I'll be honest, going in, I didn't WANT to like this band. I'd equated them with some new wave of emo that high school girls just couldn't get enough of, and I wanted not a lot to do with that. rI was mistaken on Pinegrove. They are an amazing pop band with a level of talent that is unusual right now, in that the songs leave a lot of emotion and vulnerability out in the open and are still somehow perfectly self-assured and confident. I wouldn't call them an emo band or a country band...to me they are a pop band with indie production and a ridiculous, unrealistic southern drawl that is weirdly endearing.rMy favorite songs are : Paterson and Leo, Easy Enough3.0 goodEarl Sweatshirt Some Rap Songs2.5 averageJames Blake Assume Form1.5 very poorMae Multisensory Aesthetic Experience1.0 awfulGreta Van Fleet Anthem of the Peaceful Army
