This is seriously the best pure hip-hop album I've ever heard. No rapping, no gimmicks. Each track has this airy quality to it, and despite being light, they are each full of life. The tracks blend together incredibly well, yet are able to stand alone as a song itself. The album jumps from tracks where drums only seem to make cameo appearances to others where they are front and center, demanding attention. This album is one of the best. Would not make a top 25 list of albums without including this work.

Run the Jewels RTJ4
The flows are just bad and the production is hackneyed. From their first album, RTJ's main appeal for me was unique production and an incredible dual flow that went from one member to the next seamlessly despite such different styles. This album totally abandons dual flows in favor of biting styles of big selling artists with production that feels like something I've heard on dozens of other projects.

1.0 awful
Taylor Swift Lover
1989 was the best pop album of the 2010s and while Reputation was maybe a bit too ambitious, it showed a willingness to step forward with a new style for TSwift. Had she continued and refined the style of Reputation, she'd probably be my favorite artist still. Instead we got Lover. On release, nothing about it felt new. No risks were taken. It's made to be publicly appealing and leans so hard into "sell out" territory that it falls over and is firmly planted there. The worst word I could use to describe a piece of art is "boring." Lover is, without a doubt, boring.
