Really a grower. Got it only after 4 or 5 listens. Singles were really catchy and groovy so after hearing other stuff on the album I felt disappointed at first. Still, you always can sense potential for growth in a record, and it was clearly the case so I kept listening. And oh boy! I was rewarded for my patience.
Props to a band for having a balls to release such inaccessible, dark and brutal record in the times when they are in need of a catchy breakthrough album with all the buzz they are getting on latest tours.
P.S.: production is top-notch. I'm tired of overcompressed hyperloud sonic sausages with triggered robotic drums that modern metal productions tend to deliver. |

| Interesting and inspired take on Stoner Rock from Moscow that had a lot of potential despite some clunkiness in guitar playing (guitarist drastically improved over next couple of years), somewhat amateurish vocals (at that time, vocalist also improved greatly), sometimes lacking arrangements and overall lack of experience as a unit. Bassist is very good though and ironically he's the one that held the band back wanting it to be just a relaxing side project. A pity that Moscow lifestyles and Russian mentality as a whole hold back some really noticeable talents. Because the band really wanted to do something special and to break through but Moscow's a dead scene - you can't get anywhere by just playing there once a month. And that's true for every genre. |
