Saw these guys in Australia a few weeks ago, and man I'm even more obsessed with them now. Black Rat and Bloody Lovely are incredible but this is their best album so far, they've grown into incredible musicians. Prepare to be pelted with mind-blowing riffs and immaculate vibes, with a great presentation tying it all together. Gotta be one of the year's best

The Bennies Rainbows in Space
Beneath their surface value and outlook of weed and partying, the Bennies have some
actual musical talent. Anty is a suitably energetic singer, switching between talking,
rapping and screaming, and the band's unique mix of psychedelics, ska, punk, reggae and
rock and roll is a nice counterpart to their lyrical outlook and ascends them a step
about their Triple J contemporaries. All elements line up and make for a fine record for
a night out "smoking a little sensi-mi under a tree in Collingwood". Besides, the
breakdown in "Sensi-mi" is just too good.

3.0 good
AC/DC Rock or Bust
Airbourne Breakin' Outta Hell
Foo Fighters Medicine at Midnight
At some points in this album the Foos seem to be trying to do smooth pop-rock with some soul influence, and at some points the riffs work. The problem is that Dave Grohl has one of the least sexy voices out there. Every line he sang I just imagined Josh Homme doing it and it sounded way better. Hell, Taylor's better suited to this style than Dave, just get him for at like one song please Dave you can't pull off low and smooth it's so distracting

2.0 poor
Weezer The Black Album
Yikes - this album has always rubbed me the wrong way, but at this point it's become
easily one of my least favourite Weezer albums. While Pac Daydream had some godawful
songs, it also had some standouts, and overall I defiantly didn't hate it as much as
everyone else. This thing? This is like the opposite of EWBAITE - a fantastic album with
an epic scope and tonnes of passion and heart. Every song on Black feels super slow,
there are plenty of terrible instrumental and production choices (what is with the drum
machines?), there is zero passion or spontaneity, and the whole thing just feels so
clunky and soulless. Occasionally there is some style or substance, like on "Can't Knock
the Hustle," and "High as a Kite," but I really hope Van Weezer injects some life back
into this band, because this album just did nothing for me.

1.5 very poor
