Death Individual Thought Patterns
Death Symbolic
Ne Obliviscaris Portal of I

4.5 superb
Allegaeon Proponent for Sentience
Death The Sound of Perseverance
In Flames The Jester Race
Rivers of Nihil Where Owls Know My Name
The Absence From Your Grave
Thin Lizzy Bad Reputation
Tomb Mold The Enduring Spirit

4.0 excellent
Arkaik Labyrinth of Hungry Ghosts
This is a MASSIVE step up from anything else these guys have done. Very unique sound
compared to a lot of other tech death metal bands.
Burial in the Sky Persistence Of Thought
This is an absolute hidden gem of an album. The guitar work in particular here is excellent,
they really knocked it out of the park with some super catchy riffs and solos. They don't
even have this album on certain streaming platforms but it's so good that every so often
I'll just track it down on YouTube to give it another spin.
Carnosus Wormtales
Cosmic Putrefaction Emerald Fires Atop The Farewell Mountains
There's some nice high points sprinkled throughout this album
Dawn of Ouroboros The Art of Morphology
Dripping with atmosphere and some really nice riffs sprinkled throughout. Almost reminds me of old Abigail Williams...
Dawn of Ouroboros Velvet Incandescence
Saw these guys as a warm up act at a show one day and was genuinely caught off guard by how
good some of their songs sounded in a live setting even though I didn't know any of their
material. Glad I decided to follow up and check out this album because this album and their
last one have been in pretty heavy rotation lately. Great atmosphere mixed with some super
catchy, chunky riffs.
Death Spiritual Healing
Dream Unending/Worm Starpath
In Flames Colony
Iotunn Access All Worlds
I'm between a 3.5 and 4 but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here. Look forward to seeing what these guys do in the future.
Iotunn Kinship
Filled with songs that build up to really peak moments
Lunar Chamber Shambhallic Vibrations
Shadow Of Intent Imperium Delirium
Took several listens but damn this is starting to be one of my favorite releases of the year
Stellar Circuits Ways We Haunt
I'm not usually a hard rock fan at all but this has just enough metal elements to keep me hooked. Strikes a really good balance.
Sylosis The Supreme Oppressor
Like others have mentioned, Slowly Consumed is such a standout track. That song alone bumps this EP from a 3.5 to a 4 for me. But there's a few other great tracks as well.
Sylosis Conclusion of an Age
Sylosis Edge of the Earth
The Absence Riders of the Plague
The Faceless Autotheism
Tomb Mold Aperture of Body
You can hear the more prog direction they've taken lately starting here and I'm 100% here for it
Viscera (UK) Obsidian
This grew on me, had to bump it up to a 4.
Wolfheart Constellation of the Black Light
This album is incredible and I'm not usually into this style of metal. Standout tracks are Everlasting Fall,
Breakwater, and Valkyrie.

3.5 great
Animals As Leaders Parrhesia
This might actually be their best effort yet. It feels like they've trimmed out a lot of the fat from previous albums. It also feels like they leaned more into the metal side of things on this release which I appreciate.
Brother Von Doom Relentless
Randomly great album. The vocals aren't anything special but the riffs and solos on display here are fucking amazing at times.
Enterprise Earth Luciferous
Not a huge fan of this band but the last song on this album is an absolute banger.
Enterprise Earth Death: An Anthology
This was a lot better than I expected. Definitely their best release since Luciferous.
Entheos (USA) Dark Future
You can really hear the Animals As Leaders influence on this album.
Hemotoxin When Time Becomes Loss
This release has been growing on me. Definitely Death worship but done pretty well.
Lucis Absentia Gehenna Gate
Might bump my rating as this album is growing on me but I gotta say, this band is a straight
up Sylosis clone lol. Some of these songs could have come straight off a Sylosis album. But
I was looking to scratch that itch anyways so I don't mind
Solution .45 Nightmares In The Waking State Pt. 1
The Absence Coffinized
This is a really enjoyable album, almost every song has a segment with a really catchy riff or lead. A bit of a different sound from their previous albums but that's not necessarily a bad thing. This might be my second favorite album from these guys.
The Absence The Absence
Took a few listens but this is growing on me. Definitely a good blend of their previous
work. One criticism I have with this release (and also their last album) is that the
production seems to be a lot worse than their first few albums for some reason.
Trivium The Sin and the Sentence

3.0 good
Allegaeon Apoptosis
Initially gave this a 3.5 but it fell off pretty hard for me, had to drop it.
August Burns Red Death Below
I want to give this a 1 or 2 just because of that intro spoken word track. Jesus it's cringe but thankfully it picks up a lot after that.
Entheos (USA) An End to Everything
In Flames The Mirror's Truth
Like others have mentioned, the b-sides here are definitely superior to what followed on the LP.
Slipknot We Are Not Your Kind
The Absence Enemy Unbound
The Absence A Gift for the Obsessed
For some reason I wasn't a fan the first time around but this album really grew on me. These guys still got it.
Wolfheart King of the North
This one was pretty forgettable for me sadly but I still think this band is incredibly underrated / unknown.

2.5 average
Affiance Gaia
Esoctrilihum Döth-Derniàlh
I gotta be honest, I was pretty hyped for this one but it was a bit of painful listen. Like the other review mentioned, the clean singing is definitely not this dude's strongest element and there is a lot of it to be found here.

I actually think if he slightly adjusted his delivery / cadence, and maybe toned down some of the effects on the cleans, they could be a lot better.

It's also just a more mellow release relative to his other stuff and the heavier side is where I think this project really shines most of the time. So overall this was a pretty big dud for me.
Gunship Unicorn
Won't lie this is pretty mid. First few songs were good but it was just downhill from there. Their first release still remains their best by far.
Iapetus The Body Cosmic
Definitely NeO worship, but like others mention, it doesn't reach the same highs. In fact, I
don't think it even comes close despite sounding very similar in many respects.

Also, the voice samples scattered throughout are absolute trash and drop this by at least
half a point.
Lamb of God Omens
Yawn. If this was my first time hearing Lamb of God I could see myself giving this a 3 or even a 3.5 but this album is so by the numbers at this point.
Sylosis A Sign of Things to Come
Sylosis The Path
Honestly, this newer sound they've evolved towards over the last few albums is so boring. I can't quite put my finger on why it falls flat compared to their earlier material but something is just missing.
Whitechapel The Brotherhood of the Blade
I don't understand why this band does not play any material from A New Era of Corruption live.

2.0 poor
Between the Buried and Me The Silent Circus
Fallujah Undying Light
This is pretty mediocre. Definitely disappointing compared to their past albums on pretty much every front. The new vocalist doesn't really fit at all. The music seems less technical. Less atmospheric. Overall just a step down in every direction.
Rivers of Nihil The Work
Most disappointing release of 2021 for me. Hope they bounce hard off this new style of theirs cause it’s not good.
The Zenith Passage Datalysium
I like The Faceless a lot and had relatively high hopes for this but it's pretty bad... They
have a unique sound compared to a lot of other tech death bands but it just doesn't sound
that good.

Obviously tons of technical talent on display here and I dig the harsh vocals a lot but it
just doesn't make up for the songwriting unfortunately.
Whitechapel Hymns in Dissonance

1.5 very poor
Architects For Those That Wish to Exist
Their new single 'Animals' came up on my radio mix today and it was so bad, I had to check who the band was. I was pretty surprised to see it was these guys. Was never a huge fan but man this shit was BAD.
Between the Buried and Me Between the Buried and Me
Veil of Maya [m]other
So disappointed. This is borderline horrible. I think I read they had to throw away an
entire album of material they previously wrote/recorded due to some contract/legal issues
which is a shame because the singles they released a few years ago are leaps and bounds
better than anything on this album. Almost feels like they just rushed something out just to
finally release an album after years. This is such a big drop off from their previous two
albums, really sad it turned out like this.
