Black Breath Slaves Beyond Death
A definite change of direction for the band. Concise bursts of hardcore-tinged energy are now replaced with a
more brooding, thundering 90s death metal vibe. A switch to a more death metal vocal delivery makes Black
Breath's sound a bit less distinguishable from other bands of similar genres. Riffage is great, with lots of good
grooves, but extended passages and song structure rob this album of some of the power of previous releases.
Whereas Sentenced to Life could be visualized as the energetic thrasher kid tearing up the pit, Slaves Beyond
Death seems more like the long-time metalhead standing in the back, slowly bobbing their head to groovy slam.
