Sometimes it's over the top with blastbeats and relentless double-kick, but for me it never feels like too much. Australia's prog scene seems to be growing, and Ne Obliviscaris are at the forefront until Karnivool deign to release their new opus.3.5 greatNothing More The Stories We Tell OurselvesTo me, this sounds like an odd but effective mix of Karnivool and Fallout Boy, with a bunch of electronic elements. Impressive hooks abound, and for the few album-oriented folks left, the brief instrumentals bridge the gap nicely. I'm a huge fan of the dialed-down gain in songs like 'Go To War' - they're done an exceptional job with dynamics. There are a couple clunkers here, but they're easily overlooked - this is a strong album. I don't think I'd label it progressive, as others have, but it's well-crafted and enjoyable for any fan of heavy music.Soen Lykaia
