5.0 classic
Brand New Science Fiction
Comeback Kid Symptoms + Cures
Converge You Fail Me Redux
Converge All We Love We Leave Behind
Deadguy Fixation on a Coworker
Every Time I Die Low Teens
This is like New Junk Aesthetic fused with From Parts Unknown, and it may end up being tied with those two albums for my favorite ETiD record. They blew my expectations out of the water with this one. "Map Change" is not only one of the best songs they've ever written, but may end up being my favorite song released this year.
Every Time I Die From Parts Unknown
Fear Before The Always Open Mouth
Knocked Loose A Different Shade of Blue
Those of you who are saying all the songs sound the same... give it a couple more spins. Many of the tracks really stand out on second and third listens. I think because of how abrasive and angry it is throughout it all kind of runs together on first listen. It's no game changer but it's a pretty solid hardcore album, it hits hard. Forget Your Name is a standout track for me, as it has Keith Buckley of ETiD on the breakdown section and he nails it. Good stuff. rEdit: I love this record, it's grown on me even more than I expected.
Knocked Loose A Tear in the Fabric of Life
mclusky McLusky Do Dallas
Nine Inch Nails With Teeth
Norma Jean Redeemer
Norma Jean All Hail
The riffs here are absolutely massive. You never feel like they are just going into a breakdown or heavy section
because it is expected, it all just flows together so well. Cory?s vocals are the best they have ever been,
particularly on the last couple of tracks... and they have always been pretty good. Absolutely stellar from front to
back.
Norma Jean Wrongdoers
Norma Jean Deathrattle Sing for Me
Palm Reader Braille
Whoa, this is great!! Now THIS is how you make a good metalcore album in 2018.

Incredibly underrated mathcore record. These guys deserve more love.
Stake Critical Method
This is one of the more original albums I've heard this year. I wasn't just impressed by the artistry on it, I was legitimately entertained throughout. Definitely worth a listen if you're into this kind of music.
Underoath Lost In The Sound Of Separation

Bayside Interrobang
Birds in Row We Already Lost the World
Blood From The Soul DSM-5
Car Seat Headrest Twin Fantasy (Face to Face)
Childish Gambino "Awaken, My Love!"
Converge Beautiful Ruin
I loved the sound and fury of the heavier songs on The Dusk in Us like Broken by Light and Cannibals, and these songs definitely have that feel. Melancholia is such a rad track.
Converge I Can Tell You About Pain
Cult Leader A Patient Man
Cult of Luna A Dawn to Fear
Dan Spencer Bursting With Country-Fresh Flavor
Drug Church Cheer

This album rules. Been listening to it all weekend since it dropped. Hits pretty hard.
Harm Wulf Hijrah
He Is Legend White Bat
He Is Legend Suck Out the Poison

Wish this were getting more attention. These guys put a lot of raw energy into their music. Excellent stuff.

The Callous Daoboys I Don't Want to See You in Heaven

No other album this year has given me goosebumps like this one has. The guitar melodies are especially wonderful, but the sincerity and delivery of the lyrics are the icing on the cake.
Trap Them Crown Feral
These guys always deliver. So satisfyingly heavy.
Turnstile Time and Space

3.5 great
All Get Out No Bouquet
All Get Out aren't doing anything revolutionary in their genre- they never really have - but each album there are always at least 5-6 songs that I really enjoy, and the same goes here.

3.0 good
Better Lovers Highly Irresponsible
Blood Command World Domination
Greyhaven Keep It Quiet
Mastodon Hushed and Grim
I dig a handful of the tracks here but it definitely could have used a trim. No reason for this thing to be as long as it is. I keep seeing comparisons to Crack the Skye but this is nowhere near as captivating throughout like CTS is. Hopefully some of it will grow on me like Emperor did.
Militarie Gun God Save The Gun
Not as great as Life Under the Gun but still really enjoyable and fun.
Nine Inch Nails Add Violence
Maybe this will grow on me, but after the first listen I'm not all that impressed. I loved Not the Actual Events, and I was hoping this would continue that sound instead of sounding like a bunch of b-sides or interludes from The Fragile. Not Anymore and This Isn't the Place are great tracks though.
Polaris Fatalism
Tame Impala The Slow Rush
Tame Impala Deadbeat
The Armed These Are Lights
Thrice To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere
Turnstile Never Enough

2.5 average
Drug Church Prude
I wish I enjoyed this more than I do. It's just not very memorable. I haven't loved anything since Cheer, but I'm glad they're still going. Love their energy.
Many Eyes The Light Age
Many Eyes Combust
I don't hate this, but I swear they just finished recording it just a few weeks ago. It feels
rushed. Needed more layers, more mixing, and more time to stew. The songs aren't awful but the
production makes them feel really flat. And there are no stand-out tracks like "Revelation" or
"Amateurs" to elevate the release as a whole. I don't know why Keith feels the need to repeat
lines so many times, he's always been a better writer than that.
Nine Inch Nails Tron: Ares OST
Pig Destroyer The Octagonal Stairway
Glad I didn't spend the money to pre-order this like I originally wanted to. The first three songs are pretty rad but after that it becomes borderline unlistenable. I like noisy music as much as the next grindcore fan but it's hard to anyone sitting down listening to the latter half of this release and thinking "Oh yeah, that's the good stuff".
Senses Fail If There Is Light, It Will Find You
The Armed Everlasting Gaze
"Martyr Song" is one of the coolest songs they've ever written but the other two are just kinda there. First track feels like a pointless intro. I would be more interested in the remixes if they'd have done new mixes of several songs instead of 3 of the same track. Odd choice.
