| One of the best albums I've come across, surely in my top 5 all-time. Completely flawless in all aspects, it's a real treat from the beginning to the end. The first three songs and the closing one are certainly my favourite, but the whole thing is a true gem and I wouldn't remove one song from it. Also, many albums get referred to as "concept album" due to their supposed unity in terms of themes and whatnot, yet the whole thing often doesn't feel that coherent. Here you really have a proper concept album with a clear sense of unity from a lyrical and narrative standpoint with the progression of the story. But, to top it all, this unity is also reinforced musically since each song flows perfectly into the following one without any awkward pause or sense of discontinuity. Definitely an album to listen to in one sitting. |

| Even for a band like Moonsorrow who had already established their mastery with Verisakeet or Voimasta ja kunniasta, you can't deny that this album almost seemed like a hit-and-miss proposition. I mean, making a 2-song 1-hour-long album is obviously the kind of challenge that could easily make you look like a pretentious, over-the-top band (or a niche one at best), even for one that already proposed several 10/15+ minutes long songs. Yet, Moonsorrow did not miss, because this was not "pretentious", it was "ambitious" and they measured up. They proved they could deliver such a masterwork without falling into the traps of dullness and repetitiveness or, on the contrary, composing a chaotic mess that goes in all directions without actually getting somewhere. Here, both songs have their own unity with a clear feeling of inner cohesion in terms of atmosphere and composition thanks to the use of motifs for instance (which some obviously might find repetitive). I'm not saying everyone can enjoy this type of album but, for what it aims at doing and as a continuation of the band's musical journey and exploration of their own creative boundaries, it does it perfectly. |

The biggest surprise to me is that it never gets dull or repetitive as each song tells a very different story and creates its own atmosphere which makes it entertaining to listen to. |

| I don't like this band. Their music is unpleasant and/or boring and the singer can't even sing. And on this album, they turned these qualities up to the absolute maximum. Well done. For some albums, my 1/5 rating wasn't based only on the intrinsic musical dimension, but here it is. It's horrible and among the worst things I've ever listened to. |
