I like to give ever album a chance. Plus some bands change for the better like Pink Floyd or Alice in Chains (Yes we haven't forgotten about your glamor phase AIC). I've had 'Lift a Sail' on repeat for a little over a day now so I think I've given it more than a fair enough chance so here's the verdict: 'Lift a Sail' is a sound machine repetitive lyrical garbage. I get Yellowcard lost their great longtime drummer but did they seriously have to replace him with a drum machine??? However, I can't put all the blame on Yellowcard. This was their first album with the label Razor & Tie also know for amazing bands such as Chiodos, The Pretty Reckless, P.O.D., Finch, and All That Remains who are all recently signed with them. R&T didn't capture Yellowcard at their full potential. It was their responsibility to make sure this was a hit and they failed miserably at that. It was like their hearts weren't fully into this album, I mean Ryan usually give out such great lyrics but each songs was him spilling the same line over and over. I expect so much better on the next album and I do think THAT one will be the hit but this one was just a filler in between. I'll keep 'Lift a Sail' on the shelves for when I need music to listen to when I'm cleaning the house but for actually wanting to feel the music I'll leave that for another C.D.
