so typical of sputnik to see a metalcore album FINALLY getting praise and its users immediately retaliate with their ?ACKTUALLY? ass reviews/soundoffs. this music is damn good, metalcore may be stale as a genre in general but this aint one of THOSE albums, stop acting like it is one. albums like this are rare. edit: yeah this is for sure a 5, upping the score

Far and above anything on Self Inflicted in every way imaginable, that's not exactly a hard feat

as far as mindless deathcore goes it's pretty great, easily one of their best records
Crown the Empire Sudden Sky
I actually really enjoy this, it?s far too short (especially considering how long the lead up to this release has been), but I think this is miles better than Retrograde. A few tracks fail to entice me (particularly the title track), but this thing is full of so many great, infectious choruses that I absolutely adore.

It's too short, making some songs feel like they end way too early, and sometimes the vocals feel a little overproduced, but as a whole the album is great. Great instrumental work and while Adam Warren's vocal style remains primarily the same, he's still a fantastic vocalist.

Starset Divisions
SycAmour Substance Abuse
TesseracT Polaris

The production on REAL. was the my hugest negative for that record, and while this record isn't perfect, holy hell it's so much more punchy. The breakdown in Trapped is absolutely huge.
Thy Art Is Murder The Adversary
Tonight Alive The Other Side
Varials Pain Again
Volumes Coming Clean
A step up from Different Animals in the songwriting department for sure, Myke Terry is far better utilized as well. However, the production confusingly feels a bit squashed compared to previous releases, which doesn't make too much sense because of Diego's production chops. Either way though, aside from a pretty unnecessarily long interlude track, every other track on here is super solid.
We Came As Romans Cold Like War
slept on this release last year since I hadn't listened to the band actively in years, but after hearing about kyle i checked it out and it's surprisingly strongrrest in peace kyle

Hands Like Houses -Anon.
First single was good, second wasn't at all. Cautiously optimistic yet kinda hesitant about this one.

EDIT: this is not a truly bad album by any means, but it lives up to its name. It has no true identity
or consistency, rather relying on a sequence of varyingly successful sounds that play more like a
mixtape or a showreel than a coherent album.

Decent songwriting and nice vocal performances, but god I've never been able to stand the production on this record. Everything sounds so flat.
Volumes Different Animals
A really great album with some fantastic lyrical content and songwriting, only moderately sullied by one fairly uninteresting and uninspired song (obviously Left For Dead.) I don't hate the song, but it should've ended with Pullin' Shades, that song is such a fantastic closer.rOverall though, production, performances, writing, flow and diversity of sound are all fantastic here. Perhaps I'm biased since these guys have been my favourite band for a long while now, but I think this is a great addition to their already impressive (if short) discography.

Of Mice and Men Cold World
Of Mice and Men Defy
So far this sounds like a genuinely less interesting version of Nickelback's last effort. Boring production, weak tones, samey vocals, an awful cover of Pink Floyd's 'Money,' generally just a poor effort to hold on when they should probably let go. Hardly even a husk of what they used to be, not looking forward to this.
Parkway Drive Ire
Rings of Saturn Gidim
RoS riddim record confirmed
Sleeping With Sirens Madness
Suicide Silence Suicide Silence
The Amity Affliction Let the Ocean Take Me
The Amity Affliction Misery
Way better than their last 2 records in a lot of ways, but still falls flat on its face in a lot of others. Since I'm not really a fan of this band I don't really have the wisdom to say whether Amity fans will love or hate the change in sound, but this is a huge step in the right direction for the band (the right direction being not making the same album but progressively worse 4 times in a row). It's a different, better sound for the band, but it's still not quite there yet. Maybe their next album will be great.
The Word Alive MONOMANIA
nothing here is particularly 'bad' per se, but absolutely nothing stood out to me in a big way across the entire record. neutered alt-rock production, basic song structures and note progressions. Telle is the only element here that really excels imo, but even then it gets a bit tiring hearing the same kind of crooning verse/chorus in every song with little to no reprieve. I loved Dark Matter so much man, it's such a shame to see where they've ended up now. I guess the closer was my favourite, had the most going for it out of all the tracks.

The Amity Affliction Everyone Loves You... Once You Leave Them
I respect this bands commitment to making me increasingly hate mainstream metalcore with each
release. One can only hope I?m able to escape with my will to live after this one. Eat shit. edit:
stay mad alamo, at least BMTH TRIED to do something different with MTLT..., what can you say about
this? This is just the same awful formulaic horse shit that The Amity Affliction have been doing
for the past 10 years that they so almost escaped with Misery, only to be dragged back in out of
fear of being called 'sellouts' by tweenagers that only listen to metalcore
