Paul Kelly Songs From The South - Volumes 1 & 2
Paul Kelly The A-Z Recordings
Paul Kelly's magnum opus. This set of recordings come from a series of concerts Paul Kelly did in the 2000s.
Over 4 nights he would perform 100 of his tracks, in alphabetical order. These are generally stripped back
versions that help to emphasise the stories in the lyrics. So many amazing songs. Some, like "How to Make
Gravy" and "Everything's Turning to White" make me tear up every time. Kelly actually gave many (all?) of these
away for free to his mailing list over a whole year in 2008, but it is great to see these packaged together properly
- along with "the longest cd liner notes ever", his memoir "How to Make Gravy", which is also awesome.

Barren Cross State of Control
Ben Folds Ben Folds Live
Adore this album. Captures the Ben Folds concert experience perfectly.
Beth Hart Live at Paradiso
Captures her rawness and energy perfectly. She has chilled out quite a bit since then.
Birds Of Tokyo Universes
Bon Jovi New Jersey
Boom Crash Opera These Here Are Crazy Times
Bride Silence is Madness
The pinnacle of "metal" Bride, before they went hard rock. The signs of their future direction were there in the blues numbers.
Gang of Youths The Positions
Gotye Like Drawing Blood
Iron Maiden Best of the Beast
Joss Stone The Soul Sessions
Loved this album from the moment I heard it. I "Fell in Love with a Girl". ? Still can't believe Joss didn't go on to become a global superstar.

Paul Kelly Live, May 1992
Paul Kelly, stripped back to bare bones and letting his awesome songs speak for themselves. Storytelling at its finest (and he can sing better than Dylan). ;)

Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine
Snow Patrol Eyes Open

Stryper To Hell With the Devil
The Angels Howling
While this album doesn't have any songs that appear on a best of, other than an Animals cover, this is still the Angels album I play most often. Fantastic.
The Butterfly Effect Imago
The Clouds Penny Century
My favourite Aussie band in the 90s (who have recently reformed and recorded new music). Fantastic, jangly pop, with sweet harmonies. Can rock out surprisingly hard live. Came achingly close to "making it".
The Cure Disintegration
The Cure Staring at the Sea
The New Pornographers Twin Cinema

Bon Jovi Crossroad
Bride Show No Mercy
As a teenager, this was my introduction to anything more metal than Stryper or AC/DC and this (especially Dale's vocals) were literally shocking to me. I shortly thereafter moved on to Maiden, Metallica and Vengeance, but for a while this was mind blowing.
Bride Live to Die
Bride Kinetic Faith
A softer, mellower sound for Bride, but very well done.
Bride Snakes in the Playground
Another excellent hard rock album, just a tick above kinetic faith

JJ Grey & Mofro Brighter Days
This was recommended to me by a friend and I am so happy she did! Soulful, rocky, gritty and a whole lot of fun. I've only had a quick listen to their studio albums, but the live setting is rawer, more fun and JJs voice sounds better with the extra grit.

AC/DC T.N.T.
AC/DC Highway To Hell
Aerosmith Honkin' on Bobo
Alkaline Trio Good Mourning

Barren Cross Rock for the King
Production is very raw, but the songs on this album are awesome. Barren Cross were one of the best Christian metal bands, and this was where it began.
Ben Folds Rockin' The Suburbs
Ben Folds Songs for Silverman
Ben Folds Five Ben Folds Five
Beth Hart Leave the Light on
Birds Of Tokyo Day One
Bloodgood Bloodgood
Uneven album, but half the songs (Black Snake, Accept the Lamb, Demon on the Run, Anguish and Pain, What's Following the Grave) are outstanding!
Bon Jovi Keep The Faith
Building 429 Listen to the Sound
My favourite album by this band. Extremely
catchy, enjoyable and uplifting. I love the
honesty of "war zone" and the message of
"Where I belong".
Coldplay X&Y
Coldplay Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends
Dead Letter Circus The Catalyst Fire
Hockey Dad Blend Inn
Iron Maiden Iron Maiden
James Bay Chaos And The Calm
Joss Stone Introducing Joss Stone
Joss Stone Mind, Body & Soul
Joss Stone The Soul Sessions Vol. 2
Some great tracks on here, although overall I didn't dig it as much as Soul Sessions I. These
songs are often too smooth - I love Joss when she gets grittier, like in "Power to the People".
Other stand out songs for me were "The Love We Had Stays On My Mind" and "The First Taste of
Hurt". Wasn't a fan of "Pillowtalk" & didn't feel anything was added to "Don't Wanna Be With
Nobody But You" that Wendy Matthews hadn't already done.
Karnivool Sound Awake
Karnivool Themata
Madness Madness - The Very Best Of
Great nostagic look back through their entire history. The classic hits are awesome (Our House, Baggy Trousers, House of Fun etc.), the early tracks get you moving (One Step Beyond, Night Boat to Cairo, The Prince etc), new songs like Death of a Rude Boy are suprisingly good and overall it is just fun!

Fantastic return to form for Stryper, after many years in the wilderness. The only Stryper album made after THWTD still on rotation for me.
The Angels Beyond Salvation
A bit of a comeback album for the Angels. Got a lot of airplay and produced a few lasting tracks.

Building 429 We Won't Be Shaken
A bit more inconsistent than their previous album, but some great moments.
Counting Crows Somewhere Under Wonderland
Was interested to see what the Crows have done since 1990. Album opener Palisades Park indicates listening to lots of Springsteen. A few good tracks, but didn't love the album as a whole.

Gang of Youths Let Me Be Clear

Guns N' Roses G N' R Lies
INXS Shabooh Shoobah
INXS X
Iron Maiden Killers
Iron Maiden Piece of Mind
Iron Maiden Dance of Death

Joss Stone Water for Your Soul
Still love this voice! This was much better than I expected - although some of the reggae seemed
forced. The disc is frontloaded - I didn't enjoy the last few songs as much.

"Impossible" is cheesy, but impossibly catchy,
but the rest of the album just blends

Only had one listen...but not much I liked here. Completely different to Chaos...

Half way through my first listen, I was wondering what the heck I was listening to. It jumped so wildly (and badly) from genre to genre. Of course, then I remembered the title... Having read the review above, obviously I wasn't the only one who thought the opening track was a Eurovision audition, or that the track with Chris Cornell was a highlight. 4-6 of these tracks are excellent, the rest is a mess.r

1.5 very poor
