I typed out a massive piece and then it got deleted in the account creation process so here's a short little review instead: This album is one of the best albums I've ever listened to and probably the most underrated. It fuses Nu metal and death/metalcore perfectly. The instrumentals are incredible with some of the nastiest patterns ever conceived. Unlike a lot of vocalists in the same genre, the vocalist here does not have that whiny undertone to his voice and although the album is about depression, the lyrics aren't whiny or cringy either. While many bands have covered the topic before, few have done so in an such an intelligent manner. The album does more than just talk about it, it tells a story from the perspective of someone suffering from it. Each song goes through a day in the life of this suicidal individual who plans to end it all at the end of the week/album. This is a must listen for fans of the genre unless you're someone who can't get past the two songs on this album that aren't metal. I thought they fit perfectly but that's just my opinion.Don Broco TechnologyIf this thing is the future of rock then that's a future I want to be in. There are so many excellent and hard hitting arena rock riffs on this thing it amazes me. The dynamics are also outstanding. One minute they are doing those riffs, the next a groovy focused bassline, the next acoustic strumming, the next a keyboard synth, and suddenly there are even brass instruments singing above it all. I could say much more but seriously just listen to it already.Famous Last Words Council Of The DeadSylar To Whom It May Concern4.5 superbSylar Help!4.0 excellentDon Broco PrioritiesSkip the Foreplay NightlifeI feel like people that hate this don't know how to have fun. It's far from generic like other reviews have said. The guitar and drums punch you in the face and there are some crazy patterns hidden beneath the catchy synths. They also don't stray away from guitar solos like so many other bands in heavy music do. What really sets this album over the top is the absurd storytelling. For example DTK talks about some girl going around giving everyone HIV because she wants everyone to die and Hawaiian Killer talks about a failed date rapist that decides to break into the club and force everyone to dance at gunpoint. What's holding me back from giving it a 5 are the few unnecessary songs near the end including the Champagne Showers cover and the poor vocal mix that makes it hard to hear the absurd lyrics.Sylar SeasonsSimilarly to Help!, Sylar's last full length and fan favorite, Seasons really didn't hit me on the first listen... but all it took was one more. This really is their most "mature" release. Many of these songs are rock radio friendly unlike with previous releases. Even so, it doesn't feel like they've totally abandoned their roots like other bands in the genre have which is a massive achievement on it's own.3.0 goodDon Broco Automatic2.5 averageDarke Complex Point OblivionUnlike many on here who dislike this album because of the occasional rapping on it, I dislike it because of how generic it is compared to their debut album. If this came out in the OG days of Nu metal it would have been a classic though.
