5.0 classic
Insomnium Above the Weeping World
Pearl Jam Ten
Slugdge Esoteric Malacology
Svavelvinter Mörkrets Tid
My favorite album of the year. I've listened to it 100 times in the last couple of months and I just can't stop.

4.5 superb
Allegaeon Damnum
Amorphis Queen of Time
Countless Skies Glow
Best melodeth of 2020. I don't normally love this style of clean vocals but his voice makes this album. Glow 1-3 are just gorgeous. #2 on my AOTY list no question.
Cypress Hill Elephants On Acid
This album feels like a fantastic throwback to my favorite Cypress Hill album, Temple of Boom.
Band of Gypsies is a great listen and completely unique in current hip hop, but there are many
other great tracks on this album.

Locos is by far my favorite, as it feels like a sequel to my prior favorite Cypress Hill track, Locotes,
which mixes in some of the elements that I really like from the Psycho Realm albums. Other tracks
that I really enjoyed are Reefer Man, Pass the Knife, Warlords, Put Em In the Ground, Falling Down
and Blood on My Hands Again. Good to see Cypress Hill alive and well with Muggs again.
Deafheaven Lonely People With Power
Heaven Shall Burn Of Truth and Sacrifice
Holy hell, this thing bangs hard. I loved Veto, but this is easily their best record since Antigone
Hooded Menace Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed
Insomnium One for Sorrow
Insomnium Shadows of the Dying Sun
Invent Animate Stillworld
An engaging listen from start to finish. Clean vocals are minimal and feel like a natural part of the
tracks. Production quality is great. Songs don't feel boilerplate and have a memorable sound. Best
metalcore that I've heard in a while.
Invent Animate The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was
I find myself humming it and then I listen to it again. Endless repeat. Must seek help.
Periphery Juggernaut: Omega
Shadow Of Intent Melancholy

4.0 excellent
Allegaeon Proponent for Sentience
Allegaeon The Ossuary Lens
It's 2:00 eastern and there still aren't any articles lambasting Allegaeon's brickwalled production. This community is growing complacent.
Amon Amarth Jomsviking
Blackbraid Blackbraid III
Blueshift Voyager
Breaking Benjamin Phobia
Cemetery Skyline Nordic Gothic
Deafheaven Sunbather
Deafheaven New Bermuda
Dormant Ordeal Tooth and Nail
Love this album. They remind me a bit of Hath. This is in my top five albums of 2025 thus far.
Fires in the Distance Air Not Meant For Us
Really enjoying the two singles Wisdom of Falling Leaves and Idiopathic Despair. Their last
album was a solid first outing as well. I'm looking forward to hearing the full album.

UPDATE: Only one play in and I'm absolutely loving this album. Reminds me a little bit of a
more edgy version of Countless Skies' Glow from 2020 (which is also a fantastic album).
Heaven Shall Burn Veto
Heretoir Nightsphere
Loving this. Going to be a mainstay on my melo / ambient black playlist for a long time to come.
In Flames Come Clarity
Insomnium Winter's Gate
Insomnium Anno 1696
Invent Animate Heavener
Kalmah Kalmah
Nephylim Circuition
Love this album. It's a great placeholder for while I wait for a new Insomnium album.
Northlane Node
Northlane Obsidian
I first rated this as a 3.0 having been initially unimpressed with the new Northlane sound. Since then I've found myself listening to it more and more. I am rather fond of their new sound now.
Obsequiae The Palms of Sorrowed Kings
Orbit Culture Nija
it's like Shadow of Intent had an ugly and deformed child with Trivium who was raised on
nothing but cocaine by Children of Bodom. It's a banger.
Orbit Culture Shaman
Hi, I'm just here for the last two minutes of A Sailor's Tale. Thanks.

Also, how are there no reviews for any of these Orbit Culture albums? They are all bangers.
Periphery Juggernaut: Alpha
Rivers of Nihil Where Owls Know My Name
Shadow Of Intent Reclaimer
This album gets better each time I listen to it. Impressive bit of ass kicking.
Shadow Of Intent Imperium Delirium
I am a Shadow of Intent fan and this is an unmistakably Shadow of Intent album. Ben is a monster. Their drummer is a monster. Their songwriting is monstrous. Here there be monsters.
Tool Fear Inoculum
Trivium The Sin and the Sentence
Varaha A Passage For Lost Years
I love this album. It's atmoblack w/ a splash of "13th Step" A Perfect Circle.

3.5 great
A Perfect Circle Eat the Elephant
Breaking Benjamin Saturate
Breaking Benjamin We Are Not Alone
Eye Eater Alienate
Loving this so far. Reminds me of a more dissonant Hath, who happens to be one of my favorite bands.
Gojira Magma
Insomnium Since the Day It All Came Down
Insomnium In the Halls of Awaiting
Insomnium Across the Dark
Invent Animate Greyview
Kingdom of Giants All the Hell You've Got to Spare
Great listen! Not as good as Ground Culture but it's a good listen if you are the mood for some lighter metalcore.
Orbit Culture Descent
First single bangs! https://blabbermouth.net/news/orbit-culture-releases-new-single-from-the-inside. Nija was in my top 3 albums of 2020.
Orbit Culture Death Above Life
Parkway Drive Ire
Periphery Periphery II: This Time It's Personal
Trivium What the Dead Men Say

3.0 good
Breaking Benjamin Dear Agony
Bring Me The Horizon POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR
Cattle Decapitation Death Atlas
Gojira From Mars to Sirius
Heaven Shall Burn Wanderer
I enjoyed listening to it, but not nearly as much as Veto.
Linkin Park From Zero
Periphery Periphery III: Select Difficulty

2.5 average
Breaking Benjamin Ember
In Flames Sounds of a Playground Fading
Northlane Alien
Northlane Mirror's Edge
Periphery Periphery V: Djent Is Not a Genre

2.0 poor
Breaking Benjamin Dark Before Dawn
Bring Me The Horizon POST HUMAN: NeX GEn
zzzzZZZZZZzzzz. It's like BMTH was bought by a private equity firm that owns an assortment of pop acts and decided to start selling genre smoothies.
Motionless In White Disguise
Parkway Drive Reverence
The Agonist Orphans

1.0 awful
Five Finger Death Punch And Justice for None
In Flames Siren Charms
In Flames Battles
The Agonist Five
