklist than her debut. The best song is "The Kiss" definitely a must-listen song
Kanye West My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Was surprised to see this on the /mu/-core chart because Kanye is a pop-superstar but right off the bat, the album's first 5 tracks are mind-blowing
Lauryn Hill The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
I see this CD everywhere. Its rare when I can say that about an album this good. It still Surprises me a little bit how popular it got. Seems seriously personal and makes her superior Unplugged album in 2002 seem like it doesn't exist.
Leonard Cohen Songs of Leonard Cohen
This album is one of the most evident in the proof that pop is sick and good.
Lift to Experience The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads
Limp Bizkit Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water
Definitely could have been worse. The state of LB at this time had a lot of tension and pressure to 1-up Significant Other. They had to return with a beast of an album. And Chocolate Starfish & the Hot Dog Flavored Water didn't 1-up Significant Other, but they definitely made a masterpiece. Every track is a banger. Listen to this.
Limp Bizkit Three Dollar Bill Y'all
Limp Bizkit's magnum opus. One of the best nu metal albums of all time, and groundbreaking for it's time.
Limp Bizkit Significant Other
01. Intro - PHAT ass beat. Very cool intro transitioning into 10/10r02. Just Like This - complete banger. Killer opening track that goes incredibly into The next track. 10/10r03. Nookie - Timeless classic. Everyone loved it. 10/10r04. Break Stuff- anger in music in its best state. 10/10r05. Re-Arranged - a pretty great song. Absolute great track with killer guitars etc. 10/10r06. I'm Broke - old school sounding bars, very nice structured track with an incredible dynamic among the band especially here. 10/10r07. Nobody Like You - yeah the Korn guy is here doing some cool shit. Stone temple pilots too. 10/10r08. Don't Go Off Wandering - amazing song. Its a shame Serj didnt end up on the record. 10/10r09. 9 Teen 90 Nine - complete banger with a KILLER outro 10/10r10. N 2 Gether Now - great beat from DJ Premier, the gang starr guy, and Method Man is great. Cool song 10/10r11. Trust? - pure genius in music. Proof nu metal is not bad. 10/10r12. No Sex - emotional and relatable track to a lot of people. Beautiful. 10/10r13. Show Me What You Got - one of the sickest songs on the album. A classic for 1999. 10/10r14. A Lesson Learned - cute little post-industrial trip hop track. 10/10rOverall a perfect nu metal/rapcore album. A lot more influences here, but i still like TDBY more.
Modest Mouse Good News for People Who Love Bad News
Never expected to like this one that much but once you get past the popular tracks Float On the World at Large, & ocean breathes salty, the rest are Modest Mouse's best writing
Nick Drake Five Leaves Left
Nick Drake Bryter Layter
Nick Drake Pink Moon
Raekwon Only Built 4 Cuban Linx...
Red House Painters Red House Painters II
May as well be a double album paired with "Rollercoaster", they're both incredibly similar. It's worth hearing after that.
Red House Painters Red House Painters
Start here to get into them. Never understood the appeal of this band besides Sun Kil Moon's "Admiral Fell Promises" showcasing incredible technical guitar ability but his lyrics' brutal honesty is perfected on Rollercoaster
Red House Painters Down Colorful Hill
Medicine Bottle is one of their best songs, but it's a mistake to start here to get into them. Go for this one's follow up record, Rollercoaster instead
Red House Painters Retrospective
Dont usually rate comps but when its a band this good you have no other choice. Either start here or Rollercoaster to see what the hubbub is about
Redman Dare Iz A Darkside
Silver Jews The Natural Bridge
Berman's magnum opus. Frontier Index, Dallas, Pet Politics, Pretty Eyes and How to Rent a Room are perfect and timeless songs.
Sun Kil Moon Admiral Fell Promises
On the surface all you get is standard bare acoustic music but the reason it's his best album is the inserted solos and brilliant lyrics
Sun Kil Moon Ghosts of the Great Highway
Not consistent by any means but enough classic songs to give it a 10. The last Red House Painters album if you ask me
Sun Kil Moon Benji
Another perfect record from Mark. Not sure how this one came to be, nothing warranted a major comeback besides his continued immense skill but Benji start to finish leaves you wanting more like it, and maybe Common as Light gets close to this style in certain aspects, but it's one of his many creative peaks.
Sunday Service Choir Jesus Is Born
The Cranberries Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?
Classy dream pop. The choices she makes with her vocals makes every song unique and go down and history as one of the best 90's bands
The Future Sound of London Dead Cities
People will not even bother with this one because of the cover, but give it a listen and you'll see how diverse and widely talented TFSOL is.
The Future Sound of London Lifeforms
The Microphones The Glow Pt. 2
Of all the /mu/ core records this and Spiderland have held up over all over the years but especially Glow pt 2 since you forget how creative it truly is if you don't have access to half-decent headphones or hi-fi speakers
The Notorious B.I.G. Ready to Die
My mom would call gangsta rap "Obnoxious n word music" so when I heard this I felt like a rebel, anyways it's a perfect album.
The Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
Theres plenty of great albums by this band but if this isn't at least in your top 5 you're stupid
Tom Waits Blue Valentine
His last album in this style which makes sense, once you perfect a sound why would you continue with it, seems pointless
Underworld Second Toughest in the Infants
Jam this in the car when you're picking up your kids at soccer practice, not some AC/DC shit what are you stupid?
Wu-Tang Clan Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Clever rhymes correctly using extreme imagery to their advantage bordering on Horrorcore with perfect beats start to finish

4.5 superb
Abandoned Pools Humanistic
Emo-Pop without the eyeliner or wrist slitting. Just great hooks and Trip Hop elements fused with dramatic alt rock also containing a few moments of heaviness
Alesana Try This With Your Eyes Closed
American Music Club The Restless Stranger
American Music Club California
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti House Arrest
This is transcending. My last soundoff about this was saying that I would only smoke weed listening to it, but after years of quitting, It's safe to say it is still a great album without being high
Autechre Amber
Autechre Incunabula
Autechre Tri Repetae
Autechre LP5
Bauhaus In the Flat Field
Albums like this make me wonder what the bias is toward debut albums. Coming straight out of the gate into the music industry doesn't mean you can't release something as legendary as In The Flat Field.
Big Lurch It's All Bad
Bjork Vulnicura
Bjork Vespertine
My stance on this album has changed through the years and right now i feel comfortable saying that every track is perfect.
Bjork Homogenic
Another perfect Bjork album. What can i say? Every track is gold, solid vocals, outstanding production and lyrics.
Blu and Exile Below the Heavens
Bob Dylan Blonde on Blonde

Chief Keef Back From The Dead

glad to see appreciation for Chief keef's genius on this website. This is one of my favorite trap albums.
Chino XL Here to Save You All
Choking Victim No Gods, No Managers
If you get it, you get it. Thats my view on the crack rock steady shit. I don't see how anyone can just take a glance at this NYC crust scene and just like it a little. This is fucking genius. Its barely even crust punk, in my opinion its pop punk. INCREDIBLE
christ. blue shift emissions.
Circa Survive Juturna
CKY Volume 1
This band helped me get into metal. Theyre sort of like pop rock to me, sort of because it has everything i personally like about rock music, and I've been listening to their first 4 albums since I was in elementary school. This album is the one that holds up over the others. Check this out, but there's low chance you'll like it as much as I do

Fugazi The Argument
Godflesh Streetcleaner
Godflesh rules. This is simply dark music for all the right reasons and rules all the time.
Gorillaz D-Sides
Gorillaz Gorillaz
Ive always really liked this album over their other albums. Plastic Beach has quite a few timeless classics, but this album is just entirely unforgettable. A select few singles on this just don't feel right anymore, but I can definitely appreciate them way more than the overrated shit on Demon Days. This album is the best

K-Rino Danger Zone
K-Rino K-Rino
Kanye West Late Registration
This will always objectively be the best Kanye West album. The beats are mixed perfectly, his flow works well with the samples he uses
Kanye West The College Dropout
Every track is a banger. Right out of the gate with his debut album he goes down in pop music history
Killah Priest Rocket to Nebula
Not a whole lot of 90s rappers coming back with an incredible album in the 2020s. Who else but Killah priest?
King Crimson In the Wake of Poseidon
King Crimson Larks' Tongues in Aspic
Korn Korn
One of the earliest examples of nu-metal. These guys got the popularity they deserved. Records like this come once in a lifetime. They followed it up with an even more god-tier sophomore LP, but this is an important masterpiece.

Mr. Bungle Disco Volante

Scott Walker Scott 4
Sex Pistols Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
Silkk the Shocker Charge It 2 Da Game
It may seem cheap to compare this to the current landscape of Rap, but compared to the monotone message of "White Devil is keeping us down" every rapper in the last 10 years has been pushing, the lyrics and even beats of No Limit Records have way more meaning and depth to them than the rotting corpse of rap today.
Silver Jews Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea
Silver Jews Tanglewood Numbers
Silver Jews Bright Flight

Drowning Pool Sinner
Alright everyone, here it is. My favorite Nu Metal album of all time. I guess this would be my #1 album of all time in that case since Nu Metal is my favorite genre. Drowning Pool are a fairly consistent metal band, and this debut really struck a cord in me at an early age. I can't relate or feel as much blood and passion with an album more than this. It's apart of me really. I'm scared to think where I'd be without Sinner. Every single track holds unique meaning to me in my life.

It isn't the most BADASS metal album ever made, but these guys have some serious attitude and emotion in the song-writing and performance. They aren't afraid to say anything on here, almost punk rock with their embracement of nu metal and bullshit post grunge to make a really hip hop fused garage metal album.

Jandek Ready for the House
You could say I don't get "it", but my recommendation to anyone who's like me and just hears a whole lot of empty nonsense, check out his album You Walk Alone. Thats some good shitrReally, if I were to review this album I would start with the guitar. From what I remember, the guitar on the tracklist is static and the single chord played don't change through the whole album. The way the chord is played is really the instrumentation, which doesn't pair well with his vocals in my opinion. Something about his vocals bother me. They're sparse, effortless, inconsistent and detached. Maybe i will get it someday.

Attack Attack! Someday Came Suddenly
Really liked this when I first heard it, but after a while it's cliches started to wear. Still better than their contemporaries like Enter Shakiri, Asking Alexandria, Fear and Loathing, Jamies, We came as romans, Drop Dead Gorgeous, the next AA records and the singers next band Of Mice and Men. It had to be said. Anyways, the synths are a nice touch and the clean vocalist/guitarist is the band's main focus. Almost any of these tracks without him on the mic are complete garbage (Kickin Wing, Catfish Soup) You immediately know what you're in for with a Crunkcore intro song, then a really catchy lead single. Then you get the best song of the album "Bro Ashleys Here" which continues the Autotune usage with high quality synths behind melodic to heavy drop d riffs with some pinch harmonics. This track stands out for basically having a Pop Punk chorus when the rest is pure Metalcore. The next track "Shred White & Blue" is about the USA, with some more great Autotuned vocals from the guitarist. Then "Party Foul" is just a fun song with a well written synth lead for the chorus. "What Happens if I Can't Check my Myspace" features a catchy lead riff from the very beginning. The People's Elbow is another fun party song with more amazing autotuned clean vocals. Then, "Kickin' Wing, Animal Doctor" tries going for the party metal sound without any memorable hooks or autotune and it's miserable, however the Spoken Word bridge isn't that bad. "Dr. Shavargo Pt. 3" is one of the best songs, amazing autotune once again but it's followed up by Catfish Soup, the worst track and a good decision to push it to the very end. It utilizes the exact same chord progression as most of the songs with an identical amount of reverb, the synth melodies are trying to be way more epic than they deserve to be leading to a boring instrumental piano outro track with zero payoff. Also for a second the piano is just bluntly ripping off some other pop song I don't know the name of.

Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains Love Songs For The Apocalypse
Quite possibly the most memorable folk punk albums. Pat's earliest project i think, and it certainly makes most punk music seem like bullshit. rSome people like Crass, they say The Sex Pistols didn't know what anarchy was.rBut they're not even, they're not even anarchy enough.rYeah, man, The Sex Pistols invented anarchy.rYeah, they're not anarchy enough to even knowrThat The Sex Pistols invented anarchy like that song,rAnarchy in the U.K.

Simple Plan Taking One for the Team
While still showing signs of gradual degradation of quality, this record still has a solid first half, a freaking K'naan feature and a very sweet ballad "Perfectly Perfect" which alone makes this worth owning
Simple Plan Get Your Heart On!
If you already like this band, best believe you should own this, but be warned it's way worse than their previous stuff and continues to show how little they care about making changes/improvements to their gimmick. Having said that, "Gone Too Soon" is easily the best ballad they've written, and even "Last One Standing" is a top 10 track for them.
