Style is all over the place, which perhaps makes it the most interesting listen since The World is a Thorn. The lyrics here are stronger than the previous couple of releases, presenting themselves in a more nuanced and poetic manner that harkens back to their best and earliest works. Unfortunately, the vocal performance from Mr. Clark leaves a lot to be desired here--and the loud and highly filtered production does little to help. In general, the album suffers from a general stiffness and lack of passion which diminishes the impact of the album's highlights. Not their greatest effort, but if they continue to stretch and challenge their formula as they did here, we could be in for an excellent follow up effort.
