5.0 classic
Boris Boris At Last -Feedbacker-
Boris Flood
Absolutely wonderful. Flood transcends its extremely simple components. This is a poignant, compelling masterwork of art far more than the sum of its parts. Works best when listened to in its entirety, with no pretenses. Profound.
Dead Kennedys Plastic Surgery Disasters
Dead Kennedys Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
Dystopia Human = Garbage
ISIS Oceanic
It's difficult to think of how songs or soundscapes could really be written much better than this, or how they managed to fill an entire album with them. So many wonderful moments, washing over wave after wave. Actually very straightfoward and methodically written once the content is understood, but the delicate execution and sheer depth remains just as poignant as the first listen.
ISIS Panopticon
I think this is somehow more consistent that 'Oceanic,' but also isn't quite as cathartic. A truly unparalleled ride nonetheless. 5/5.

4.5 superb
Amebix Arise!
Autopsy Severed Survival
Autopsy Mental Funeral
Incredibly thoughtful death/doom with perfect amounts of dynamics -- excellent crushing doom and disgusting, driving death metal that constantly augments and complements each other throughout the running time of this album. Every single song feels like a classic.
Black Sabbath Paranoid
Blood Incantation Starspawn
Convincing. Excellent songwriting, and mesmerizing that it was recorded as a near-flawless live performance. Great tempo changes, flow, and musicianship. Aesthetic is top notch. The production and mastering of this album is simply the best I have ever heard for any extreme metal release. The drum tone is irresistible.
Blood Incantation Hidden History of the Human Race
Boris Pink
"Just Abandoned Myself" is one of the finest songs all time and fuck you if you think otherwise.
Boris Amplifier Worship
Boris NO
Candlemass Epicus Doomicus Metallicus
Celtic Frost Emperor's Return
Corrupted Paso Inferior
Dead Kennedys Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death
Dead Kennedys In God We Trust, Inc.
Demilich Nespithe
One of the few tech death albums I can actually enjoy. This is how you do it... Way ahead of its time, and still unbelievable strange to this day.
Drudkh Forgotten Legends
The thick, analogy yet lo-fi atmosphere of the music immediately and strongly invokes the expected themes of this album, ensnaring the listener in the wonderful hypnotic riffs that drag on at length and to excellent effect. Minimalist in all the right ways and absolutely dripping with atmosphere.
Drudkh Autumn Aurora
Dystopia The Aftermath...
Dystopia Dystopia
Elder (USA-MA) Reflections of a Floating World
Wow, this slays. Excellent songwriting and gripping from start to finish. Lots of great dynamics, cool guitar licks, and a great overall tone. RECOMMENDED!
Emperor Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk
Iron Maiden Piece of Mind
Iron Maiden Powerslave
Krallice Dimensional Bleedthrough
Krallice Years Past Matter
An incredible and masterfully written album of crystalline, powerful dual-guitar soundscapes and indomitable musicianship which fills me with dread and ejects me into deep space. Also, the bass tooonnnnnneee.
Krallice Krallice
Lykathea Aflame Elvenefris
Bizarre and unique. Definitely not without its flaws, but overall impression is that it's a shining gem within the genre with several of its strengths outshining most contemporaries. Some really good riffs here, and amazing drumming. I honestly can see why some people think it's incredibly overrated, and why some people think it's one of the best DM releases of all time. For me, I really like this album.
Misfits Earth A.D./Wolf's Blood
Misfits Static Age
Moonsorrow Viides luku - Hävitetty
A contender for the best songwriting in all of heavy metal. Henri Sorvali outdoes himself on this album, painting a stunningly vivid picture that refuses to waver throughout this masterful auditory journey. Two 30 minute songs pass by as though they were five minutes. Not a single songwriting mistake or compromise to be found here, with excellent musicianship to boot. All that on top of Moonsorrow's absolutely amazing, authentic approach towards black metal with folk influences, and the unparalleled atmosphere they manifest with the instrumentation.
Moonsorrow Verisäkeet
Motorhead Ace of Spades
Pestilence Consuming Impulse
Primitive Man Scorn
I give this album a 4.5 even though on record it's probably a 4 or even a bit lower. The album does a great job at conveying P//M's sound, but where they really come into their element is the live experience. Having heard cuts of this album live, it is some of the most overwhelming, suffocating, and cathartic domination of doom imaginable. It's a shame that effect cannot be achieved through your car stereo system.
Reverend Bizarre In The Rectory Of The Bizarre Reverend
Reverend Bizarre II: Crush The Insects
Unique and crushing, but more importantly, absolutely stubborn and bullish in flaunting the drawn-out, repetitive extreme doom that Reverend Bizarre indulges in. Worth every second if you have the attention span required for it. An odd flavor of doom that keeps me coming back for more.
Reverend Bizarre III: So Long Suckers
Reverend Bizarre Harbinger of Metal
Rudimentary Peni Death Church
Slough Feg Traveller
Soft Kill Choke
Lush. Wish the vocals had more presence (not just in the mix, but in general)
Spectral Voice Eroded Corridors of Unbeing
Tanith In Another Time
Extremely solid effort, consistent from start to back. Excellent paring of vocal styles and authentic retro tone.
The Cure Wish
Ulver Nattens Madrigal
I'm pretty sure that this album is supposed to make fun of serious black metal, and that Garm and Co. think you're an idiot if you actually genuinely like this. But whatever. I know the raw production is actually fake as hell, and just a cascading parody on itself. But I still really really like this...
Ulver Bergtatt - Et eeventyr i 5 capitler
For an album with so many flaws, it gets the core element so undeniably right that it's really hard to not argue this is a timeless classic.
Un Sentiment
AOTY contender. Does everything right. Incredible amp tone, some REALLY REALLY excellent riffs, huge soundscapes, and great variation throughout the entire thing. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH.
Weakling Dead as Dreams
This is really really good stuff. Almost every single aspect is pulled off flawlessly - and with integrity. Incredibly enjoyable from start to finish.

4.0 excellent
40 Watt Sun Wider than the Sky
I thought this was a stronger and more consistent release than the debut, reflecting a better understanding of what they intend to do.
Adolescents Adolescents
Akercocke Words That Go Unspoken...
Really excellent music with stunning musicianship. Some awesome songs on here that go in really cool and interesting directions. A bit of the songwriting is flawed though and the production is a little too sterile.
Anthrax Among the Living
Anybody But The Cops The Shape Of Punk To-Go
Awesome, gripping burst of music-shaped energy. Mind-meltingly frenetic but definitely too short. They pull it off live too, which is nice.
Arkheron Thodol Thaw
Asunder A Clarion Call
Autopsy Tourniquets, Hacksaws and Graves
Autopsy gets it right, and it's fucking disgusting. Not even the greatest riffs ever, but played with the intensity of true veterans. They really know how to turn passages of powerchords into pus-dripping infected festering sores of deliciousness. Nice. Thanks Autopsy.
Bad Religion Suffer
Bad Religion No Control
Black Sabbath Vol. 4
Black Sabbath Master of Reality
Black Sabbath Heaven and Hell
Bolt Thrower War Master
Boris Noise
Boy Harsher Pain
Buzzov-en Welcome to Violence
Candlemass Nightfall
Celtic Frost Morbid Tales
Absolutely authentic with a very unique sound. The spirit of extreme metal through and through. Almost no flaws on this album, besides the fact that Tom G Warrior can get a little bit monotonous despite the amount of character he adds to the album. Love the guitar work.
Coffinworm IV.I.VIII
Cough Ritual Abuse
Consistent album with some excellent riffs and truly transcendental sections. Somewhat sterile at times though, and for some reason the production bothers me. The vocals are also a little weak but certainly contribute to their unique sound.
Cro-Mags The Age of Quarrel
D.R.I. Dealing with It!
D.R.I. Thrash Zone
Dakhma (USA) Suna Kulto
Daughters You Won't Get What You Want
Death Human
Descendents Milo Goes to College
Discharge Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing
Drab Majesty The Demonstration

Uniquely disturbing. Excellent vision and execution from these Englishmen.
Dreadnought A Wake In Sacred Waves
Elder (USA-MA) Lore
Electric Wizard Dopethrone
Eyehategod Take as Needed for Pain
Eyehategod Dopesick
Flower Travellin' Band Satori
Germs (GI)
Grave Into the Grave
Some of the hookiest, catchiest riffs in the genre, even if it doesn't offer much more than that.
Grief Come to Grief
Hammers Of Misfortune The August Engine
Hooded Menace Never Cross the Dead
Immolation Close to a World Below
Incantation Onward to Golgotha
Iron Maiden Iron Maiden
ISIS Celestial
A fun album with a decent amount of depth. Too much filler and an annoying production drag this down from being particularly awesome though. Some of the songwriting is disjointed too -- but the riffs never disappoint.
ISIS Wavering Radiant
Isis, for the most part, fixes the issues that plagued ITAOT. Some consistency issues still remain, with the band obviously struggling to find the desired balanced between post-rock stylings and the crunchier attack of yore. The album stays at a decent quality (with great bass work) until the last two songs when it transcends into classic, masterful material that lives up to Isis's reputation. This would be a 5.0 album if the rest of the material had the strength of the two closing songs.
Jucifer за волгой для нас земли нет
Heavy and in your fucking face. Great riffs, spirited performance, and enough depravity to make me want to sniff glue. One of my top pics for albums by two-piece sludge bands. There are some really cool, surprising moments on here that bump the rating up for me, and they avoid banal stoner riff sessions too.
Judas Priest Sad Wings of Destiny
Judas Priest Painkiller
Katatonia Brave Murder Day
Relentlessly depressing and uncompromising in that regard. A masterful use of minimalism even though that shouldn't have been applied as much to the production. Akerfeldt's vocals are OK but not stellar.
Keep of Kalessin Reclaim
Khemmis Absolution
Khemmis Hunted
Knower Life
Krallice Go Be Forgotten
This confuses and frightens me. It might be awesome once I figure out what the hell is going on here. Or maybe it's just a veneer.
Lightning Bolt Wonderful Rainbow
Lor In Forgotten Sleep
A hot mess packed with incredibly tasty morsels of music. Songwriting is interesting in that either gets unexpectedly aggressive or unexpectedly cheesy. Some sloppy compositions (and production issues) but songs like Eidolon are some of the best power metal tracks I've heard come out of the States lately.
Lord Mantis Death Mask
Yes! Nasty, insane, and terrifying at times. A fucked up journey to be sure. Lots of variety wrapped up in a great sounding package.
Mammoth Grinder Underworlds
Great mixture of death metal with crust stylings, plus a nod to the old school. The riffs. THE RIFFS!
Manilla Road Crystal Logic
Mayhem De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Melvins Bullhead
Mgla Exercises in Futility
Mgla With Hearts Toward None
Moonsorrow Kivenkantaja
Moonsorrow Voimasta ja kunniasta
Moonsorrow Jumalten aika
Moonsorrow Tulimyrsky
Napalm Death Harmony Corruption
Nekrofilth Devil's Breath
Nekrofilth Worm Ritual
Neurosis Through Silver in Blood
Noothgrush Erode the Person
A must-have for the genre. Finds a good middle boundary between the various extremes of late 90s sludge.
Perturbator The Uncanny Valley
Excellent soundscapes. Some of the compositions could use a little more attention
Perturbator I Am The Night
Portal ION
*horrific, agonizing descent into a terrifying lovecraftian universe intensifies*
Primitive Man Caustic
Rainbow Rising
Sigh Imaginary Sonicscape
If it weren't for the absurdly poor and annoying drumming, plus some weak vocals, this would be a near perfect album. Head-scratchingly weird but oozing with musical integrity, fascinating soundscapes, and a massive amount of variety. The guitar work is absolutely excellent and the atmosphere is unparalleled. With these factors alongside the fantastic keyboard work, it's easy to ignore any of the somewhat glaring other deficiencies in this album.
Slayer Hell Awaits
Slayer Show No Mercy
Sleep Sleep's Holy Mountain
Slough Feg Hardworlder
Slough Feg Ape Uprising
Slough Feg Down Among the Deadmen
Solitude Aeturnus Into the Depths of Sorrow
Subhumans From the Cradle to the Grave
Tank Filth Hounds of Hades
Tons of fun. Pure heavy metal done the right way.
The Body No One Deserves Happiness
An esoteric, adventurous romp featuring experimental fusions of a variety of genres on top of a fairly robust, sludgy skeleton. This album eschews visceral sadness, instead embracing something that is far, far removed from any planes of existence that could ever come near happiness. It is suffocating and can be difficult to listen to at times, but a rewarding experience nonetheless.
The Body Master, We Perish
I'd say this is one of The Body's most solid and consistent releases. Some sludge, some experimental stuff, with all the misanthropic self-loathing. This is a good place to start. If you don't like this, you're not going to like The Body.
The Body All The Waters Of The Earth Turn To...
The Body and Thou Released From Love
A really cool, heavy album that works quite well. A great listen, but I'm not sure if the bands went far enough in complementing or adding to each other's strengths. Seeing them perform this live was a treat though.
The Body and Thou You, Whom I Have Always Hated
The Cure Disintegration
Thou Peasant
Excellent instrumentation, ridiculously heavy, and unrelentingly dark. The vocals are the weak link here.
Thou Magus
Ulver Kveldssanger
Vacant Coffin Sewer Skullpture
A non-stop ride of awesome, pummeling riffs. These guys wear their influences on their sleeves
and it's a real treat. Hardly any weak moments or non-killer licks. FFO OSDM, proto-grind, etc.
Voivod The Wake
Voivod Angel Rat
Weaponizer Lawless Age
Wire Pink Flag
YOB Atma
YOB The Great Cessation
YOB Our Raw Heart

3.5 great
Abscess Urine Junkies
Suicide fuck, suicide fuck -- You took your life, who cares you fucking sucked!
Accept Breaker
SON OF A BITCH! YOU ASSHOLE! HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNnnnn
Autopsy Acts of the Unspeakable
Took awhile to grow on me. It's actually somewhat underrated -- but pretty dense. Certainly not as classic as the past albums, but I think it's a little unfair to compare it directly to them.
Autopsy Puncturing the Grotesque
Baroness Blue Record
Bell Witch Mirror Reaper
I like it, and there's some great moments in here. But ultimately, I feel the decision to make this one long song was a foolish one, and I say that as someone who generally enjoys really long songs.
Black Cobra Bestial
Blood Incantation Interdimensional Extinction
Boris Attention Please
Boris Akuma no Uta
Boris Absolutego
Burzum Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
Cairiss Fall
Candlemass From the 13th Sun
Carnivore Carnivore
Awesome album that is seriously held back by terrible mixing. Guitars are almost silent, overheads on the drums are non-existent, and Pete's voice is 5x louder than anything else.
Coffins Buried Death
Dan Terminus The Wrath of Code
Dream Evil The Book of Heavy Metal
So goddamn cheesy, I love it. Am I wannabe? Have I no dignity? ...ahem....METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! It gets old towards the end though.
Dungeon A Rise To Power
Fun and listenable, but not super original or compelling. A worthy listen, but nothing too special besides the excellent guitar and bass work.
Electric Wizard Come My Fanatics...
Electric Wizard Black Masses
Enslaved Eld
Fleshpress Rebuild / Crumble
Harhoog Three Trails in Crimson Across the Tigris Stars
Havok Burn
Havok Time Is Up
High on Fire Surrounded by Thieves
Iron Maiden A Matter of Life and Death
Iron Maiden The Number of the Beast
ISIS In the Absence of Truth
Isis stumbles after consistently improving their sound over the past three albums. They've gone a bit too far here and seem unable to properly frame their compositions on a larger scale. We still have the ambient build ups, heavy riffs, and ever-present wonderful instrumentation, but the compositions don't work as well or consistently as Panopticon and Oceanic. There's a ton of wasted potential here, and a lot of build ups that lead straight towards disappointment. The production is also a little too sterile. There are still some great songs and ambiance though -- Garden of Light is a classic.
ISIS The Red Sea
ISIS Mosquito Control
My favorite of the pre-Oceanic Isis releases. This is unrelenting, rather odd, and just fucking brutal.
ISIS Temporal
Worth it. The originals are good and the demos are neat. Interestingly, Isis plays so well that the demos just sound like slightly worse-recorded versions of the album versions. Nevertheless, you should pick this up if you're a big fan of their discography.
ITEM Sad Light
Somewhat inconsistent, but there are some great, slow-burners on here. The vocals can be a little annoying at times, but overall the aesthetic is solid.
King Woman Created in the Image of Suffering
Louis Cole Time
Make a Change...Kill Yourself IV
MDC Millions of Dead Cops
Michio Kurihara Sunset Notes
Minutemen Double Nickels on the Dime
Monolord Rust
The super crunchy tone (especially the bass) and some of the more interesting riffs are great. The vocals, not so much. The compositions are stuck firmly in the rut of middling stoner doom.
Moonsorrow Varjoina kuljemme kuolleiden maassa
Probably the only non flat-out amazing Moonsorrow album of the past decade. Some real bangers in here though.
Municipal Waste The Art of Partying
FFO pizza, moshing. Gets pretty old after awhile, but it's solid thrash.
Nails You Will Never Be One of Us
Violent and aggressive, but not particularly memorable. The production is annoying but there are some quality songs and riffs on here.
Noothgrush Noothgrush
Grimy and pretty unique, for fans of depressing edgy sludge/doom like Eyehategod. Production is
kind of crappy and some parts are amateurish but it really shines at times too.
Noothgrush Failing Early, Failing Often
Om Variations on a Theme
Panopticon The Scars of Man on the Once Nameless Wilderness
Pantheist O Solitude
Pentagram Pentagram
Primordial To the Nameless Dead
Reverend Bizarre Return to the Rectory
Riot Thundersteel
Sigh Hail Horror Hail
Skitsystem Stigmata
Hits hard -- frenetically aggressive and loud as fuck but can't really maintain that over the running length. Definitely some great cuts on this album though.
Sleep Volume One
Social Distortion Social Distortion
Sun Worship Elder Giants
The Body I Shall Die Here
The Cure Pornography
The Damned Machine Gun Etiquette
The Gault Even as All Before Us
Why is this so highly rated? The atmosphere is great, to be sure, but the songwriting is incredibly aimless at times. Recommended, but not a masterpiece.
Thou Inconsolable
Voices Frightened
Some great songs on this one -- there are some misses, but when they nail the goth rock / metal crossover it sounds excellent.
Voivod The Outer Limits
Voivod Phobos
Walknut Graveforests and Their Shadows
Weaponizer Weapönizer
Good look at Weaponizer's classic sound. The production is not great -- fairly flat and dull -- but at least clear. Some catchy songs on here and some fairly unmemorable ones too.
Weedeater God Luck and Good Speed
Weedeater ...And Justice For Y'all

3.0 good
40 Watt Sun The Inside Room
This is distorted alternative rock, definitely not doom metal. "Restless" is a great song but the album slowly gets worse and more insipid in my opinion -- especially the last song which I have never enjoyed. I find this album to be clearly inferior to the sophomore album.

It's a great listen though if you want to be suffocated almost to the point of dizziness by agony. It's a terrible listen if you want riffs and aren't very sad though.
Abscess Seminal Vampires and Maggot Men
A fun and filthy romp, mostly mediocre but with a lot of attitude. Great drumming, and riffs that range from 'meh' to 'decent.' Vocal leads are shared: Chris Reifert's are about as amazing and maniacal as you may expect, but with even more personality owing to the punk styling of Abscess. Everyone else's vocal leads can't even compare -- Danny's being decent, and Eric's being annoying and fairly weak. Some super catchy songs lay in wait in between a bunch of filler. ONE TWO FUCK YOU WORM STY, INFEC FEC FEC TION FECTION FECTCHA FENCTHNNNAAGGHN
Accept Metal Heart
Akercocke Renaissance in Extremis
Overhyped. Love the drum tone and there are some really great songs on here. But there's also terrible clean vocals and some pretty lame songs too. My real question is: how many of the people who have rated this album so highly are revisiting these days?
Axegrinder Rise Of The Serpent Men
Some really great songs on the front half, but quickly devolves into a fairly boring and generic mess after that. The production is terrible on the first half too, with what sounds like improperly-triggered kick drums.
Bloodiest Bloodiest
Boris 1985
Boris Dear
It's good, but not particularly memorable, nor particularly compelling. Some very heavy stuff as well as some good experimental stuff, but overall a lot of the same old Boris heavy Orange sound with soaring cleans and fun drumming. Feels like a lot of B-sides off their better albums, but done with some of their best musicianship and production.
Burzum Aske
Burzum Det Som Engang Var
Celtic Frost Monotheist
Circle Jerks Group Sex
Cough Still They Pray
Better production that Cough's previous effort, but I think falls a little short in a lot of ways. The vocals are better, but this increased confidence has led to less processing and effects on the vox which make their still obvious deficiencies readily audible. Despite an awesome tone and great riffs, Cough completely eschews the mind-melting sections of the previous album, instead opting for a more mediocre and predictable heavy stoner doom approach.
Doom VS Dead Words Speak
Doomed (USA-CA) Doomed to Death and Damned In Hell
A fun romp. FFO hearing metal veterans getting drunk and playing simple riffs with poor production and a lot of energy.
KILL ME OR I'LL KILL MYSELF
Dream Evil Dragon Slayer
Dream Evil United
Graves at Sea The Curse That Is
Havok Unnatural Selection
Husker Du Everything Falls Apart
Husker Du Zen Arcade
In the Company of Serpents Ain-Soph Aur
The western aesthetic is pretty cool and refreshing, and ITCOS is definitely at their most mature.
Really though, the band gains nothing by being a two piece. Even with great mixing and
instrumentation, there's a ton of empty sonic space. The clean vocals are not very good either.
Too much filler, only about 20 minutes of sludge on here.
Indian The Unquiet Sky
Krallice Prelapsarian
Lunar Shadow Wish to Leave
Great sound ruined by amateurish, distracting vocals
Mavradoxa / Deafest Mavradoxa / Deafest Split
A worthy split to check out for fans of atmospheric/nature black metal, but both bands fail to truly harness their talents and potential on this one. Tip of the hat goes to Deafest.
Opeth Morningrise
Opeth My Arms, Your Hearse
Opeth Deliverance
Slayer Reign in Blood
Extremely overrated. A couple of good songs though. The rest is a forgettable mess.
Veldes The Bitterness Prophecy
A middling but competent atmospheric black metal album -- lots of decent stuff, but too much
mediocrity for its own good. Over-hyped. Every song is literally twice as long as it needs to
be, to the point of almost being humorous.
Voices From The Human Forest Create A Fugue Of Imaginary
Windhand Windhand
Worm Ouroboros What Graceless Dawn

2.5 average
Electric Wizard Wizard Bloody Wizard
It's like Black Sabbath, except with none of the talent or spirit. Boring as fuck, uninspired, and bland. Topped off with some truly god awful, annoying vocals by Jus Oborn. Electric Wizard is dead and its time to stop giving them a pass just because they released Dopethrone/Fanatics. I like bands experimenting and I LIKE 70s homage bands. The Wizard just does a shit job of capturing the essence of old school heavy rock.

EDIT: Stoned as fuck and this still sucks.
Epidemic (Metal) Exit Paradise
Middling death metal chock full of repetitious C- and sometimes B- stock riffs that most good
death metal bands wouldn't even use for transitions. Musicianship is mediocre, and vocals are
pretty crappy. Seriously though, the riffs? I can't think of a way to make them more derivative
or uninspired.
Indian Slights & Abuse
Sludge/doom without good riffs? Not an ideal combination. The mix is weird, the songwriting is directionless, and the entire amalgamation of unnecessarily busy drumming with questionable guitar passages is annoying and doesn't work nearly as well as they try to make it appear on this album. The entire thing is forgettable.
John Cage 4'33''
2.5 as a benchmark. For albums rated less than a 2.5, I'd rather listen to silence, for albums better than a 2.5, I'd rather listen to them than silence.
Krallice Wolf
Shining (SWE) V - Halmstad
Decent to mediocre instrumentation and riffs, topped with annoying and juvenile vocals. After the novelty wears off it's hard to ignore just how lame Kvarforth's antics are.
Sigh Graveward
Whhhhheeeeeeee infernal carnival music! Too much of a novelty to take seriously.
Watain The Wild Hunt
This is just a goddamn black metal version of mallcore. Coming to a Hot Topic near you! Many of
the black metal songs are decent, but the notorious ballads are banal as fuck and fall flat. And
this is coming from somebody who likes that level of cheese.

2.0 poor
!T.O.O.H.! Democratic Solution
Hahaha, what the hell is going on here? It's actually kind of cool, but so ridiculous I would never be able to listen to this with other people in the room without deep belly laughs.
Jucifer District of Dystopia
What are these, scratch tracks? Not really worth listening to.
Necrophagist Epitaph
Offensively annoying guitar work that belongs in a guitar clinic. Good luck finding an actual song or sick riff anywhere, especially wrapped up in this heaviness-free plasticity. I know it's not supposed to be rock and roll, but what the hell is the point of metal if it gets watered down to its purely technical components? I guess timbre isn't a thing to these guys.
Pain of Salvation Scarsick
Putting the PAIN in "pain of salvation." Please just let me die.

1.5 very poor
Annihilator Metal
Burzum Daudi Baldrs
Just because it was released by Varg doesn't mean you should subjugate yourself to listening to MIDI music that would only be mildly acceptable as BGM for an old school RPG.
Celtic Frost Cold Lake
Undeniably bad, but definitely quite hilarious. Tom is so far up his ass on this one that it's not even insulting, just bewildering.
Morbid Angel Illud Divinum Insanus
Joke album that isn't funny because it's much too lengthy and simply too painful to listen to. Oh god, make it stop.
Sadus Out for Blood
YIKES. Comedic mallcore toughguy bullshit. Kill it with fire! Awful songs like 'Smackdown'
destroy any goodwill created by mediocre thrash riffs found elsewhere on this album. DiGiorgio is
a shining star though.
Six Feet Under Nightmares of the Decomposed
Wintersun Time I
Fuck this shit. I hate everything about this. I don't even care if the instrumentals are good because this a plague to the sensibilities.

1.0 awful
Celtic Frost Prototype
Holy fuck this is one of the worst, most misguided pieces of absolutely abhorrent music ever created.
Six Feet Under Graveyard Classics IV: The Number Of The Priest
:-(
Tank Sturmpanzer (Algy Ward's Tank)
Terrible stuff here. What is Algy doing? Good luck listening to more than a few more minutes of
this. Not even salvageable by a few "so bad it's funny" moments.
