Britney is simply making a pop record, and she sounds comfortable in doing that. Absolutely nothing groundbreaking, but nothing awful or try-hard either, as much as the G-Eazy feature and trap-like sounds seem to suggest. Kind of sounds like it would fit right in with her Las Vegas show. Fun, at worst inoffensive.

It's not as joyously obnoxious as her last albums (which sputnik will assuredly one day correct its sins and praise at least Warrior as highly as Carly Rae's E-MO-TION), but the "Joanne" levels of rootsy-ness suit her just fine. "Hunt You Down" and the Dolly Parton duet "Old Flames" are especially fantastic.

Decent little ditties, but still feels incomplete. No doubt is keeping song for song as short as possible the point, but, like Gymnastics, it feels like a demo of what's to come, only a wee longer. Maybe more songs could have done the trick?

It's not totally indefensible to sound like Led Zeppelin. There's definitely a sizable audience that would love someone new to be successful from it. But man, they certainly have some ways to go to sharpen their chops and songwriting from ever doing songs like fucking "You're the One" again. Robert Plant's last two or three albums in the past eight years are infinite times more impactful and imaginative than what you get here. Don't really think this deserves much of a pass, background music to play at a SEC tailgate aside.
