Haven't listened to a full Korn album for ages. Busted it out the other night, was surprised I've only given it a 4 back when. It's hard to rate right, you think how can I give it above a 4 when comparing it to some classic metal releases, but at the end of the day it's the top album of the genre. None of the "new" nu metal touches this.

This really surprised me. I saw these guys when they toured Australia with Strung Out and they were decent then. This is no doubt their best effort yet. Short tracks, fast and energetic with an underlying hardcore vibe throughout. In props to them they are also touring Australia again in the next couple of months and charging $20 (about US$13) which will be the cheapest international band I've ever seen!

These guys have always had a really good sound. I feel like they've finally nailed it with this album. There's plenty of good skate punk coming out if you look around hard enough but certainly not in the vein of the late 90s. Frenzal has been holding up the top end of the Aussie scene for years so it's great to see bands like The Decline putting out such a strong release!

I think this is getting a bit of a rough wrap from some reviews. This is the band that put the The Unspoken King after some of the best death metal albums of all time, so this is pretty decent. Going the other way though, there is no planet where this should be only 0.1 rating below Whisper Supremacy, it's just not that good.

Not sure how I feel about this band being a fat wreck chords purist :o) It's pretty cool I guess, a fun listen! I recall listening to their back catalog, this is a lot cleaner and polished than the previous stuff which is really raw.

Fleshgod Apocalypse Opera
I?m a huge fleshgod apocalypse fan. IMO, Agony is the most under rated metal album of all time. This album is

unfortunately the bands weakest output. The opening classical singing track and closing piano track are for me the best

bits on the album. It?s not bad, the album is just missing the brutality and mesmerising melody that usually puts them at

the top of the tree of symphonic metal bands.

* After about 6 or 7 listens it’s definitely a grower. I think the opening metal track I can never die which hits after the

intro is what initially put me off the album. The vocals are almost a bit cheesy and have a kind of nu metal vibe but not in

a good way. I think this is clearly the least impressive song on the album. Now that I’ve had a few more listens it’s

actually a great album and grown on me a lot. I would still maintain it’s probably at the bottom of their discography but

this is a band with no mediocre albums.

Will have to have a few listens to rate this properly. I feel like this is them having their last crack at making it big. On first impressions I actually thought it sounds pretty good for what it is, which is a mash of the current most popular mainstream metalcore acts. Add the old school deathcore vocals from their earlier best albums and an absolute truck load of electronic elements bordering on being influenced by the prodigy, a catchy female led chorus and you have the whole album. There are some stand out tracks and some bang average tracks. rIf you are looking for something comparable to Neverbloom or Old Souls which imo are two of the best deathcore albums ever made, you will definitely be disappointed. If you have an open mind it's decent. Probably will settle on a 3-3.5.

I've listened to this a few times now. I've upped it to a 3.5. I think overall it's actually a pretty good album. I feel like they need to tone down the overproduced vocal. I know it's kind of their signature sound but that echo is just so far overdone it kills the record. I know it's an unrelated genre, but it reminds me of Cattle Decapitation's last one overdoing the cleans. Awesome in moderation but too much is overbearing.

This is surprisingly good. I honestly don't remember this band at all, figured it would be some bang average nu-metal. Definitely has a nostalgic feel with a fresh sound. To be fair I just listened to Wage War so this may sound better than it actually is.

This is fine. Good entry level heavier music for younger people just getting into metal. A bit too much produced clean vocals for my liking, RIP to the young gent who passed away.

Sorry to say, Ben Duerr has got too caught up in the Lorna Shore circus instead of focusing on the fact his band was far and away the best in deathcore of the last decade. This isn?t horrendous it?s just very average from a band that has previously been at the top of the genre. Music made for vocals, not vocals made for the music. This band has showed modest progression and change of sound in a good way on each successive album since their debut. This however just feels like an attempt at riding the out of place breakdowns and brutal vocals trend. The product is a monotonous deathcore album that lacks creativity and variety found on their previous releases.

What a strange album. I mean, there's a few catchy tracks but it's just so fucking weird. Potentially those who aren't familiar with Raised Fist's earlier catalogue may be able to access this a bit more. It sounds like they are putting on some good live shows, maybe this newer stuff translates better live.

The fact this is sitting on the same rating as Doja Cat speaks volumes. Haven?t heard the proper version yet as haven?t
spun the vinyl but unfortunately it?s downhill again. Was hoping they would mature a bit in this album but more of the
same generic core. They?ve moved from high on the tree of Aussie core bands to low hanging overripe fruit.

Culta of Luna was brilliant. Brutus also good. A couple of other ok tracks. Half of the tracks are in my opinion are well below par and a couple are borderline embarrassing.

NOFX A to H
When you've got over 500 tracks there's bound to be a few rough ones. NOFX doesn't have many bad songs imo, seems like most have found there way onto this record though. One of my favourite bands but this is an abomination of a record.
Ocean Alley Chiaroscuro
I gave this a listen. It sadly shows the poor state of Australian music culture outside of the punk/metal scene. Bland, mediocre and boring music seems to be the go to for those who don't know any better at the moment.
Paleface Swiss Cursed
One of the strangest bands I've heard recently. Beatdown hardcore which is highly influenced by
Korn and Jonathan Davis and also Mudvayne. Some of the vocals sound like Davis on 2xspeed.
There's nothing here worth coming back to, good entry level metal for teenagers.
Parkway Drive Reverence
Parkway Drive Darker Still
Sepultura Against

Slaughter To Prevail Kostolom
I think subjectively this is a really poor release. Besides the original single punisher, there aren?t many redeeming qualities here. Good on them for trying something different but unfortunately at this stage I feel like the vocalist would be better suited in another deathcore band. If you listen to say Shadow Of Intent or even Lorna Shore latest few releases you couldn?t realistically give this anymore than an average at best rating. Some of the cringeworthy vocal passages bring it down to poor level for me. Disappointed I preordered the vinyl for this as I?ll never listen to it.
Soulfly Chama
I?m going to have to have a few more listlens. Seems like a bit of a mess, no fast tracks, a touch of unnecessary clean guest vocals. A couple of decent heavy riffs here and there but overall seems like it would be their worst album to date.

I'm Aussie and have never heard this band. Just gave this a listen. We have an absolute tonne of great metal bands. This is not one of them. rThis is garbage. Do these guys think they are playing good music or are these songs written for them in some appeal to the mainstream? I just don't get it.
Parkway Drive Ire
Poppy I Disagree
Signs Of The Swarm To Rid Myself Of Truth
Slaughter To Prevail Grizzly
Sleep Token Even in Arcadia
Ten Foot Pole Escalating Quickly
This has to be one of the poorest attempts at an album from one of the bigger 90s punk bands I've
ever heard. The last track on the album which is acoustic is the best song by a mile and even it
is only average. The drums throughout sound horrendous. Overall, a really bad experimentation of
sounds on this album.
