Godsmack Godsmack
Fucking killer album. Don't care what others think, this album fucking destroys everything in its path. Great grooves, great choruses, awesome vocals. Get it now.
Godsmack When Legends Rise
The haters continue to truck along. Hilarious. Guys, this album is honestly their best one yet. Tight musicianship, ripping choruses, everything you want out of Godsmack is here, only intensified. 'Eye of The Storm' is their most epic'ist song here. Pick this bad boy up, you won't be let down.

Overall it's pretty good. The guitar solos are absolutely wicked, masterful, catchy and
tasteful, but practically every track here could have been trimmed down 2-3 minutes, some
even longer. These guys love love love long songs, but there is no point in stretching
them out like a rubber band if you're going to play them twice...which is literally what
they do.

There is no "progression" here, just normal death metal tracks looped. 'Unleashed Hell'
is the only song where this doesn't seem to occur, even though it is nonetheless
repetitive. Don't get me wrong, it's unbelievably brutal and these guys know how to rage
for sure, but damn, death metal albums should never be an hour long.

Absolutely stunning album. Don't let the horrible album cover fool you - this is fist-pumping, accessible neo-prog without all of that flash. Great choruses, great songwriting, great everything really.
Arena The Visitor
Wow wow wow! Another stellar neo-prog release. Highly recommend this one, it's just pure magic. And strangely, the album cover is actually quite decent.

I'm personally not the biggest trance fiend and have never cared for electronic music much in general, but this album is too bright and beautiful to be ignored. Very earthly and rich arrangements accompanied with gorgeous female vocals and large replay value. It's my go-to for when I'm not in the mood for foul death metal.

This is quite frankly one of the most brutal, disturbing, and terrifying metal records I own - granted, I don't listen to much death metal, but I chiefly love this album in particular because it is so evil and twisted. The best part about this beast is that the music is properly technical and it doesn't just endlessly spew out wank and nonsense like a lot of "technical death metal" bands tend to do. Oddly, there is something so emotionally destructive about this album that I can't quite put a finger on - just listen to 'Father You're Not a Father' or the bridge to 'Lost Passion' to find out more.

Extremely catchy and immediately likable hard rock/AOR with sprinkles of traditional

melodic rock with "pretty" and lame synthesizers and keyboards, so highly recommended.

Oxbow The Narcotic Story
Favorite Oxbow record for sure, incredible material here. This is stripped-down to the bone, raw, and ruthless - certainly not for the faint of heart, but then again most noise rock isn't. In the past, their music has been borderline quirky in some areas, but with this album, everything is serious....very serious. That should come as no surprise though from the album title. I'd wager to say that 'She's A Find' is one of the most gut-wrenching, songs ever composed. The middle break with the delicate piano and subtle guitar strings encapsulates a great deal of emotion and heartbreak, which is somewhat surprising coming from just listening to their 'King of the Jews' record.

Holy mother...this album is one dirty motherfucker. Now that I finally "get" at what they're trying to convey, I love this band. If you're looking for another Cannibal Corpse rundown, then look elsewhere - this album is challenging, bleak, and pretty damn weird for death metal. It's hardly straightforward at times and flows at a very lopsided and disjointed pace. Regardless, it's still an amazing record and I still think that 'Suspended into Tribulation' (especially the ridiculous outro) is one of the greatest death metal songs the band had ever recorded.

Very original and powerful, especially for an overly saturated genre such as this one. Many copycats with no real creativity or charm. This album on the other hand is able to stand on its own - pounding, chugging riffs in the same vein as Meshuggah, cold synthesizers, powerful clean vocals, and more. Excellent record overall, it's one of the best this genre has to offer.

Two steps away from a classic for me. This album is surprisingly emotional, deep, and deeply atmospheric for a musician who has released some of the most psychotic, outrageous breakcore music in the past. Surprisingly, it meshes well.....too well, so much that I would argue that some of his best material in all of his discography is located on this album. This is not to say he throws in the towel altogether with his trademark breakcore, 'Integraation' and parts of 'My Crutch' contain those frantic beats, but as a whole, he shifts almost entirely away from chaos and focuses his attention on classical music. Makes for a very powerful journey overall.

So I actually enjoyed this...I know their lyrics are beyond atrocious and ridiculous, but
looking past that this is a pretty crushing album. Very much in the same field as

I realize that this band is a "love them or hate them" type of band, but I certainly do not hate this record. Out of Killing Joke's earlier discography, I'd consider this their weakest link - average, dissonant and noisy post-punk songs without any real distinction. The production simply does not sound good to me throughout most of it, however there are a few tunes, particularly 'The Hum' and 'Chop Chop' that save this album from it being a disaster, along with a few other moments every now and then.

This album is one weird bastard, very unsettling, dissonant, and strange. Vocals are
shouted, yelled, hollered without any coherence really - basically incomprehensible.
Pretty good record overall, but not one of my favorites. Side 2 is better than Side 1
though - 'Woe' is probably the best track on this entire album.

Laughably straightforward and simple, but nonetheless still kickass. It's pretty basic death metal without any real technicality or mind bending guitar solos. Drums sound a bit sterile on this record though, but regardless it's fun every now and then

Yeah, we get it - the album sucks. It's certainly not sophisticated and is rather childish and clearly dead set on teen angst, but it's undeniably angry - granted, angry in the most immature ways possible, but I still enjoy listening to it from to time. It's pummeling and pretty damn aggressive, the only real downside revolves around the lyrical department, which is quite frankly atrocious and kind of ridiculous considering these guys were all around 30 at the time. Also, like others have mentioned, the two (or three?) guitarists (I'm sure) are capable of displaying more profound riffs and ideas, but instead resort to playing mostly repetitive, chugging guitar riffs. Overall, the album is pretty decent, certainly not for someone with a more evolved music taste, however.

Running Wild Pile of Skulls
Compared to the glorious epic masterpiece "Death Or Glory", this album is honestly nothing groundbreaking. I felt "Blazon Stone" was quite better than this overall. 'Roaring Thunder' is shockingly boring and stagnant, however there are some undeniably infectious tunes here, namely 'Pile of Skulls' and 'Sinister Eyes.' 'Treasure Island' is absolutely the best song, possibly in all of RW's discography. Again, it's textbook Running Wild (just nowhere near as impressive as their previous outings), and it nonetheless delivers.

Well, it is clear that Barnes's voice is shot, and it shows, but to be quite honest this is a surprisingly decent album from SFU. Much better than some of their earlier releases, and way better than their recent albums, but still repetitive and incredibly predictable, low quality death metal regardless.

The only reason I'm giving this a 3 is because they were the first to spawn the sound that "would be" black metal. apart from that, the musicianship is quite dull and the production is extremely muffled and flat.

Yeah this sucks, but is it really that surprising? This band has never taken music seriously, and this album is essentially the icing on the cake. At least Hooray for Boobies was honestly pretty creative, albeit at times musically stale. This record is just balls, first off there are only 11 tracks, and a good handful of them are totally worthless skits. 'FUCK', 'Im the Least You Could Do' and 'No Hard Feelings' are the only good tracks on this record that save it from being a total abomination, the rest is ass.

Yeah, there is certainly better death metal out there, and the way I see it, there is no point in listening to this band unless it is their first album, or Maximum Violence (which is at least decent). Do not recommend, it's the same shit - mid tempo songs with one or two basic riffs overlapping.
