With the shocking (arguably provocative) lyricism, unusual stylistic variety of the tracks and odd, distorted production, the album holds together in the weirdest way possible - and still today it sounds as "out-there" as it did in 1967.Tori Amos Little Earthquakes4.5 superbABBA ArrivalABBA The VisitorsAlanis Morissette Jagged Little PillBat For Lashes Fur and GoldBjork DebutBjork PostBlondie Parallel LinesCarole King TapestryCyndi Lauper She's So UnusualDamien Rice ODolly Parton JoleneThe quintessential Dolly album. Released as one of her very first solo efforts, it contains undoubtedly her two biggest tracks ("I Will Always Love You" and "Jolene") which helped launch the start of a huge solo career for Ms. Parton. Even on the album's weaker tracks, Dolly's voice shines through.Fiona Apple When the Pawn...Fleetwood Mac TuskFleetwood Mac Fleetwood MacGrimes Art AngelsHeart Dreamboat AnnieAn explosive and highly enjoyable debut. The album's songwriting and lyricism are surprisingly strong here ("Magic Man"), but obviously the main attractions are the intense vocal performances by Ann ("Soul of the Sea") and folk-influenced guitar parts from Nancy ("Crazy on You"). I'm not a fan of the three inclusions of "Dreamboat Annie" (which is itself quite a good song, but does grow a little stale by the third - and ultimately least interesting - reprise) though nevertheless, I think this is Heart's strongest offering, and I suppose it's not too much of a surprise that they never quite managed to recapture what made this album such a success.Janelle Monae The ArchAndroidJoanna Newsom Have One on MeJoni Mitchell Ladies of the CanyonJoni Mitchell For the RosesJoni Mitchell Court and SparkKate Bush Never for EverKate Bush The Kick InsideLaura Nyro New York TendaberryNico DesertshoreNina Simone I Put a Spell on YouNina Simone Nina Simone Sings the BluesNina Simone High Priestess of SoulNirvana In UteroNirvana NevermindPatti Smith HorsesPatti Smith EasterPJ Harvey Let England ShakePJ Harvey To Bring You My LovePJ Harvey Stories From The City, Stories From The SeaPortishead PortisheadPortishead Roseland NYC LiveQueen A Night at the OperaRegina Spektor SongsRegina Spektor Live in LondonRegina Spektor 11:11Regina Spektor Begin To HopeRegina Spektor Remember Us To LifeSara Bareilles Kaleidoscope HeartStevie Nicks Bella DonnaSuzanne Vega Suzanne VegaThe Cure DisintegrationTori Amos Under the PinkTori Amos From the Choirgirl HotelTori Amos Live at Montreux 1991/19924.0 excellentABBA The AlbumABBA Super TrouperAlanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill AcousticAretha Franklin I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love YouAretha Franklin Lady SoulBat For Lashes Two SunsBeyonce LemonadeBjork VulnicuraBjork TelegramBlondie BlondieBlondie Plastic LettersCarole King MusicDamien Rice 9Damien Rice My Favourite Faded FantasyDon McLean American PieDonna Summer I Remember YesterdayErykah Badu Mama's GunErykah Badu BaduizmEtta James At Last!Feist The ReminderFiona Apple Extraordinary MachineFiona Apple TidalFleetwood Mac Tango in the NightFlorence and the Machine LungsGoldfrapp Seventh TreeGoldfrapp Black CherryGorillaz Demon DaysGreen Day DookieGrimes VisionsHappy Rhodes Rhodes IHappy Rhodes EquipoiseHappy Rhodes Building the ColossusHappy Rhodes Many Worlds Are Born TonightHeart Little QueenHeart Dog & ButterflyHooverphonic Blue Wonder Power MilkHooverphonic Presents Jackie CaneHooverphonic No More Sweet MusicJanelle Monae Metropolis: The Chase SuiteJanelle Monae The Electric LadyJanelle Monae Dirty ComputerThese singles are fire so far. Still, aside from that there is plenty of enjoyment to be had - the songwriting is strong with memorable, satisfying melodies and great hooks.Jewel SpiritJoanna Newsom DiversJoanna Newsom The Milk-Eyed MenderJoanna Newsom Joanna Newsom and the Ys Street BandJoni Mitchell Song to a SeagullJoni Mitchell CloudsJoni Mitchell The Hissing of Summer LawnsKate Bush The Sensual WorldKate Miller-Heidke CuriouserKate Miller-Heidke NightflightKylie Minogue Kylie MinogueKylie Minogue Impossible PrincessA glimpse at what Kylie could've been, more than anything.
