Eidola The Great Glass Elephant
Masterful blend of jazzy indie rock with hyper ambient post hardcore and prog. One of the most immersive albums I've ever heard; a monumental achievement for a debut album.rEidola are extremely underrated.

In Flames The Jester Race
Marianas Trench Masterpiece Theatre
Marianas Trench Astoria
Completely and utterly underrated band. Josh Ramsay's voice is remarkable, their music is Queen inspired Pop with integrity. Astoria compliments their other releases nicely and ends with what is potentially the best track they've written (End of an Era).

Coheed and Cambria The Afterman: Descension
Coheed and Cambria The Color Before The Sun
Despite an underwhelming first impression, The Color Before the Sun has, with repeated listens, grown into a compelling and fully realized Coheed album - ironically with its non-concept serving as a concept of its own. Intimate, personal, honest, this record finds Claudio finally engaging directly with the audience instead of by proxy through characters, and it results in a refreshing change of lyrical content. It would be better with more consistency as there are clearly better and worse songs here, but overall what they've accomplished with such a concise effort is impressive.

Jason Lancaster has always been a heartfelt singer with a pleasingly empassioned voice. The bonus being he's also a capable songwriter, so his solo debut feels very comfortable without being too safe.
