There's no amazing standouts here like "Napoleon" or "Guitar Melody" on this tape. However, BHP 2
is way more consistent than its predecessor. It lacks the filler tracks and unnecessary interludes
that Black Hystori Project had. With 11 songs clocking at 42 minutes, it's a short outing,
compared to most unfortunately bloated mixtapes released these days. However, it's concise length
and lack of features gives us a focused, criminally underrated tape where you can tell everyone
involved put their best effort into each cut. |

Huge anthems like "Way Away", "Only One", and the title track are absolute hits, and featured urgent instrumentation that was fairly technical compared to their peers. A lot of the band's best songs are on this album. There are a few songs in the second half that either don't live up to the high standard or feel like filler, but this will be a pop punk staple for years to come. |

Blurmwood is Buckethead's third entry in his Days Til Halloween series. It's quite a
change in pace from the first two. After a familiar creepy ambient intro, he barrels into the fray
with some of the craziest guitar playing we've heard from him in awhile. Tons of great riffs
reminiscent of The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell. "Blurmwood part 4" has uplifting guitar playing
not unlike Pepper's Ghost. There's a lot of really catchy and dissonant melodic ideas here,
and it's a shame that they are on this Pike that will be overlooked due to the fact that there are
over 30 in this particular arc. This is the best Pike in the Halloween series so far, and
one of the better albums in the entire Pikes series. |

A surprisingly great album from everyone's favourite fretboard fappers. The signature cheesiness
and overwhelming instrumental performances are still abundant here. While not anything drastically
different from the rest of their catalog, Maximum Overload sees DragonForce bringing
elements of melodic death metal and thrash metal into their power metal mix. This gives the album
the much-needed variety that the others tend to lack. Couple that with more concise songs and Marc
Hudson's quality vocal performance, and you have the best album of DragonForce's polarizing
career. |

Brute Force is a really fun album, marrying different electronic influences with djent
riffing. There are great buildups and payoffs across the board (see: "Formless"). However,
sometimes the fierce experimentation can be a bit disjointed, like in "Hex", or the songs can
occasionally putter and plod on for too long (see: "Userspace"). Despite this, it's still a very
engaging and unique album that rarely lets up in its intense pace. |

| Buckethead 30 Days Til Halloween: Swollen Glasses |
Swollen Glasses is the second entry of Buckethead's Days Til Halloween series, which
in itself is a subset of the overarching Pikes series. It's an ambient album, in the same
vein as Visitor From The Mirror. This time around, the soundscapes are denser and more
dynamic when compared to Visitor. There are creepy synths playing in the background, and
Buckethead plays a wider variety of guitar parts. This makes the listen a bit more varied and less
boring. Unfortunately, it still all blends together and can feel a tad overlong even in its
economical 30 minute runtime. There's also some very jarring volume swells, they can be annoying
but they might be a focal point of this album's eerie qualities. This guy should definitely write
soundtracks for horror games. |
| Buckethead 25 Days Til Halloween: Window Fragment |
Window Fragment is the seventh Days Til Halloween Pike by Buckethead, and the 182nd
Pike overall. This is another dark ambient entry to the series, which has almost never deviated
from that standard. Window Fragment is one of the more melodic Pikes in this series so far.
There's interesting use of guitars and woodwinds here, and he does a good job of setting a creepy
mood most of the time on this album. There are a few genuinely spooky moments on its runtime. It's
a tad unfocused, and has a few half-assed moments that seem like he's just messing around, but
this is one of the most enjoyable Halloween Pikes so far. |
| Buckethead 23 Days Til Halloween: Wax |
| Wax is the ninth Pike by Buckethead, in his Days Til Halloween Series. It's possibly the best horror soundtrack in the series so far, but it is also one of the most boring. Wax is essentially a more textured version of Visitor From the Mirror. The soundscapes are spacious, and drenched in reverb. It's a very focused entry to the Halloween series, compared to most of the other albums released by Brian Carroll in the same month. While it's hard to qualify this album's effectiveness amongst such a large catalogue, Wax maintains a consistently eerie atmosphere throughout it's runtime. It's one of Buckethead's best dark ambient outings, despite being very dull and repetitive. |

I have to admit, I really didn't like this album at first. I REALLY REALLY want to love
this album like many others do. I was hyped when The Dark Sentencer and Unheavenly
Creatures came out because it harkened back to the Good Apollo/Afterman albums. Those are
two great songs that open up the album. Unfortunately, you don't get much more past that
other than a smattering of catchy mid-tempo Coheed tunes (True Ugly, The Gutter, All On
Fire). There is also a couple of duds on this album (Toys, Queen of the Dark). This has
the paint-job of a classic Coheed album, and a bunch of songs that range from good to
great. However, there's none of the inner workings that made the first 4 albums (and the
Afterman to a lesser extent) such great albums. There's no suite of long-form progressive
songs with great instrumentals. There isn't really any stand-out pop tracks like A Favor
House Atlantic, The Suffering, or Feathers. They mostly ALL are mid-tempo pop songs with
occasional progressive elements across its bloated 15-track runtime. The songs don't
really seem to follow a concept or are ordered with any real care. There are a lot of
positives though, Lucky Stars is a nice enough ballad, All On Fire is probably the
closest we'll get to the magic captured on Good Apollo 1, and the mix on this album is
quite good. This functions mostly as a playlist of solid Coheed songs.

listen for the better tracks like "Stash House" and "Above the Law" (amongst others). |

Unfortunately, some of the tracks are quite bland, and a strange mix that is off-putting. There's enough solid music here to make a great EP, but overall this feels like a regression after the last two albums. |

| Yellowcard's self-titled coda is definitely a good album for them to go out on. The great production job here makes everything crystal clear, and also gives the music (and the listener) space to breathe. "Leave A Light On" is the token heartfelt cut that has a way bigger impact than almost anything from Lift a Sail. There's solid variation, like the neat clean guitar riff in "The Hurt is Gone", and the trippy ending in "Empty Spaces". Especially for fans of their heavier material, parts of this album can feel a bit boring as Yellowcard is definitely one of their more ballad-heavy releases. Still, it's one of their better albums and it's clear that what we have here is a love letter and a goodbye to their fans. |

The first album in his Halloween series isn't horrible, but it isn't all that great either.
It's a creepy, ambient affair that features a lot of clean guitar washed in reverb and tremolo
picking. The lack of song title variation doesn't really matter the music itself is one large body
of work. While it would make for a half-decent soundtrack and sounds acceptable while playing in
the background, it all runs together by the end and is quite boring when listening attentively. |
| Buckethead 27 Days Til Halloween: Cavern Guide |
| Cavern Guide is the fifth entry in Buckethead's Days Til Halloween series, and the 180th Pike he has released. There is a larger focus on his ambient guitar playing this time around, making this release is very similar to Visitor From the Mirror, the first Halloween Pike. While it's nice to hear a layered performance that marries his bizarre guitar playing with eerie ambience, it drags on endlessly. There are interesting sonic ideas peppered across Cavern Guide, but they are continuously coupled with baffling, unpleasant, and jarring sections. |

| Bogwitch is the sixth entry in Brian Carroll's Days Til Halloween series of Pikes. This is another dark ambient entry not unlike his work as Death Cube K. Bogwitch is probably the most directionless album in the series so far, but it is also one of the most varied and insane. There's creepy guitars drenched in reverb, and all sorts of synths, sound effects, and different percussion. Sometimes it works (mostly in the second half of the album), and sometimes it doesn't (see: the hilarious and abrasive air horn that dominates the opening few minutes of the record). |
| Buckethead 24 Days Til Halloween: Screaming Scalp |
Screaming Scalp is the eighth entry in Buckethead's Days Til Halloween series of
Pikes. This album in particular is absolutely insane, it is easily the most dissonant and
difficult Pikes to listen to in the Halloween series so far, and perhaps even the entire
Pikes series as a whole. There's moments of absolute despair after the 16 minute mark. With these
moments in particular, I'm not sure if they are intentionally jarring or unintentionally jarring.
Either way, a very endearing second movement somewhat makes up for a lame first half. Overall,
Screaming Scalp feels like a series of mood pieces glued together very haphazardly that I'm
hard-pressed to say if its genius or just lazy and absurd. |

It starts off well enough. There are tons of bangers in the first half with solid performances by
Gucci and great beats. By the time the second half starts, it starts to get really repetitive.
Future also sounds tired and uninspired throughout most of the tape. Overall, I wouldn't cast
Meteor on this album. I would most likely only cast Fira, or Firaga on the latter half
in particular. |

Their sophomore album with Dobson marks an incremental, but notable improvement for the band after
Midget Tossing. The production is a tad better, the songwriting chops have improved, and Dobson
has developed a bit as a hardcore punk vocalist. However, all the same problems, like poor mixing
efforts, and amateurish vocals from Dobson and other members of the band are still prevalent,
albeit to a lesser extent. It would have been interesting to see what this band would have became
if they stuck with Dobson and continued in this vein. Their ballsy approach to melodic punk hints
at a lot of potential on this album. |

Hopes were high for this album since it seemed as if Yellowcard hit their stride with When
You're Through Thinking, Say Yes and Southern Air. Unfortunately, it's filled to the
brim with mediocre songs. The mix here (bass especially) isn't all that great, either. The ballads
on this album (and there are a lot) are either dull, or have extremely cringeworthy lyrics and
vocal melodies. I enjoy this band, but I would understand why their detractors would find Ryan
Key's vocals annoying if they only heard Lift a Sail. The band's solid instrumentation they
are known for saves this from being a disaster. |

It's mixed adequately, the breakdowns are fun sometimes, and these guys are talented musicians.
That isn't enough to give anyone reason to listen to this album more than once. "Let's Get
Abducted" is the only song that doesn't have any cringe-worthy moments. There are better albums in
their own discography and there are popular metalcore albums in this vein that are executed more
proficiently. Chaos was written by a band that focuses more on their marketing and their social
media than on the music itself. |

The Insides Of The Outsides is Big B's fourth album in his daily Days Til Halloween
Pikes. There are some neat ambient sounds scattered across the album. This album is not too
different from Swollen Glasses, a previous Halloween Pike released 48 hours prior.
While this album has a wider variety of ideas on display when compared to its predecessor, it's
one of the most disjointed Pikes so far. It doesn't really establish any particular mood like
Swollen Glasses did, and there's sudden noise parts that will make your ears bleed. |

I honestly should not be giving this trash any attention. But I can't help it. This might
actually be the worst album of all time. I'm a music nerd. I've listened to tons of
trash. Angelic to the Core, Skeleton Veiled in Flesh, Playing With Fire, Speeding Bullet
2 Heaven, you name it. This guy essentially programmed a bunch of garbage death metal in
Guitar Pro/EZ Drummer/Whatever, used the most garbage stock audio sounds from those
programs, and then recorded incel screaming vocals over 54 minutes of it. The lyrics and
themes are fucking wack (which isn't something I usually care about). It's lyrically a
mix of your borderline IQ anti-vaxxer acquaintance you have on facebook that posts
dumbass "studies" and whiney statuses all day and Brother Joseph from your old church
group. Anti-vax, anti-islamic, and anti-abortion nonsense is spewed across the runtime.
He also mastered this shit fucking horribly, with every track turned up so loud that the
more chaotic parts sound like me farting into the mic. |
