5.0 classic
Modest Mouse The Lonesome Crowded West
The lyrics. THE LYRICS. So cynical, and oh so clever. All about being against western culture and society. They rock hard too. It can go from something as wacky as Shit Luck, and then go to something as calming as Polar Opposites. This album is quite the ride. FAV TRACKS: Teeth Like God's Shoeshine and Truckers Atlas. And seriously, Shit Luck's hilarious.
Modest Mouse The Moon & Antarctica
Completely blown me away from the first track, I remember getting goose bumps listening to it. Be aware that I'd only listened to Good News at the time, so this album was a total surprise and made me get hooked up with the band. It's wacky and nihilistic and gloomy, it goes everywhere, but in the end always gets back to the spacy vibes that this album revolves around. And of course, the lyrics are amazingly worded and poetic. FAV TRACKS: Oh god no, don't make me choose.
Murder by Death Who Will Survive and What Will Be Left of Them?
I'm a little biased probably, because this is a concept/storytelling album with themes that I'm interested in. But geez, the Devil visiting the wild west to ruin a little town? That's a nice story. And the cello parts that MbD is known for suit this amazingly well. The tracks sound a little somber thanks to it, along with the piano and the calm guitars. It was a great album where you could imagine the story throughout the tracks. I want more albums like this. FAV TRACKS: The Desert's on Fire, Devil in Mexico
The Caretaker Everywhere at the End of Time
5/5 gave me a panic attack

Okay so I couldn't bear to finish a single track of that album above because it grabbed
one of my biggest phobias in the ass and fucked it so hard I ended up with a MASSIVE
panic attack and I ended up dissociating. Not very pretty. I hate the thought that I'll
lose myself one day.

4.5 superb
American Football American Football
Baths Obsidian
This album is like a sheet of sadness softly covering you. Sadness embraces you. Obsidian is surely a very personal album, but one I can highly relate with. I generally really love the musical style, I like how it somehow keeps a balance between an easy melody to follow and a little wackiness (the glitching). Some people dislike Wiesenfield's singing voice, but I think the soft vocals resonate well with the equally soft instrumental style. FAV TRACKS: Ironworks, No Eyes
Built to Spill Keep It Like a Secret
Listened to it to compare with Modest Mouse, but shit, this is so good. I adore the melodies. And while everything sounds happy, the lyrics are sad in a subtle way. FAV TRACKS: Carry the Zero, You Were Right
Feed Me Jack Anatolia
IAMX Kingdom of Welcome Addiction
Kaizers Orchestra Ompa Til Du Dor
Keiichi Okabe Nier Automata OST
Keiichi Okabe Nier
Miles Davis Kind of Blue
This is a classic as many know. An album that is easy to the ears, while still being as jazzy as it can be, but still soft. I often listen to jazz to relax, and Miles Davis really delivers my purpose to me. FAV TRACKS: Not sure, I didn't keep track to the track names. Should listen again sometime.
Modest Mouse This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About
Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark Architecture & Morality
At first it may sound like typical synthpop with new wave elements, but this band seems to get how to convey emotion in this genre. The melancholic atmosphere that this album envelopes somehow appears not only in the lyrics, but even in the sound despite its catchiness. That's what makes this album so amazing, and makes me strongly appreciate this band. FAV SONGS: Souvenir, Of All The Things We've Made
Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here
Every track here means so much in a lyrical, atmospherical and emotional sense. And all pieces fit together so well. An effective album for the souls of many. FAV TRACKS: Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond (the division put in opening and finale is fucking genius too)
Pink Floyd The Wall
Queen A Night at the Opera
Sparks Kimono My House
Streetlight Manifesto Somewhere in the Between
God fucking damn this album is so good. It's like a great spectacle overall, and the lyrics are mostly narrative. The very first track already kicks you right away in the album. Damn catchy album I can't immediately get tired of. FAV TRACKS: Would You Be Impressed, What A Wicked Gang Are We, Somewhere In The Between
Streetlight Manifesto Everything Goes Numb
System of a Down Hypnotize
Aw come on, Daron isn't that bad, y'all guys just compare it too much with Serj's singing. It's a completely different atmosphere, but not one I find better or worse. Lonely Day is so bad though. Otherwise it's filled with amazing tragic lyrics and eargasming guitar shit. Haha. I do think the lyrics are generally harder to understand? Maybe that's why they're harder to dig. FAV TRACKS: She's Like Heroin (so far one of my favourite Soad songs, I can totally explain you why), Holy Mountains, Kill Rock 'n Roll, U-Fig... goddamn I love most of the songs in this album haha

What a good little EP. It's short enough it doesn't get repetitive. I don't think I'd be
able to handle 13 tracks of this same style over and over, but who knows. What makes this

Overall very nice to listen to. The album isn't as sad as it seems actually. It's very calming and heartwarming, something you could sleep with (and gently fuck with, apparently). If I were to rate this completely subjectively it would've been 4.5 or even 5. There's something inexplicable that I adore about this album. FAV TRACKS: This Place Is A Prison, Brand New Colony

The amount of personal sentimentality in this album, and perhaps the artist in general, is so clear and beautiful. Before this album I'd only heard of Rootless Tree, a song that brims with so much emotion so I already respected the artist from there on, due to a single song. I can already tell Damien's intentions are to simplify music yet give of the essential emotion, and make that as intense as possible, and he succeeds quite nicely at times. He makes a fuckton of use of strings for climaxes, and while it's not unique at all, it works. And it slowly ends with hopefulness. The disadvantage? It's not for everyone, which makes sense anyway. You need to understand the feelings to understand the album. Also the lyrics are kind of too straightforward. And it gets a bit repetitive. FAV TRACKS: It Takes a Lot To Know a Man

I think this album is quite good and I certainly enjoy it, but a band being phenomenal doesn't make it perfection. . It's a good feisty ball of weirdness and anger with very lovely lyrics. However, there isn't enough going on for me and it even gets quite repetitive with that retained minimalist approach they're going for. I understand this album must've been amazing that time, but ouch, it didn't age so well in my opinion. I may not have given them a 5, but I'm extremely grateful for the band's very existence.

(Listen again later, Spotify is an ass and I hate using it) There's some bad mixing here and there, but still worth listening if you're into Baths, especially the vibes from Cerulean. If some of the tracks had better mixing it could've been a very solid album. FAV TRACKS (leaving out the ones reappearing in Cerulean): Turian Courtship, Overseas, and if it had better mixing, The Vapors
Bjork Homogenic
Album would've probably been 3.5 or even 4 if not the vocals. They're quite dissonant from most of the songs. It's quite a bummer, because the music itself is right up my alley. The voice is simply too high in my opinion. I'm very surprised people adore this album.rHit me up when the album gets an instrumental version.

I don't think it's as bad as what I heard people saying. It's pretty decent, pretty experimental for this band. The more you listen to it the more you can appreciate it. It's a mix of pop (yes, fucking pop), rap, electronic and and... Lp style. I never liked raps in Lp though. FAV TRACKS: I don't know, New Divide?
Los Campesinos! Hello Sadness
Trying to sound clever in emotional songs that actually have pretty boring themes. A lot is about heartbreak, something I cannot relate to which may have affected the score. Some of the songs may have been boring if only the vocals weren't so unique since they don't really nail it either way. It's an emotion-filled album for sure. FAV TRACKS: The Black Bird, The Dark Slope (which is an amazing track by the way, despite everything). To Tundra is also one I like.

Vocals are majestic, lovely to hear that reminds me of heavenly requiems but with a darker tint. The instruments on the other hand... they're pretty, the piano is nice, but it could've been way more than it is now. It gets quite monotone after a while. Twenty One Pilots Blurryface
Today's mainstream music is pretty bad and too commercial, so Top is right about that, but... I feel they were conflicted in this album. You had Fueled probably shitting somewhere, but Top wanting to keep straying away from mainstream music at the same time. This all made Blurryface a big miss, and some people could see it as them being pretentious. And well, it is that in quite some songs. In too many songs. Top manages to keep the album pretty entertaining, despite it having quite some downs. It's quite a shame that this is the album they got known by. Nothing innovative or anything. Just sad ass stuff, with straightforward lyrics. It is

Los Campesinos! Romance Is Boring
This rating might heavily change once I get to it. The first time listening to this album simply didn't sit well on me but I think it's because I barely listened, so it sounded like a cacophony of annoying vocals. Spyair Can You Listen?
I think there aren't a lot of good pieces in this album. In a lot of tracks the insts don't go well with the vocals, and the occasionally bad mixing doesn't make help that. I never expected this kind of music from Spyair however, but I think they are better at their anime-styled Jrock. FAV TRACKS: Hey You, You'll Never Know

I feel like I'm listening to 1 song repeated for eternity. I'm not even kidding. I was surprised when I was already over half the album. Linkin Park One More Light
It's good to experiment, and I appreciate that the oh-so famous Lp does it. However, in the genre they experimented in they didn't really flesh out something truly unique or mindblowing. Album seems to have a little inspiration from Living Things which makes sense. They make the same mistake they've been doing all this time. They think they can make something new by hopping into a new genre but that's not how it works, it's going to sound just as bland as any genre you work in simply because you can't think creatively. Their mistake is their assumption that you cannot make something new out of your own genre you're in when you totally can, but you have to be creative. Lp isn't creative and that's their problem, and I'm very sure they're plagued by that issue, hence why they try to avoid it by hopping from genre to genre. Also, bad lyrics, holy shit the lyrics are bad. Lp has never been great in their lyrics but lmao. FAV TRACKS: Nobody Can Save Me

The Strokes Is This It
This... this album is so overrated, but especially forgettable. So forgettable I forgot to add it back when I joined Sputnik. It was incredibly repetitive, even after listening to it a lot of times I couldn't get into it at all. The lyrics were also not too impressive either.
